What You Can Expect

Dubrovnik Shore Excursion: Explore Dubrovnik by Cable Car

Dubrovnik Shore Excursion: Explore Dubrovnik by Cable Car

Get double the fun with this shore excursion by booking this combo tour. The tour begins when you leave Dubrovnik’s port and head to the cable car station. Ascend to the top of Mt Srđ, a 1,352-foot (412-meter) mound that affords for incredible views of the walled Old Town and the crystal blue Adriatic Sea. On a clear day, you can see as far as 37 miles (67 miles) out into the Adriatic.

Take an hour or so to drink in the view and then head back down to the Old Town to begin the second phase of the tour. With your local guide by your side, you'll hit all the best sights in the city, starting with Onofrio’s Fountain, a large circular structure with faucets that was the terminus for the 7.5-mile (12-km) aqueduct that flowed drinking water into Dubrovnik. Then walk over to the nearby Franciscan Monastery that houses a recently restored Pieta sculpture and one of the oldest still-functioning pharmacies in Europe.

After learning about the history of the monastery, slowly make your way down the Stradun, a wide — by Old Town standards — limestone-clad pedestrian street. As you pass the narrower intersecting lanes look up at how high each street climbs before being met by the 12th-century walls.

When you reach Sponza Palace, on the other end of the Stradun, stop and listen to your guide regale you with historical facts and anecdotes about the pretty Renaissance-era palace, which houses today the vast state archives.

Other sites you’ll see include the Rector’s Palace, Orlando’s Column, the city cathedral and the Church of St Blaise, a sanctuary dedicated to Dubrovnik’s beloved patron saint.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your excursion ends with ample time for you to return to Dubrovnik port for your ship’s departure. In the extremely unlikely event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Our young lady guide was excellent. She led the small group at a comfortable pace, and took care to choose stopping places where we could enjoy shade and relative quiet whilst she pointed out places of interest along the way and explained the ancient and recent history of the city.
At our designated start time, Dubrovnik was hit by a heavy rain shower. Our guide happily re-scheduled the tour an hour later to ensure that the weather improved, and then gave up her own time afterwards to ensure that we still got the full time and value. We were delighted by her consideration and commitment.

We had a wonderful time in Dubrovnik. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The cable car ride was fun and provided spectacular views from the top. The Old town was incredible beautiful and had so much history and so much to see. Loved the atmosphere and sitting at the Buzo bar. Excursion was well worth it and we enjoyed it very much. Just loved Dubrovnik....a hidden gem!

Very complete tour with very knowledgeable guide. Everything worked as stated in the viator confirmation page. This is a walking tour where you will have to climb narrow streets. People with strollers and people with mobility difficulties: this is not for you. The views from the top are amazing. Once you return down you will be given a short introduction to the walled city, and the entry points to the wall will be pointed out. Then you are on your own to explore.

our ship docked a bit later than expected and we made our way to the meeting point as soon as we could. I was a bit disappointed that they had left to start the tour without us. we provided contact information as well as the ship we were arriving at. In all other locations the tour folks stayed
informed of our arrival and contacted us if there was any question. That was not done here, but after we caught up with them it was a good tour. A good Samaritan standing around saw us looking for the tour group with the paper in our hand and figured out we needed help and called the tour company himself and communicated to us how to catch up with the tour

Our guide was very informative and the skip the line cable car meant very minimal waiting!

Good tour. The cable cable to the lookout above Dubrovnik is great. Interesting history on the walk.
