Meet your guide in central Dublin and soak up the scenery on the journey north. Jump out to marvel at the Hill of Tara, a series of striking grass-covered burial mounds set amidst the rolling hills of County Meath. Learn more about the ancient site and its importance as the seat of the ancient High Kings of Ireland as you roam the ruins and peek into the sacred tombs.
Next, continue to UNESCO-listed Newgrange, another one of Ireland’s most important ancient sites, dating from as early as 3,200 BC. Follow your guide on a walking tour of the fascinating Neolithic burial chambers, which are among the oldest and largest in Europe, and even pre-date the Egyptian pyramids. Along the way, enjoy the rare opportunity to explore inside the tombs, which are often closed to visitors.
On the return journey to Dublin, stop at the fishing village of Howth and admire the picturesque town before driving to Howth Summit for a wonderful view over Dublin Bay.
End your tour back in central Dublin.
Please note: To fully enjoy the sites of Newgrange and the Hill of Tara, you will need to pass over some uneven terrain – we recommend that you wear comfortable footwear and bring a jacket/coat with you.
