Private Tour: 'Outlander' TV Locations Day Trip from Edinburgh or Glasgow

See Geillis Duncan's home in the village of Culross

Your private Outlander adventure begins with morning pickup from your central Glasgow or Edinburgh hotel. Aboard the coach, meet your expert guide and set off to explore Scotland’s wild Highlands and the filming locations for the popular Starz fantasy series. Along the way, delve into the details of the show, adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s series about a World War II nurse who hops back in time to 1740s Scotland during the Jacobite rising.

Your first stop is the charming village of Falkland nestled in the Lomond Hills. Stroll through the town that served as the setting of 1947 Inverness to see the church that represented Danleigh Parish Church and stop for a photo outside of Campbells Café. Following the guided tour, take some time to independently explore the town – where the young Mary Queen of Scots spent her happiest childhood days! – and grab some lunch (own expense).

After lunch, continue to the medieval Doune Castle – Outlander’s fictional Castle Leoch. Hear about the area's gruesome 18th-century battles that took place during the Jacobite rising, both fictional renditions and real-life warfare. Snap some photos of the castle from the outside or take an optional interior tour (own expense).

Next head to Culross (aka Cranesmuir), where characters Geillis and Arthur Duncan live, and on to Jamie Fraser’s home in Lallybroch. Bonus! Your private tour grants exclusive access to the closed filming location in Lallybroch.

As you travel, enjoy little-known stories about the show’s production. Test yourself with entertaining trivia about clans, warfare, Scottish history and signature Outlander characters!

Your 9-hour tour concludes with an early evening return to your Edinburgh or Glasgow hotel.

This was a great tour. First our tour guide showed up in a kilt with the Fraser clan plaid. He gave us a small tour of Edinburgh and showed us some locations within Edinburgh that are mentioned in the Book/TV show.
We then headed out to the various sights where the Outlander Series is filmed. We saw the town used for Inverness. He gave us a tour of the town and the various locations used for the shooting of the show. We had tea and scones at the boarding house where Alex Randall died and Jack Randall and Mary were married. We meet a few of the residents in town and listen to their stories about the filming of the show.
We also went to see the set for Fort William and a drive by Lallybroch. They were filming the next series at Lallyboch, so we did not have access to that location.
This was an all day event and I enjoyed every minute of the tour. Thanks Gerry.

I cannot say enough about this tour! Gerry and Tony went above and beyond to make the most of our time while we traveled between the key Outlander locations outlined in the tour! They intertwined interesting facts about Outlander, along with pertinent historic facts about Scotland, while we saw the beautiful countryside! I recommend this tour, not only to Outlander fans, but to anyone that wants to get out of the city limits for the day! It was a truly WONDERFUL experience!!

Me and my friends took this tour back in April of this year and to this day we still talk about it. Not because we are obsessed with Outlander or we like Scotland, but because of Gerry. He has been the best all around guide we have had in all our travels. He's more than memorized information or a good driver. He's witty, very friendly and funny and memorable. He makes you fall in love with his country, its history and of course whisky no E!. This tour.. I mean, If you are a true Outlander fan, then Gerry is the man for you! And do not doubt and book this tour ASAP. It is worth every penny. Trust me! There's nothing like the slow drive to Lallybroch with Gerry playing the soundtrack of Outlander in the car. What a dream, a dream come true!

My husband and I took the private Outlander tour with Gerry. We absolutely loved it! While we are casual fans of the TV series, we are also interested in Scottish history. Gerry was very knowledgeable and provided us with so much interesting information. He also had many great inside stories about the show. The sites we visited were fantastic in their own right, but were also particularly interesting given the fact that we had seen them on TV. The little towns and villages we visited were among the cutest places we have ever seen. Right out of a storybook - literally. We will definitely be back to do another tour with Gerry in the future. Our day with him could not have been better

Absolutely amazing tour! Not only did our tour guide have an excellent knowledge of the filming locations and being the scene trivia, he also included tons of Scottish history. He also gave us excellent recommendations for the rest of our trip, ranging from hikes to eateries. It was the best decision we could've made!!!

LOVED this tour with Gerry McMullen. Not only was he full of information, he was also full of fun and friendliness. We got to see all the scenes described on the website, heard stories about them, as well as info about random things we were seeing in the countryside. Plus, his driving was first rate. We were able to relax and see a lot of the Scottish country. Every one of the four of us considers this tour to be the highlight of our 12 day trip.
