A good tour guide makes all the difference and Brian made it the best!
My wife and I opted for a 3 days Scottish Highlands Trip with Highland Tours in June 2017 and it was perhaps among the best trips, worth every penny spent. We were part of a 20-ish people group led by Brian about whom we had read on viator previously, so were very glad from the word Go! who really was the most amazing guide! So knowledgeable, with an amazing sense of humor, Brian did not make the tour into a history lesson and engaged the group really well into his stories. He made the right stops, was patient with the group taking pictures even offering to take some for the group and made the entire trip enlightening and entertaining! We went to the highlands, spent an entire day at the isle of skye an the whisky tasking with Brian stopping at all the picturesque spots for us to make amazing moments. He also gave his recommendations on what all we musn't miss and helped get discounts at entry points at some tourist attraction, in addition to pointing out the best places to try some good Scottish food. We were also provided accommodation at a really good Bed and Breakfast, Blairdhu House in Kyleakin which could give a good hotel, a run for their money. Very clean, good rooms with nice hosts. The Breakfast served at the B and B was scrumptious. A special mention must be made for Brian's driving skills he promised they were awesome, it really was a fun 3 day drive with your energy and enthusiasm and music I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more. Overall, a great trip by Highland Tours made better thanks to the guide!
Tour was fabulous and David's stories were epic. He took the time to talk to those of us on the bus to figure out what we wanted to see and where we should spend the majority of our time. Really, really great!
Fantastic views! BB was really isolated from restaurants but the one we ate at for two nights was very good.
Fantastic tour conducted by a tour guide that is passionate about Scotland and its history. The tour was a great length of time and would highly recommend it.
This tour was excellent. Our tour guide Moray was informative and entertaining. There was enough time at each site and I was never bored. We stayed in a superior guest house and had an incredible view, a great breakfast and we were right next to one of two surviving black houses on Skye. Great tour!
We just returned from an 11-day visit to London and Scotland. The 3-day Isle of Skye and Highlands Tour was fantastic. Our guide, Jim, has an extensive knowledge of the country and its history and shared it in an interesting and fun way. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to not only see, but to learn about and understand Scotland and its great people.
Brendan was a wonderful ambassador of the Highlands. LOVELY B and B. Highlight of our 2 weeks in the UK - party of 4 adults.
Enjoyed it very much! The views and sceneries were beautiful. Our tour guide was awesome. Would definitely do another tour!
I had a great chance to see the beautiful Scotland with this tour. This trip guided us through scenic places. The B and B was nice too. Listening to the history was a great help. Our guide James was a good story teller and caring person at the same time. He also showed us the new suspension bridge north of Edinburgh just before the returning. I strongly recommend this trip. The trip is from 8am to 7pm for three days. If you do not like this kind of long day trip you should avoid this package trip. But there are so many sights you want to visit, and the time is limited.
Absolutely beautiful. The guide Brian was very helpful and knowledgeable. I and my husband amazed with picturesque view of the highlands. I reccomend you to book superior B and B.
As Brian says west is the best :
Thank you for everything.
just AWESOME. any problem, the accomodation ok, nice food. and the guide was the best.
It was very well organised by Highlands Tour. Highlight is of course the All-In-One Brendan..., The Guide, Philosopher, Friend and Navigator.
Brendan kept everyone amused, excited, lively and in high spirits through rain and whisky tasting sessions. He made a good difference.
The Coach could have been a little more comfortable. A tad too small and very frugal-looking seats!!!
Ewan was a wonderful tour guide/driver! Of course, Scotland is the real star of the tour, but having
someone who loves what he does, and makes history live makes a great tour! Our tour missed a few
sights due to a traffic accident and delay not ours, but Ewan made a point of at least stopping to
allow time for photos. Our Skye tour included an amazing collection of stone huts. Culloden was a high point in a trip
Featuring several memorable sights. Traveling alone? Book a Viator tour!!
Wonderful tour.. comfortable minibus and Aileen was a great driver and guide! She was very informative, interesting and passionate and brought the history to life with appropriate music and stories.. she also knew how to keep the group punctual and organised. The tour was very comprehensive for the short time involved and yet we didn't feel rushed off our feet..
Our only disappointment was not receiving more info about accommodation choices as we would have liked to stay in one of the b and bs or guest houses on Kyleakin with the amazing views.. we stayed in a very pleasant b and b at Kyle Lochalsh but with no view it wouldnt have been our first choice..
