What You Can Expect

Düsseldorf Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour and Rhine River Sightseeing Cruise

Discover the city on a hop-on hop-off bus and during a river cruise

With your 48-hour ticket (valid from first use), see the best of Düsseldorf by double-decker bus! Hop aboard the bus at any of the route’s eight stops (full itinerary listed below) and enjoy the flexibility of choosing your own schedule, pace and tour duration. Along the way, enjoy fascinating commentary and snippets of local history. (Note: Live tour in German; audio tour available in 10 languages)

Once onboard, grab a comfortable seat in either the indoor or open-air seating section and take in the sights along the full route (approximately 1.5 hours long). Sit through the entire loop, or hop off at any stop to check out the landmarks – another bus will be along in approximately 30 minutes.

Visit the trendy Königsallee shopping districts, and Düsseldorf’s delightful Alstadt (Old Town) to see town hall and St Lambertus church. Creative types will love art-gazing at the regional museum Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen and admiring the modern buildings that speckle the city. Between stops, stroll along the Rhine embankment and through bustling neighborhoods, stopping for refreshment at one of Düsseldorf's many vibrant bars.

At the Rhine river stop, board a sightseeing boat and relax for the 1-hour float past Alstadt and Media Harbor, ornamented by the futurist architecture of Frank Gehry. (Note: Cruises depart every 90 minutes during the morning and afternoon.) After your cruise, hop back on the bus, or stick around and explore the harbor's hip eateries and bars.

Disembark at any stop along the route to end your tour. Easy!

It took me an hour to find the location to get on the cruise. Fortunately they had a book festival and I enjoyed walking around. The tour bus would not accept my downloaded pass. I had to find the office to get the passes. All and all, I enjoyed my cruise and tour bus ride.

We had a hard time in trying to be accepted for this tour. It was Sunday and the store was closed there. The driver said he could not take us on the tour because the reservation needed to be validated by the office. We made and paid for this reservation in the US. We were sent to different people and places in order to do the tour. In the end, we were able to do it but we were too tired.

This was a good experience, especially the Rhine cruise. However, there is wrong information in the printout. It says the buses run every 30 minutes. However, we waited for 45 minutes and no bus came. The tourist info center was closed so we went back the next day. They then informed us that the buses only run every hour.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better May 2016

There was not a lot to see in Düsseldorf. Some of the stops you couldn and #39;t even see what was being talked about. You had to walk a few minutes to get to it. Also when there was something to see, the bus drove by it very quickly. The most ridiculous part is the 25 min pause at the Hbf.
