Marvel at ancient masonry as you wander the verdant enclave of the park, appreciating stunning panoramas of the ocean. LD: Depart from your hotel in Hanga Roa in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan to begin your enriching exploration of the Rapa Nui National Park, a cultural and natural sanctuary that sprawls across the majority of Easter Island. Alongside your expert archeologist guide, wander among 900 characteristic moai sculptures and discover their fascinating origin; carved from solidified volcanic ash, the precise masonry of each statue has mystified experts for centuries.

Visit the sprawling ceremonial site of Ahu Vinapu to see some of the most advanced masonry in the world, then continue north to Puna Puna to see alternative representations of maoi sculptures; note the distinctive red knots atop their heads, made from red scoria, an igneous rock with a vibrant red hue.

Refresh with a relaxing rest at the harbor of Hang Piko, not forgetting to examine the sacred structures deemed protective of the fishermen.

See, too, the colossal moai sculptures of Ahu Akivi, a line of seven 16-foot (5-meter) effigies that gaze solemnly out to sea; the sea-facing direction of the sculptures has confounded archaeologists for years due to the fact all of the other sculpture face inwards. Listen as your guide reveals intriguing theories regarding the reason for this anomaly.

Relax during your journey back to your hotel, where the engaging exploration of Easter Island concludes.

It was just great. The worst part was getting there and back. The tours were well organized and the tour guides excellent and informative. Christina was especially effective and helpful. But the most memorable were the local people, who were friendly and kind and made the whole experience unforgettable. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

Great tour of Easter Island to be able to see and hear stories of some fascinating sites. Tour guide was excellent and offered the tour bilingually though less English as English-speakers were a small minority. The tour group size was a bit large, but for the price and the quality of the guides, I would definitely recommend this tour! I did the two half-day tours on different days, which was perfect.

We were impressed that the guide waited for us at Anakena Beach until 1200 and then waited until nearly 1400 for all people on our tour. The tour was modified to include Ahu Akiva, Rano Raraku and Tongariki. We were extremely happy with the tour presented and very satisfied with our guide.

This is one for those with more time on the Island or are keen on the building of the statues and platforms. It visits the one showing similarities with Inca stone work, The top Knot Quarry and the Inland site where the Moai look towards the sea.

We landed at 1:00pm and this tour allowed us to have lunch and then begin a tour of sights that were not included in our full-day tour the next day. Puna Pau was closed that day and our guide took us to a lave cave instead, which was perfect since we would not have seen one otherwise.

The ship would not let us off until everyone who had signed for an Oceana tour had gotten off first. The tour guide waited for us which was fantastic. We got a three hour tour which was great.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better September 2015

Guide gave way more explanations in Spanish than English.