Other than that minor detail we enjoyed every part of this tour and highly recommend it!
We had a great time and Paul, our tour guide was awesome! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and funny.
Book an upgraded b and b if you can afford it. We didn't , and it was just barely okay room wise.
This tour was the highlight of our Scotland vacation! After a day or two in Edinburgh, we were a little underwhelmed,...until we went on our tour of the Highlands. Our first lucky break was that we were fortunate enough to get Howard as our tour guide, with a brand new van, AND only 8 of us! Howard is what made this trip for us. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and continually exceeded our expectations in making this tour beyond anything we had imagined. We would travel to Scotland again just to take this tour. We traveled all throughout the Highlands. We hiked A LOT, but got to see and learn so much. We hiked to the top of the breathtaking Neist Point with a 360 degree view that will stop your heart. We hiked through a bit of Glencoe and learned a lot about that area. We got to see the Glenfinnan Viaduct that was featured in the Harry Potter movie along with the steam engine. We went to Loch Ness and saw Urquhart Castle there as a host of over gorgeous castles throughout the highlands including one which was used in Game of Thrones and the gorgeous Eilean Donan castle. We stayed in the quaint harbor town of Portree both nights and left for daily excursions from there. Howard is such an expert that he knew all the best vantage points, and the best legends for everything we saw. The hills, forts, castles, waterfalls, deer, sheep, cliffs, white stone houses, stacked rocks, legends, and intriguing history of the Highlands were ALL things which made this tour our all-time favorite tour that we have taken in Europe. We came back with over 2000 beautiful pictures from this 3-day tour. Don't hesitate, book it - and request Howard if at all possible. He is INCREDIBLE!!
It is one of the best tours we have taken so far. Although, the initially price looked quite high but it was worth every penny. The tour takes you to the breathtaking scenery of Scotland. What enhanced our experience was our driver/guide Brenden, who had very good knowledge of the local places and history. Brenden stopped at very good locations that allowed us to take beautiful pictures of the Highlands. You will get to know from him the origin of terms Graveyard shift, Botched up job along with his good times spent with J.K Rowling.
If you can spend a bit more, choose the Guesthouse option for stay that are in Kyleakin. These are beautiful cottages on the side of Loch Alsh. Our hosts there, in Rainbow B and B, Chris and Jana, were amazing. We had a wonderful room and sumptuous breakfast on both days of our stay. One of the best breakfast, I have ever had, and I have stayed at best 5-star hotels. Amazing people to stay with.
The tour will drop you at your cottage at around 6.30 for you to enjoy the evening. Go to the Hakkon bar and try Scottish beers there. It has amazing quality food and very low prices. Amazing place to spend time with your loved one sipping beer and watching sunset followed by a very delicious meal. Be aware that it closes by 8.30pm so, be sure to reach there on time. There is also a souvenir shop next to this restaurant that has good quality souvenirs at lowest price.
One of the highlights of the tour was the visit to a place that showcased how people in Skye used to live a century ago. Other highlights included a visit to 2,300 year old house, the stones from the series Outlander, The Hermitage etc. Whiskey tasting tour is cheap so do try that. There were lot of Lochs and never ending greenery to cover.
We will remember this tour forever for giving us everlasting beautiful memories and we will definitely be visiting Scotland and Isle again.
Excellent trip. Aileen was very informative and amazing. the hotels were very good, clean and comfortable.
This was a great tour! Itinerary was excellent and the driver, Brenden, was a real gem. I was kind of jet-lagged and grumpy at first, but he handled my whining with great good humor and went out of his way to be friendly and helpful. Of course the regular stops on the Highlands itinerary were spectacular, but Brenden also made some special extra stops--to feed a highland deer, stop at special photo opps, show us feats from the Highland Games, etc. etc. All passengers on the bus were cheered by this outstanding tour guide. I also had excellent communication with the company when I had questions about the tour beforehand. Thanks!
The tour was great, we had a wonderful guide, Paul, and he knows a lot of the history of Scotland. He told us about the sights and took us where we wanted to go besides the original tour.
This tour was fantastic- you get a huge bang for your buck as a ton of stuff is fit in to the three days, while still getting to enjoy it all. Our guide Ronnie could not have been better- a great sense of humor and tons of knowledge. We'd do it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!
