Several components make for a more than one day tour: the subject matter, the pacing, the group of fellow travelers, the accommodations and the tour guide. My heavens! What beautiful country! Some might say that the occasional rain storm dampened the enjoyment, but, for me, the rain only made the countryside more dramatic and wild. There was good opportunity to listen, learn and wander in a variety of locations. We stopped often enough to make the driving time comfortable and to experience the society and the landscape, to get a sense of things. My fellow travelers were from Taiwan and China and I am from the East Bay in California. You’d think that traveling with 16 previously unknown people in one van would prove awkward and entrapping. But, we figured out how to be both private and interactive. We laughed a lot, told stories, asked questions about Scotland and rested when we needed to rest and be quiet. What good company I was in! I was a single traveler and the BnB rooms I stayed in were all clean, well furnished and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the BnB I stayed in on the Isle of Skye. Now, to the last component: the tour guide. Ours was a fellow named Barney. He told great little stories and gave informative lectures. He seemed to know when to talk and when to take time off. I especially enjoyed his sense of humor and his good driving. I couldn’t imagine doing this tour in three days - simply because the ratio of time to wander and explore to driving time would shift. I’m glad I had the extra day.

Beautiful landscape, great tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and nice slow pace. We saw a lot and kept moving, but never felt rushed. Loved the small group size too.

My tour guide was James. he was extremely friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable. Our tour was perfect for sight seeing but a great non-stop history lesson as well. If you are looking for an engaging tour that you could learn from while enjoying the beautiful scenery this is the right tour for you.
