What a great tour! Our guide/driver, Valentine, was full of knowledge and very entertaining - including his singing! First stop was Glendalough and the monastic settlement founded by St. Kevin. It's in a beautiful setting in the Wicklow National Forest and we had time for the settlement, a short hike to a lovely lake, and delicious scones in the hotel restaurant. From there we went through the Wicklow Gap fogged in, unfortunately, and then down to the city of Kilkenny. We had plenty of time for a tour of the castle and at least one more site visit. We choose the Smithwick's Brewery. Also recommended were the Cathedral and another smaller church. Val was very good at giving us ideas when we arrived at a spot - where to eat, what to see, and even what order to see things to make the best use of your time. A lovely trip.
Amazing and astonishing journey to the beautiful Wicklow mountains and great historical visit of Kilkenny. The driver was so generously sharing and charming with our passengers relating to these interesting places to visit.
Excellent tour provided with excellent guide and driver who bring humour and expert commentary along the way. Great photo op and time to relax at all stops to let you discover and appreciate the beauties of Ireland. Do not miss this excellent tour.
This was great..the tour guide was wonderful and engaging....also helpful...a real pleasure.
This was the BEST tour I have ever been on. The tour guide VAL was so much fun and really was knowledgeable about the history. I had the best day ever!!
Despite all day rain we had a wonderful day with an excellent driver
Excellent trip with plenty of time roaming around the places we visited. Our guide, Leigh, was simply fantastic and didn't allow us having one dull moment during the trip. I highly recommend it.
Sem dúvida um dos melhores tours. A região de Wicklow é de uma beleza natural incrível e a oportunidade de visitar o Castelo de Kilkenny é uma coisa que não se pode perder.
Ônibus com wifi e guia muito simpático.
Amazing driver! I will always do Paddywagon tours from now on . Took others but this one did not rush you. No long bathroom lines, with 5 minutes to eat. Please do take a few days with no tours to just enjoy Dublin . Fantastic place.
Alex was a very entertaining, knowledgeable tour guide with great Irish pride. Although it rained in Glendalough I still found the cemetary fascinating and the views spectacular on the hike. Kilkenny was a delightful town, could have spent a half day there. We were given a good map with the highlights of what we could choose to visit. I learned a lot of the history of ireland.
A very good daytrip--Glendalough is one of my favorite places in the world and I could spend a week exploring Kilkenny. Our guide Frank managed to be both informative and entertaining, without getting tiresome.
This trip is a good oppurtunity to see beautiful Irish landscape Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough and visit Kilkenny.
Excellent driver and guide. Long coach trip but we knew it would be. Good chance to see the beautiful countryside.
We enjoyed our tour very much. County Wicklow is beautiful, and Kilkenny is charming. Our only regret was that the Kilkenny two-hour stop was at lunchtime, and by the time we found a place to eat and finished our lunch, we had very little time to explore. Is it possible to add another 30-60 minutes to the tour?
The coach was very comfortable. Our driver was friendly and helpful, but we became a little concerned when he seemed to be fighting to stay awake on the ride back to Dublin.
Our bus driver took us safely on this trip, which is so important, considering narrow mountain roads and traffic hazards. Our tour guide gave us much information and history of Ireland as we drove through the sites, infused with humor. Thanks much. Was not able to do another tour for lack of time. Will do so on my next visit. Thanks much. Lorette - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
Because there was no scheduled lunch time we only got about an hour or so in Kilkenny so you really need to hustle if you want to see anything. The town is so spread out that we were only able to see the castle and the black abbey and there were truly jogging back to catch the bus. The Wicklow Mountains were incredible.
This trip had ore driving than viewing. Here are some suggestions for improving this worthwhile destination:
Have driver make 1st stop at a facility that offers more than one male/female bathroom, we were let off at a gas station before entering the Wicklow Mts, for coffee and the facilities only to find ONE toilet shared by male and female passengers. We had to wait a very long time in line to use the bathroom. The coffee and snacks available were great!
We were in Glendalough in time for lunch, that would have been a much better place for lunch, as later at Kilkenny, it was closer to 2:30, and we were hungry. There was a very nice hotel at Glendalough, and we could have had lunch there and seem the ruins.
When we got to Kilkenny, which was late in the afternoon, all the tours of the castle were full. If we had the opportunity to sign up for a castle tour ahead of time, and the route was planned accordingly, it would have been a much better day. In Kilkenny we had to have lunch, and then walk around the village for a long time because we couldn't get into the castle. Another thought would be to reverse the direction of the tour so that the first stop is Kilkenny, with castle tour and walk, then driving to Glendalough and St. Kevin's later in the day. I understand that the views through the Wicklow Mts. might be compromised by darkness depending on the season, but at least then the trip a long bus ride wouldn't turn into a shopping trip, as that is not how the tour is presented in the material.
Our driver Frank provided a lot of local color, but it would have been more informative if he were given a script instead of the biased/opinionated commentary he provided us. A bit of this is great, but he had too much!!
We enjoyed our trip the guide was very good and knowledgable, the scenery around wicklow was as good as you get and was interested to know what films were shot there, and the derelic buildings that were left. Kilkenny was all that we expected and would go again for a longer stay. All in all a good trip was had by all.
This tour was awful. The tour guide was corny, patronizing, and obnoxious. The jerk knows that he and #39;s tone-deaf and insists on and #34;singing and #34; the most stupid Irish songs. Also don and #39;t appreciate the way he perpetuates negative Irish stereotypes by saying things like and #34;that and #39;s why most Irish are alcoholics and #34;.
