Da Vinci Code and Scottish Borders Small Group Day Trip from Edinburgh

Melrose Abbey, Scotland

Your ‘Da Vinci Code’ adventure departs in the morning from central Edinburgh. Meet your expert guide and board the luxury minivan for a half-day tour of the Scottish borderlands and some of the area’s most legendary locations.
Your first stop is the epic viewpoint at Scott’s View — named for Sir Walter Scott — perched high above Tweed Valley and Eildon Hills. Snap some photos of Roman ruins and the rugged Scottish landscape, then continue to the lovely town of Melrose, an ancient settlement along the River Tweed. Stroll through the town that suffered a history of English invasion to see Melrose Abbey, the burial place of Robert the Bruce’s heart. Founded by Cistercian monks in the 12th century, the abbey offers a legendary history connecting the Cistercians to the Knights Templar. Tour the space and grab some lunch in town (own expense).
After lunch, continue to the mysterious Rosslyn Chapel, a 15th-century masterpiece that enjoyed a critical role in The Da Vinci Code. Explore the medieval structure and study the chapel's elaborate stonework, loaded with provocative symbolism. Hear some of the many theories, myths and legends about the chapel that attracts visitors from around the globe, then relax on the ride back to Edinburgh.
Your 6-hour tour ends at Waverley Bridge.
Note: The tour includes a discount card to top Edinburgh and Scotland attractions, restaurants, pubs and shopping.

Once again, small group less than 16 on the trip is the way to go. Always for group to quickly depart and get to the next stop. Enjoyed seeing the Melrose Abbey and the Church where some of the Da Vinci Code was filmed. Only issue is that you can't take pixs in the church wink wink - don't get caught. Make sure that you pet William the Cat during your visit.

The pick up stop for the tour was located very close to the Holiday Inn Express and downtown.

What a fun trip! There was a little rain - but who cares? This is Scotland. Nothing that a beautiful abbey, lush greenery, and warm soup and sandwich can't cure! Melrose Abbey was beautiful. There was a wedding going on so that made it more surreal. Rosslyn Chapel was just as stunning but unfortunately, no inside photos were allowed. Our guide was awesome and had a great laugh. Really a great little trip. And it was very organized at Rabbie's Cafe in downtown Edinburgh. I use Viator for EVERY tour and they have never failed yet!

For the life of me, I cannot remember our driver's name, but he was incredibly knowledgable and detailed in his sharing of the local history. The tour was run by Rabbie's Trail Burners and it was the second tour I've done with them. Thoroughly impressed both times and will recommend them every time. The stops at Melrose Abbey and Rosslyn Chapel were long enough to explore the sites without feeling rushed and the ladies at the chapel did a fantastic job with their presentations as well. Top quality.

Tour guide Al was very knowledgeable about Scottish history and narrated while he drove the tour bus. We enjoyed the drive through the countryside to the different sites. We felt the length of the tour was just right.
