Dubrovnik Combo: Cable Car Ride to Mount Srd and Old Town Tour

Admire incredible panoramas of Dubrovnik from the top of Mount Srd

Meet your guide at the base of Mt. Srđ at the cable car station and then hop into the car to ascend this 1,352-foot (412-meter) mountain. Watch the city get smaller as you ascend up the rocky mountain. Once at the top, take some time to drink in the incredible views: the medieval walled town of Dubrovnik, the vast Adriatic Sea, the islands that dot the horizon. Locals claim that on a clear day you can see as far as 37 miles (67 kilometers).

After about an hour atop Mt Srđ, go down the way you went up: via the cable car. Once at the bottom, make the very short walk to Old Town, for Stari Grad, as locals call it, for the second portion of the tour: walking the streets of Old Town.

Stroll through Pile Gate, one of three entrances that go through the 12th-century walls and stop at Onofrio’s Fountain, a large circular structure with faucets that was the terminus for the 7.5-mile (12-km) aqueduct that flowed drinking water into Dubrovnik. Then walk over to the nearby medieval Franciscan monastery, home to a recently restored Pieta sculpture and one of the oldest still-working pharmacies in Europe.

Later amble down Stradun, the main pedestrian thoroughfare of the Old Town, and stop at the Renaissance-era Sponza Palace, today the home of the state archives. Within eyeshot, you’ll also visit Orlando’s Column, the Cathedral of the Assumption, and the Church of St Blaise, the city’s patron saint.

Interesting intro to the history/customs of Dubrovnik and Croatia. Enjoyed the view from top of the cable car although it was a bit cloudy we still managed to capture the vibrant rooftops of the old city.

Croatia have their own currency and the majority of outlets would take nothing else so i with drawed just enough to pay for items. Some shops did take the euro .We never had time to see the port and do a boat trip because of ships timetable but hope to visit again.

A great way to get to know Dubrovnik! Our guide Natasha was a true PRO, she was informative and gave us a nice historic overview of Dubrovnik. The view from the cable car is amazing and the walking tour is fun, no boring data and it really highlights the important parts of the city. Our group was small, which is pleasant. We are only sad we didn't book it including the City Walls. A must do!

Small number in group making it more personalised. Our guide Lilia was very knowledgeable and answered questions thoroughly.

The tour was informative and our hostess - Andrea - was very good. We began with the cable car to the top of Mount Srd which looks not only onto the town but also into Bosnia behind the town. Then we returned and had a thoughtful and thorough tour of the town. Be sure to wear non-slippery shoes!

This tour is really worthwhile, it gave us the perfect view of the Old Town from the short cable car ride and the views from the top were amazing. Shame there aren't places to get just cold drinks, ices and that there are not more places to sit, but apparently that is about to be addressed, by some sort of golf resort etc being built. The guide was great, really informative and he showed us all the Old Town had to offer, fitting a lot into the few hours with him.

I would highly recommend this tour. We learnt a lot about Dubrovnik and its history. Our guide was very knowledgeable on the subject and was able to answer all of our questions. The cable car was not open the day we did it but we were given tickets that we could use at a later date.
