We received excellent customer service at every level! Our original booking had been made for the wrong day and we didn't discover this until minutes before the tour was starting. One call to the tour service got us to the correct meetup point, swapped our tour date, and since we were the only booking, resulted in a private tour of the city from our excellent guide William. We had a great time and were treated to the full experience, even though it was just us. A truly wonderful day and we really got an insiders view of this incredible city.
Great tour, guide knew all the stories and gave great insight
Great tour, would highly recommend it. Best to also do at start of your trip so that you can revisit some of the spots that were mentioned on the tour.
Without a doubt one of the best tours I have ever been on - and I usually take a few a month! Great guide and fantastic information
Our tour guide Laura from Mercat Tours was exceptional. She quite simply made this tour the most memorable part of our entire visit to Edinburgh. Her passion for the history of this city, particularly the medieval period, was infectious. She brought humour into play and she balanced facts and figures with fascinating story-telling. And there are plenty of stories to hear about Edinburgh's history. She was also very considerate, sheltering us in the narrow closes, out of the bitter wind to continue her stories. I would thoroughly recommend this tour, and ask for Laura!
Our guide was terrific and well informed. In addition, it was a small group so we were all able to hear what she had to say. Highly recommended!
Its a very informative tour! Our tour guide Martin was a great tour guide and very helpful and knowledgeable. I think the tour is worth the price.
Using a tour guide is the only way to learn the history ! Great Tour !
Wonderful history tour and our guide was so knowledgeable and fun.
Simon was great. The tour was interesting and would definitely recommend it if your in Edinburgh
Sue was the perfect guide, witty and informative. We would definitely recommend this tour as a starting point to learn about Interesting off-beat places to visit in the city.
Cheers to Sue who was a fabulous tour guide. She was obviously a history buff and was very engaging in the way that she told stories. We explored areas mostly around the Royal Mile...an area that is packed with history. The tour ended at the castle where Sue shared some of its history and then we were left to enjoy the castle on our own and at our own pace. Would definitely recommend this tour. I have also hear that the Ghost tours in Edinburgh are excellent and that they shouldn't be missed.
Our guide Charles was funny and entertaining! He really made the history of Edinburgh come to life for us. Highly recommended!
Very knowledgeable, witty, and personable guide provided interesting background and details of Scotland's history. This was the perfect way to start our trip.
We were lucky to have energetic, informative and fun-loving Martin as our guide... he brought the scenes of other eras to life. A must-do tour to orient yourself to Edinburgh's early days, and very insightful look at urban planning in the context of earlier centuries. A fascinating, jam-packed few hours!
Fantastic! We had a great time learning about the history of Edinburgh from our tour guide Martin. Martin made the tour very entertaining with his storytelling ability laced with humor which painted a picture of what life was like in Edinburgh through the ages. This is a must do tour.
Amazing way to see the medevil influence on diverse and large city like Edinburgh. Great way to meet other new-bees on a first visit. Found that many people literally hoped-on and off 3-4 times a day without any hassles.
Very good tour guide. Talked for two straight hours and kept our interest the whole time
Had an excellent walking tour around the Royal Mile. After a few days in Edinburgh, I felt like I had a good idea of the general history of the area so I really enjoyed the the guide told stories that were lesser known and specific rather than a broad history. She pointed out lots of things that I wouldn't have noticed on my own or weren't mentioned in the tour book. Well worth the extra money for skip the line admission to the castle. The day I was there it was incredibly crowded so it was great to be able to walk straight in and have a guide to orient you to the area before the end of the tour.
Alexander gave an amazing, information dense and humoristic performance which gave a very comprehensive overview with a lot of colourful details of a lot of the history of Edinburgh and Scotland! A mental and physical experience - up and down in Edinbirgh - at a very high level which I can recommend as THE introduction to Edinburgh and to Scotland!
