Amazing tour. Beautiful surroundings. Gives you a different view of Dubrovnik.
Great tour that allows you to see Dubrovnik from a different angle on the water. Kayaking was great however needs a good level of fitness as the total distance is about 7.5km. The snorkel was a little disappointing due to the large number of tour groups at the small beach. Still a great trip
This was a fabulous way to see Dubrovnik. Our guide Marko was informative, interesting and funny. He brought us a local lunch which was appreciated. We went for quite a trip - Marko told us everything we needed to know about kayaking. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED :-)
What an amazing trip! They were easy to locate and the guides were so friendly and engaging. They gave us great tips for activities in town and pointed out great features of the town and surrounding areas. We kayaked around a nearby island and then went for a snack and break at a small cave where we could swim and look at the little fishes. I can't wait to go back!
This is the way to go if you are in Dubrovnik. Our guide Marco was amazing, he gave us some history on the city as we kayaked to a small cove. He gave us some delicious local snacks and we had time to swim, snorkle and relax. Then we got back on the kayaks and went over to the nearby island of Lucro and back to the departure point. On the way back we experienced some high winds and pretty big waves, but Marco tied our kayak to his and was able to safely pull us back ashore. It was tiring but I would certainly do it again! Memorable experience.
Fantastic!!! A great way to see Dubrovnik. Our guide was very knowledgable about the history and he made it so interesting. Would recommend this tour.
We really enjoyed the chance to see beautiful Dubrovnik from the water side. The tour guides were personable, safe, and knowledgeable. We got to hear about the history of the city and ask questions. We will remember this experience always. Be warned there is a competing group of kayak adventures who are vey pushy and strangely will warn you away from this tour. I found them to be unprofessional and inaccurate. Our guides and equipment were fantastic!
Very fun tour! We kayaked almost 5 miles around an island and got in about 30 minutes of snorkeling. Recommended!
Don't worry, you will make it back to your ship in time...that was my biggest worry. The on site viator guides were willing to refund us if we thought we couldn't catch the return bus to the ship. (That helped) July (temp about 85F) We are active (45 y/o married couple) - No exp. necessary (training provided) Our guide was Antonella - She was absolutely great! She customized our excusion to fit our time. Our excursion was supposed to start at 5:30PM, they started it at 5:00PM and finishing at 7:15PM (Viator guide Antonella - gave us the option to shorten our tour due to weather / catching the last bus 8PM to Cruise ship)
The cruise ship bus takes you to the point where the Viator tour starts and ends (can't get lost)
Professional - Knowledgeable - English speaking - Safety gear provided
Learned the history of Dubrovnik as we kayaked
An air tight container (Either large or small - you pick) is provided to put your wallets, ipad's and camera's etc into - It is secured to your kayak.
Sea water was beautifully clean, and not too cold (perfect)
Provided a complimentary bottle of water
Snorkeled from a sea cave - and we saw many sea creatures (fish) from the minute you put your head into the water.
HINT** If you have individuals who aren't interested in the kayaking, they can ride the same bus ($12 USD p/p for round trip) to your drop off point and site see. Conveinently located, they will definitely have plenty to see while you are on your excursion...and then again, the pick up point is the same for every ship.
None - Just plan on being tired and laughing a lot (Especially if you are a couple in a double kayak)
A fantastic kayaking trip. We thought the tour was great value for money. We joined 6 others, so made up a group of 10. We had two guides which was great for risk management. We went at a good pace, not too fast, not too slow. If there is a place to do some kayaking Dubrovnik is it. This was my first Viator experience, and I would definitely use them again to book excursions. I should also mention that this trip cost us 34euro compared to the cruise ship excursion of $150USD. We watched the cruise tour go with 20 people in one group with the same kayak company and felt fortunate that we had booked with Viator.
