This tour was amazing! The driver was informative and so nice. I would do this tour again. Simply wonderful.
Informative and entertaining tour guide. Beautiful scenery. Worth every minute.
Rosslyn Abbey is truly magnificent! Our guide was super friendly too, thoroughly enjoyed the trip. He gave us lots of stories and tips during the ride. The journey also passed by several scenic spots.
Great trip and our driver was very friendly and accommodating to all our questions throughout the trip. I would definitely recommend doing this one
We were fortunate enough to have a small group. Keith kept us VERY entertained. He was knowlegeable, funny and very accommodating (poor guy had two yanks and one canuck to deal with...ALL girls) but he handled it like a pro. If you get the chance to take this tour its well worth it!!!!
Lovely trip despite the weather. Tour guide Christopher one heaps about the history of the area.
Beautiful beautiful country to travel through, in comfy coach with our guide Ally, the most informative guide I have had the pleasure of touring with. Rosslyn Chapel was a standout, and Ally made sure we made it in perfect time for the talk n tour of this beautiful kirk. Its a really lovely, easy day and weather makes no difference. So just go and take your camera
We really enjoyed visiting the lowlands and seeing Rosslyn and Melrose. Our guide Peter was great.
Erik was a fantastic as our driver and guide. The tour was perfect in length and very comfortable.
Erik was awesome. He shared lots of information about Scotland the history of it. Beautiful country land views and Rosslyn chapel a true treasure. The trip is absolutely worth the time and money.
Best tour of my visit. Gill was a wonderful guide and spoke about the human side of Scottish history vs the rote history that other guides dispensed.
Since this beautiful area covers fewer miles than any other, this is an excellent tour for relief from long trip fatigue. Lovely towns and sites. Franziska was an exceptional tour guide with a nice mix of stories and music. Marmions Brasserie in Melrose was a great place for lunch. It was delicious and the service was prompt leaving us plenty of time to enjoy the abbey and town.
Very pleasant experience. Tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly and made sure we understood him as a Scottish accent
can at times be a challenge- or so he thought!. The tour was worth what it cost and we were pleased we took it. Would recommend it to anyone planning to do likewise.
The sites of this trip were spectacular. It's easy to get toured out, but this tour was worth it. Melrose Abbey and Roslyn Chapel were breathtaking and Scott's View was spectacular. Our guide was interesting and engaged with all the people on this trip. I would have liked to have spent a little more time at Roslyn Chapel, but the trip was perfect other than that.
Highly recommended----Take your umbrella/rainwear---Showers in Scotland happen often--don't tend to last very long-Thankfully
Great tour. Guide was knowledgeable and fun to listen to. Would recommend.
Loved this tour. Our driver/tour guide was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. Nice amount of time at each of the stops. Small bus was very comfortable.
Visiting Roselyn Chapel was a once in a life time opportunity. The van ride was comfortable.
Bob was delightful and informative. He started the tour with an introduction of Edinburgh's history. He has lots of stories about Robert the Bruce, William Wallace, Walter Scott, and of course, Queen Mary. Throughout the tour, we could really sense he loves his job. The Scottish borders are enjoyable especially when the skies are clear. Thankfully the weather was perfect during our tour. We loved going around the town of Melrose and enjoyed Rosslyn Chapel's amazing details. This is a good tour to take if you are pressed for time in Edinburgh. Thank you, Bob! All the best from Team Philippines! :
My husband and I booked this tour for a free day on our larger tour. A friend recommended Rosslyn Chapel and Melrose Abbey, and we were glad this tour was available. Kim, our guide, was very entertaining as she shared a lot of information during our drive from Edinburgh to the Abbey. We began in a light rain but it finally stopped by the time we arrived at the William Wallace statue overlooking the Tweed River. Our next stop was Melrose where we visited the Melrose Abbey and found the burial site of the heart of Robert the Bruce. The Abbey is a ruin now, but beautiful, and is very well maintained as are the cemetery and gardens on the site.
After a quick sandwich, we were off to Rosslyn Chapel, our main interest. We knew of it as the closing scene of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code. Rosslyn Chapel is truly unique. Every surface of its interior is beautifully carved stone. The stone masons who created this interior have no equal. Restoration has been an ongoing effort for years, and the Chapel is an active Anglican church. A brief presentation about the Chapel was given by one of the docents. She and another woman stayed with the crowd and answered questions. Even with the printed guide in the chapel we all needed their help in deciphering some of the characters and stories in the carvings. The exterior of the Chapel is beautiful in varying shades from brown to orange to pink stone.
FYI: No photos inside the Chapel - and they mean it. However, the brochure has some beautiful detail shots, and you can take all the exterior shots you want. Also, the site is packed with tourists! Our docent said that the first year after the Da Vinci Code was published, they had 17,600 visitors. The next year -- 176.000! We weren't ready! They only had two people on the grounds! Now it's very well managed by a foundation, which is also in charge of funding the restoration, etc.
Do go on this tour if you can. The drive, Kim, our guide, Melrose Abbey, and Rosslyn Chapel are a great way to spend a day in Scotland.
Amazing tour. Our tour guide Bob was exceptionally friendly and accommodating through the entire trip. Would recommend!
This was a blast. The only thing that bothered me was that at Rosslyn Chapel, because one tourist a while ago was inside the Chapel with a tripod mounted camera and had no clue about how to handle it, and therefore spoiled something inside the place, no photos at all are allowed inside Rosslyn, which is rich in detail and a torture for a photographer not been able to capture in pictures.
