Everything was as we expected, all very well organised, running on time, excellent commentary, markets at the half way mark where locals had their hand made knitted items etc. Shuttles to and from the boat came every 10 mins so there was no waiting. Dunedin Railway Station is stunning. There is some walking involved down one way up the other way. But a very entertaining trip.

A great ride from the Dunedin railway station which is a beautiful building in itself. The ride up the gorge was amazing filled with beautiful scenery and knowledgeable commentary from the conductor on board. There was a snack car available and at Pukerangi where the train turned around we were met by local women with crafts for sale. Travel up on one side of the car then move to the other side for the return trip for the best views.

Great scenery, comfortable seats not cramped with good buffet car. Better in my view than the Alaka Yukon White Rail journey

This was a very enjoyable trip in vintage but surprisingly comfortable wooden carriages the commentary was informative but light hearted and the views were terrific with lots of opportunities to step outside to get better photos plenty of refreshments on the train if you wish but no pressure to buy.

Fantastic experience. Cruise ship had booked earlier service and decided we would leave port earlier than planned, but staff from Taieri railway arranged a shuttle for us when we got back and coordinated with cruise staff to ensure we made It back on time. Thanks!

A must for railway fans and mountain viewers alike. You go from the impressive Railway Station at Dunedin through very stunning scenery. The photos don't do it justice go and see it instead.
