This was an amazing tour and our tour guide, Jude, was outstanding! After leaving the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh, we arrived in a lovely town called Kelso. We stopped there to pick up something for breakfast. This town looked like it stood still in time. I had the best sandwich in my life in this town. We continued then towards the border of Scotland and England. Jude recommended we walk across the border, which we did. We arrived in Alnwick Castle which was beautiful with rolling hills and lots of treasures. We saw numerous pheasants walking across the grounds. On our way back, Jude drove past the coast, we stopped in a town for fish and chips and to buy wool sweaters. This tour was definitely worth taking!
Probably one of the most beautiful castle we have ever seen. Overall a wonderful trip and highly recommended!
Loved it! Plenty of time to explore the castle. Very informative guide.
I absolutely loved this tour! We booked with Rabbie tours and our guide was Willie. He was great! I loved all the stops we made and Willie went above and beyond I felt like. If at all possible request him!!!
We enjoyed our day very much. I had a rental car and could have driven but it was nice to sit in a nice bus, enjoy the scenery and let someone else drive. Since it was my daughter's first trip to Europe, it was also a kick to cross over to England and take a picture at the border. The countryside is remarkable. We spent 1/2 our trip in the Highlands so seeing the south of Scotland was a great experience because they're very different.
A remarkable place to visit. It hits all the marks and Rabbies tour guide was perfect. A must trip even if you are not a Harry Potter fan. Mike is a great tour guide. Thank you Mike.
The Castle was absolutely amazing. The only problem was the trip arrived arrived back in Edinburgh too late and we missed another appointment. The last toilet stop was far too long.
Our tour guide Jude was really entertaining and informative! We really enjoyed our time...We had to buy our tickets to Alnwick castle and the gardens and they were worth it!! Inside the castle was spectacular. Since the weather was so nice we alsovisited the beach by Bamburgh castle. Beautiful views
Alnwick Castle was great but we needed more time. The tour guide was lots of fun and very knowledgeable. The Rabbie's tour company is fantastic. I would take any tour with them. They have their act together and check in is easy and everyone was friendly and helpful.
My husband and I really enjoyed this tour! Our guide was Richard and he was awesome- lots of knowledge, good stories, and funny too. The castle was a lot of fun to explore. Would highly recommend!
nice day. the castle was great and the food in the cafe was good. we enjoyed the swinging bridge and children were having a great time. we liked the hairy coos and the sheep.
Our day traveling the Scottish borders, England and Alnwick castle WOW!!! highly recommended Highlight was flying on broomsticks along with seeing so many sites you'd only see on tv or in the movies. MIke our driver through Rabbie's was brilliant. Thank you for an awesome day.
This place is so great. I totally enjoyed it : Rabbis is great for these kind of tours. I just loved it.
A few days ago I had the most wonderful time visiting the Scottish Borders and Alnwick Castle, which was led so adeptly and with great humour by our guide, James. The locations we visited were steeped in history and so beautiful. Our guide gave us plenty of time to soak in our surroundings as well.
This trip was amazing! Our guide was Catty, who was so sweet and very informative, very kind and witty, and she truly sought to make our trip the best it could possibly be. She had both great information about the landmarks and about Scotland in general as well as fun anecdotes that we really enjoyed. We really enjoyed the trip and we highly recommend it!
As always Gill, the Rabbies tour guide, was knowledgable, entertaining and very happy to help with any sort of question or need. We spent a short time in Kelso viewing the abbey ruins before heading off to Alwick. The castle is very well organized for tourists and we had plenty of time there. There are several different venues for eating, lots of clean restrooms and several options for activities. We opted to tour the state apartments which was a good view into how the nobility currently live. At least if you are the Duke of Northumberland. The docents were knowledgable but they answered questions so there was no tour as such. The kids really enjoyed playing quiddich and getting their photos flying on brooms. There was also a dragon quest area but we didn't participate. Parents are shown costumes worn by Downton Abbey stars in the castle state rooms. There are also all the wonderful portraits and furnishings as well as the china which is nicely displayed. The grounds are beautiful and the gardens are amazing. It was a very fine place for families to visit. After our visit to Alnwick we drove back along the east coast of the North Sea and along the Firth of Forth into Edinburgh. The Borders are very different countryside to the highlands and even the lowlands and it made for a nice change of scenery. Well worth the time especially for families.
Our tour guide was Gillian and our driver was Nick. This tour was nice, not only because of the places were visited, but also because the bus only holds 16 people, plus the driver. The smaller group size made the trip more enjoyable. We saw Alnwick Castle, which was used as a locale for several productions, including two Harry Potter movies and two holiday episodes of Downton Abbey. There were activities for children in the courtyard and ghost stories told in the cellars for those 12 and older. A thoroughly enjoyable day.
This tour was amazing!! Grant, the guide did an outstanding job in every aspect of the tour.
The Rabbie mini bus trip made for a fully and enjoyable day with insightful local storytelling along the journey. I was travelling alone and have a phobia to group tours and yet found this trip was set up to drop us off at particular spots so we could explore them ourselves. It was an magical opportunity to go back to the place I lived when I was 11. My sister and I spent many hours playing in the grounds of the Alnwick castle, as kids, when it was just field of grass 40 years ago. It was a delight to see and walk through the extraordinary water gardens that have been insight of the Duchess of Northumberland. It has brought the life back into the beauty little town. I was a bit taken back that the Grand Cascade was in my memory though it wasn't built until 25 year after the time I was there! The Border Country between Scotland and England does tend to feel like it could pass through time!
Had a wonderful time with our tour guide Catty. She was very pleasant, informative and passionate about Scottish/UK history. Alnwick is a picturesque castle and the borders are a lovely drive.
A great day out with a great driver/host. We covered a surprising amount of ground but the pace was acceptable with the right amount of breaks.
Ewan B was a great guide, and we really enjoyed the trip. It was very well planned, and I liked that the group was smaller-maxes out at 16 or so ours was 7 total. I also appreciated the group discount for my ticket into the Alnwick Castle and grounds it was not included in the trip purchase, but it said so at the time of booking. I would definitely book with them again.
