Had a lovely afternoon at Edinburgh Castle with my family. We arrived around 11.30 and had already purchaser a skip the queue ticket although this was not necessary as there were no queues around that time despite it being half term.
We went on the free guided tour which was very informative and a good start to finding your bearings around the castle grounds., The tour guide was interesting and funny and made sure we did not miss the One O'clock Gun. We were at the Chapel around that time but it was quite crowded and we couldn't see. We walked down the hill and stood on the slope where we had an excellent view of the gun.
We had coffee and cakes in the café next to the gun. The cakes were delicious.
The Great Hall and Palace were our favourite buildings. You can see the Crown Jewels in the Palace,
Of course, our grandchildren wanted to see the Prison buildings and were not disappointed.,
We were there about three hours which we thought was enough tine to see everything,
One of the largest Castles I have ever visited, Fabulous,.
We hate lines. HATE lines. It costs very little extra to avoid a lot of mess and wasted time. The Castle is fantastic.
Well worth a visit to the Castle. So much to see and so interesting - make sure you leave plenty of time
Worked exactly as you would expect. Simply walk past the ticket lines into the tourist office, and pick up your entry tickets from the desk. Even on a freezing, rainy morning in December, the lines were incredibly long by 10-11am. Not necessary if you show up at opening.
The skip the Line ticket really saves you time as there was a long lineup to buy tickets the day we went. Take advantage of the free tour that leaves inside the Castle every 1/2 hour. Very informative and entertaining.
Of all the places in the world I've been to, this trip to Edinburgh ranks as one of the best. The city is easy to get around in whether walking or using public transportation. The Scots are a very friendly people and genuinely enjoy their visitors. One of goals while there was to try the haggis. It really is quite good.
An experience not to be missed whilst in Edinburgh. Booking via Viator saved a lot of hassle and not having to queue up. The castle was beautiful, and there is plenty of history. The view of Edinburgh from the castle is superb.
Brilliant! A must see for all ages. Skip the line tickets worth every penny. Brilliant free half hour tour with castle guides worth doing for an overview before exploring on own.
Excellent. Loved the cobbled walk up, the wide expanse of views from the courtyard.
The short tour was excellent. Lots of kids to get involved in looking at. Crown was excellent. Informative, educational and fun. No queues Decemeber/
This was a highlight of our time in Edinburgh! It is easy to get to and provides such great historical context for this amazing city.
I loved Edinburgh. The castle was definitely worth seeing. We had a Scotsman in the great hall giving a talk about Rob Roy and the people of the day. He gave a demonstration of the weapons used and the dress of the men. We really enjoyed this trip. I recommend seeing the castle.
Wasn't expecting what was inside the grounds! Very surprised! Definately need quite a few hours to enjoy xxx
The castle is a MUST SEE! the skip the line ticket is worth it. The ticket line there can be pretty long.
Well worth booking and we joined a free Castle tour immediately on entering which was wonderful.
Give yourself plenty of time to explore this very interesting Castle with fantastic views!
Skip the line ticket is a must at this attraction. Spent hours at this castle.
It was great to have this ticket ahead of time. Didn't need to wait on the line when we got to the castle. This include the guided tour of the castle which is about 35 minutes long. After the guided tour I'd give yourself at least another hour in order to explore the castle on your own. The castle is an amazing sight and I would highly recommend if you are in Edinburgh.

Well worth a few bucks to skip the very long summer line, and the self-guided tour of the Castle was good too!
Picked up my ticket with ease. Not to be missed. Managed to get a whiskey sample in the shop at the top.
