Your tour begins with an 8.30am pickup from your Dunhuang hotel by private vehicle and an around 1-hour journey to the Yumenguan Pass. Accompanied by your private guide, learn more about the remote site and discover its importance, as a bustling caravan site on the ancient Silk Road.
Nearby, visit one of the best-preserved sections of the Great Wall of China, and learn how it was built some 2,200 years ago, using a mixture of sand, dirt, rose willow, reed and apocynum. This section of the Great Wall is completely different from the most visited sections at Badaling and Mutianyu, offering a new perspective even for those who have already seen the Wall.
After a scenic 1-hour drive, arrive at the final stop of the day – the Yadan National Geological Park. Enjoy a shuttle ride around the park, jumping out along the way to admire the park’s geological wonders and otherworldly rock formations, which have been given evocative nicknames such as ‘The Lion’, ‘The Peacock’s Tail’, ‘The Pyramid’, and ‘The Sphinx’.
On return to Dunhuang, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 4.30pm.
