What To Expect

Meet your guide in the morning and be prepared to get dazzled with impressive historical anecdotes and facts of Dubrovnik’s history. Begin at Pile Gate, one of three ways into the Stari Grad, or Old Town, and then stop at Onofrio’s Fountain, a multi-faucet drinking fountain connected to an aqueduct that has, for centuries, carried drinking water into the city. Then walk a few seconds more and you are at the Franciscan Monastery, home to one of the oldest still-functioning pharmacies in Europe. Wander around the 14th-century Gothic cloister and take in some of the art.

Stroll down the Stradun, the limestone-covered main pedestrian street of Dubrovnik and stop at the Renaissance-era palace, which houses the state archives. Right around you, see Orlando Column, the clock tower, which curiously shows the time in Arabic and Latin numerals and only changes every five minutes, the Rector’s Palace and the Church of St. Blaise, the patron saint of Dubrovnik. Across the square, walk a few minutes and visit the Cathedral of the Assumption, a beautiful Baroque sanctuary

Very informative. The guide was very friendly and understanding of our various needs as a group. Her historical scene setting was very good was much appreciated by the younger members of the group and married very well with my understanding of the happenings after president Tito death. The guided walking tour in a town I do not know before is the best way to start a short visit. After this it is easy to decide what are the sights you want to know better. This time we were only three persons attending the walk in Dubrovnik, so the experience was the best possible! Our guide Elvis was very good and with his clear and informative speech gave a professional insight in the history of this most remarkable city. Based on this I had a wonderful few days in Dubrovnik! Dubrovnik is such a historical city and this tour takes you through the entire history of it all. We took this our after we had already explored the city for a day by ourselves. The tour took us places we didn’t find by ourselves and gave fantastic historical perspective. Our tour guide was a local and even had some personal anecdotes to share.
