I highly recommend this as the first thing you do in Dublin. An extremely knowledgeable and engaging history grad student at Trinity College somehow managed to tell us a surprisingly in-depth history of Ireland from before the Vikings until the present day, along with the history of Dublin itself and many of the neighborhoods and buildings, while also taking us around and showing us the sites. Unlike many of the bus tours that are all gung-ho pro-Ireland, our tour guide gave us as objective a history as possible, not embellishing Ireland's stumbles out of a sense of patriotic duty. I walked away with a good sense of the city, and with a good sense of where Ireland is today and how it got there.
I also just love long scenic walks, so even if you don't care for history, this is an excellent walking tour.
Our guide Alex was brilliant! He brought to life the history of Ireland from the Vikings to the present day set in the context of Dublin's varied streetscape. This tour is a prerequisite for trying to understand the political and social complexity of modern Ireland.
We took this tour the day we arrived in Dublin. We took the late afternoon tour and it did a great job of getting loosened up after the plane ride. The introduction provided by the guide on the history and politics of Ireland served us over our two week trip. We often referred back to things that he had told us. It is a great introduction to both Ireland and Dublin.
WONDERFUL WALKING TOUR WITH ALL THE BACKGROUND INFORMATION PROVIDED.
One of my favourite tours of my holiday. The tour guide was full of so much information and added a light hearted approach to the whole walking tour which was great. Covered a lot of ground but didn't feel rushed through each site which was great. At the end he also provided us with recommended places to eat. Definitely a must do!
We learned so much history from our history graduate guide. His enthusiasm was wonderful. He had so much he wanted to share with that our scheduled 2 hour walk actually lasted closer to three hours. I would not hesitate to recommend the Dublin Historical Tour to anyone
Learn d a lot about the city and seen a lot I wounds have seen.
Our tour guide Rose. Was amazing. We all wished she was with us for our entire trip. That girl knew her history and city. Give her a faise

This was a great introduction to Dublin. Our tour guide Alex, currently finishing his Ph.d in History, was funny and very knowledgeable about the history and locations in Dublin. He could answer every question asked by the group. I would highly recommend this tour.
This was very interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable with lots of stories about Irish history.
great tour and great guide... he really had to improvise... Joe Biden was in Dublin including Trinity College... and it poured ... but he had great spirit ...kept us moving and just changed the route as needed due to road closures or rain ..
highly recommend this... great orientation ... made the rest of our days in Dublin so much more efficient.
Our tour guide Grace was fabulous. She was knowledgeable and informative while keeping the tour interesting and engaging. Worth every penny.
This tour is a must if you enjoy history and definitely orientates you yo the city. Great photo opportunities as well!
Very knowledgeable guide!!
Highly recommended. Our guide Alexander was knowledgeable, witty and entertaining.
Took the 11 am tour starting at Trinity college and ended at 2:20 pm at Christ Church.
Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
Our guide was excellent and the tour was really 2 hours plus. I must have misunderstood, though, because I was expecting more of a Trinity College tour as well. We did not go inside any of the college buildings, just stood in the courtyard. On the other hand, we saw a lot of the city.
Our guide Daniel was full of knowledge, enthusiasm, and great wit. Learned a lot and had fun. Got a good feel for the area around Trinity College
Go raibh maith agat!
Brilliant, the guide knew so much and was so friendly and interested in the history of dublin that we were interested too!