A great trip, the instructors were very informative and patient and a great way to see Dubrovnik and get away from the crowds. Think it may be a little difficult for a complete beginner to kayaking though as you paddle across open water and round an island which can be very tiring.
beautiful views and experienced kayaking guide. It was a fun and unique excursion. Challenging to find due to not having a worker at the designated meeting spot. The route was changed due to rough seas, which was fine, but he seemed to have us kayaking randomly around to "use up the time" for the trip. Perhaps a more exciting "Plan B" should be devised b/c it was obvious that he was wasting time.
excellent, all my friends enjoy the sea kayak. It was a lot of fun :)
Firstly, the Kayaking part was good, covering 7 1/2 km we were told over moderate water. We set off from below the town walls and around to the port area before crossing to a small cave/stone beach. We spent approx 30 mins swimming, snorkelling and relaxing before setting off around the nearby island and then back to the start.Approx 3 hrs.Not recommended for anybody unfit.
Better organisation required in finding the company dealing with the booking as took 30 mins of running about before anyone would acknowledge our vouchers and we were not the only ones.Apparently the people supposed to be taking the booking were on a team building exercise elsewhere but no one thought to tell the poor customers!
Be warned: This is very physically demanding.
Now that you've been warned...the tour staff was superlative and the views were stunning.
I had an amazing time! The waters are incredibly blue there so beautiful. We went into a few caves then stopped on a beach for a sandwich and we got to snorkel. I would recommend this trip to anyone.
Beautiful views... More physically demanding and we moved a bit slower then we expected, which left little time to rest or enjoy the views.
Overall, the logistics leading up to the sea kayaking Viator tour was not as advertised. What is even worse, the picture used for this advertisement is actually a picture of the "competitors" kayaks; the actual kayaking service is directly across from the picture site, making this entire experience quite confusing and frustrating. Also, the so-called easy directions provided are not that at all; none of the "talk to me about sea kayaking" groups know where to send you--in the end, we matched the advertisement picture, walked down the stairs to the kayaks, asked the "competitor" and eventually was loosely directed to the appropriate check-in spot.
Next, the check-in attendant was uninterested, not friendly and certainly not in the mood for providing additional details regarding the sea kayaking event. Moreover, the tour started 15-20mins late and ended over an hour late due to the unannounced and unadvertised length of the actual amount of "sea kayaking" being done.
For context, this excursion is 99% sea kayaking (over 8 miles) and 1% snorkeling. There was less than 15mins of really snorkeling time; the rest of the 30min stop was used to recover for the upcoming, unknown and unexpected 6-7mile sea kayaking tour around the nude beach island--Viator's travel experts clearly left this 'revealing' detail out. Word for the wise: this isn't a "casual" kayaking tour; if your party is not in great to excellent physical shape, they will struggle mightily and tire out quickly.
One bright spot: the first stop at the cave inlet for snorkeling--there is an actual cliff that can be climbed and subsequently jumped off (i.e. 7-10meters) for a free and fun cliff diving experience! This definitely beats paying 100 kuna to jump from the Old Dubruvnik city wall. So instead of snorkeling, I would plan on grabbing a quick breather and then take a few cliff jumps before kayaking past all the nudes :)
Final conclusion: save your money and do the Elafiti Islands tour :)
We had no idea where to go to find the tour. There were no signs. Another competitor company had to tell us where to go to get the excursion. The directions from were Viator were not correct. Our tour guide kept a very fast pace and did not do a whole lot of encouraging. He seemed more interested in himself getting in a workout. We did love stopping to snorkel. The sea was beautiful and it was a nice break. On the way back the ocean was incredibly choppy, windy and almost impossible to kayak in. We made it....barely. It was not kayaking water. If that is the case they should really have jet skis or something to help people get back and cross the channel. Again, our guide was way way way ahead. Then, when we got back, he asked us if there were more people behind us? Ummm, it was all we could do to get ourselves back, we were not focusing on other people. We would not do this tour again but we absolutely loved Dubrovnik. It was absolutely beautiful.
