It was a wonderful tour...although we wished it was longer! The area to meet for the tour was very convenient from where we were staying.....near the Edinburgh Castle.
This tour was fantastic! We had a great guide named Gary who was very knowledgeable about the area. He taught us a lot about every place we went but in a friendly way that didn't feel like a school lecture. He was open to questions and even played a little local music for us to get the 'flavor' of the area. The scenery was beyond description and must be seen to be believed. Frankly I was surprised that the cost of the tour was so low. I'm sure all the information you need is in the description of the tour, but be aware that the cost of the cruise on Loch Lomond is not included in the tour price, but is WELL worth the added cost. Be sure you take a jacket because it is quite cold out on the loch, and VERY windy. I simply cannot recommend this tour highly enough. I would take it again and again if I am lucky enough to be in the beautiful country of Scotland.
Guide was good, gave a lot of information along the way about Edinburgh
Eric was a wonderful guide with jokes, history and great music along the way. What a top day indeed! Looking back at the photos of the day that we took, they just don't do the trip justice. We had such a great time and saw scenery that will remain in our minds and hearts for the rest of our lives.
My wife and I really enjoyed this tour. Sttratford-on-Avon is a weak point being very touristy, but overall a good day. The time on the bus actually a van is nicely broken up to avoid too much riding time
The tour left with all the passengers a bit early, so we had some extra time. The driver/guide, Hamish sorry if I didn't write it correctly was great, telling us about the countryside, the history and even quoting some Scottish poetry and songs.
The weather was quite good, so it was nice. We made several stops to see the countryside, a lake and some cows, not only at the stops that were planned. It was great to have some flexibility and take our time. There was enough time at the Sterling castle to visit and have lunch, and then I did the cruise about 9 pounds. It's nice as well, even if it's not compulsory.
So, a really nice atmosphere, nice views, great guide.
It's a basic trip in the Scottish countryside.
This tour was especially disappointing since the Viator tour the day before was go good. Our tour guide/bus driver was a pleasant fellow but did not have control of the tour. When we arrived at the bus for Loch Lomond, it was about to rain so we opted to stay on the bus for the short drive to an area where we could walk out to the Loch. Another bus was parked in front of our bus and the driver could not arrange for the other bus to be moved. We sat there for about 45 minutes! By the time we arrived at the other stop, we had about 20 minutes to find the Loch and take pictures. On the return trip, someone asked if we could stop at the Monty Python castle. We spent so much time there that we missed the last guided tour of Sterling Castle - the other highlight of the tour. Very disappointing tour.
