Go all ‘Game of Thrones’ while in Split by booking this cool combo tour. This Viator Exclusive allows you to walk in the footsteps of your favorite GoT character. Travel to the fictional city of Meereen and stop by the mountainside fortress of Klis. Then go to the real UNESCO World Heritage-listed Diocletian’s Palace. On the second day, go to Dubrovnik and get all the gossip about the series and the filming of the show. Please note: Depending on the availability of the tour, you can decide on the day and the order in which you wish to do the tour.
Viator Exclusive: Game of Thrones Tour in Split (3.5 Hours)
Head to the ancient and fascinating Diocletian’s Palace in the center of Split to meet your guide. Then, take a short drive to Klis Fortress, a two-millennia-old fort that played a part in Game of Thrones: it was the fictional city of Meeree. The fortress served as a buttress between the Ottoman and Mediterranean cultures, and has been the seat of many Croatian kings. In its 2,000 year history, the site has been lost, won and reconquered many times.
Learn from your guide how Daenerys Targaryen attacked the city, and visualize the fight between Meereen’s champion and Daenerys’ chosen champion: Daario Naharis.
Later head back to Diocletian’s Palace and see where certain GoT scenes were shot. Explore the famed throne room, and step down into the cellars to see the same spots where slaves plotted with the Unsullied Army and Grey Worm to defeat their masters.
Your Dubrovnik walking tour ends outside the palace. And, if you’re continuing on for the second portion of the tour, you’ll recommence in Dubrovnik on a later day.
Viator Exclusive: Game of Thrones Walking Tour in Dubrovnik (3 Hours)
When you arrive in Dubrovnik, meet up with your local guide just inside Pile Gate and begin an on-foot tour of GoT sites inside the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Old Town.
Wander around the romantic Old Town streets to see where certain scenes were filmed, including those involving the Targaryens — a noble family banished from the city of King’s Landing when Robert Baratheon claimed the Iron Throne. Then, visit the spots where Ayra Stark dwelled on the streets after battles erupted between the Starks and the Lannisters.
Move on to the awesome and imposing city walls that were attacked by the Baratheons in Series 1. Then go check out Lovrijenac Fortress, which starred in many scenes of conflict. From the top of the fort, look down at make-believe Blackwater Bay, and try to conjure up images of the fierce Battle of Blackwater: the largest battle in the War of the Five Kings. Next, head to several parks that were used to film various scenes out in the countryside.
The tour finishes not far from where it began. If you chose to go on the walking tour of Dubrovnik first, your Split tour will take place on another day.
Upgrade Option Including Trsteno Arboretum (5.5 Hours)
Upgrade the tour to see yet another Game of Thrones filming spot. When the walking tour concludes, board a minibus and travel north of Dubrovnik for about 30 minutes to Trsteno Arboretum, which was used as the palace gardens in the city of King’s Landing. Created in the late-15th century as a summer residence and gardens for a nobleman, Trsteno was later turned into an exciting arboretum, lavished with ancient trees, exotic shrubs, fountains and statues.
Hear stories about the War of the Five Kings — between Joffrey, Stannis and Renly Baratheon; Robb Stark and Balon Greyjoy — as you admire the park’s architectural aspects, as well as the all the exciting flora that grows in the arboretum. Conclude the tour by getting dropped off in Dubrovnik.
Viator Exclusives combine unique experiences and great deals — from traditional tours to once-in-a-lifetime experiences — and are not available from other 3rd-party online sellers.
For all GOT fans this is a must-do tour in both Dubrovnik and Split
I don't see how I can do separate reviews for Dubrovnik and Split, so I have to combine. Both very knowledgeable, not just about the show but history of the cities which I think is important.
Dubrovik specific - went on a Monday, still had a decent sized crowd. Tour guide was Andrea I don't remember her real Croatian name. Doesn't hurt that she was very cute also: I recommend doing the optional tour of the Garden, it's double the cost but you're in a place which is much less crowded and therefore have to deal with less tourists.
Split - went on a Friday, got lucky as it's offseason and I was with only one other person, so we had very exclusive tour, and tour guide showed us a lot more than usual groups during peak season. Tour guide was Marin, lot more of actual city history on this one which was really cool.

Fully recommended for any GoT fan out there.
Both tours, in both Split and Dubrovnik, were organised well with lots of good insight into the GoT show whilst being interlinked with the histories of the either location and Croatia as a whole.
Tour guides on both tours were knowledgable and interesting so I didn't find myself losing interest at any point.
A must for a GOT fan. Was smiling from ear to ear the whole time!
We loved these tours but lots of walking and stairs to climb. Learned local history, too which was very interesting. Beautiful country. Will go again
Brilliant Tours both in Dubrovnik and Split. Great Guides. Would recommend in a heartbeat.
Great experience. 'Elite travel tours are marginally more expensive than others, but after booking a couple of different tours with other companies I would definitely recommend going with Elite - worth every penny. Our guide in Split was very knowledgeable both on GOT and on the history of the city when we went to Kils fortress, we actually spent more time talking about the history of the place totally fascinating, even more than City of Mereen in GOT. The price of the tour in Split also includes the entrance to Diocletian palace's cellars as the tour ends there, you can stay there and continue exploration on your own.
In Dubrovnik, Tea did a great job of telling us about Dubrovnik history and so many behind the scenes GOT moments that we really felt as if we are part of the movie. We also went to the Trsto Arboretum - nice place if you want to get out of crowds for a while and enjoy the gardens of King's Landing. I believe that based on the customers' feedback, Elite changed the itinerary a little, as we didn't get to go to the walls during the tour, but we received the tickets instead and therefore were able to enjoy the full wall walk at our own pace and time highly appreciated, as we went up there after the midday heat became somewhat bearable, so we were actually able to enjoy it.
The only suggestion to elite would be to try and schedule some of the morning tours earlier in the morning, to avoid the walks under the midday sun. Since the demand for GOT tours is high, it would be nice to have a choice between starting at 10.15 and 8:15. Given the choice, I personally would choose the earlier option. In any case, great experience, friendly and knowledgeable guides - highly recommended!
Excellent tour whether you are a Game of Thrones fan or not!! Totally enjoyed the whole day, in both Dubrovnik and Split. Guides are really knowledgeable and entertaining. And the scenery is fantastic! Wonderful experience!
My wife is a complete Game of Thrones fanatic. I am not so much. This tour was very much geared to wards a GOT fan, but, the tour contained so many beautiful places and historic information that it was enjoyable to me as well. We did the two day Split/Dubrovnik tour. It was well managed and both guides were very knowledgable not just on the GOT stuff but the real history of the places that were in the show. Both cities are really incredible to see and this was a fun way to see them. I would recommend these tours to anyone.
Amazing tour! Started in Split- the guide, Marin, was funny, friendly and explained so much about not only the filming locations, but the history of Split. A couple of days later I went on the Dubrovnik tour, which was a highlight of my whole trip. The guide, Natalie, was so informative about the history of Dubrovnik, whilst also having amazing knowledge of Game of Thrones and some inside gossip! Walking up to the top of Fort Lovrijenac to see King's Landing from up high was insane. You couldn't help but feel like a Khaleesi walking the city walls despite all the steps and sweat- I advise wearing comfortable shoes! Brilliant tours with brilliant guides- couldn't have wished for anything better. :
