Having bought tickets online through Viator, we were able to skip the queue to the box office, showed the confirmation email and given tickets in exchange. Short queue to get onto the ship. Brilliantly laid out so you get to see all the areas of the ship. Had a nice lunch in the on-board restaurant. My 85 year old mother was with us and she found it great too, with places to sit whilst going round. Well worth the drive from Loch Lomond area. Great value for money.
Excellent attraction to see and explore the simplicity of a famous Royal Yacht. You won't be disappointed with your tour as there are so many exhibits to appreciate.

What a brilliant experience to be able to walk the decks that have been witness to so much history. I would recommend that you buy your tickets online before your visit to save yourself a wait in the long line. It's a self guided tour that has been very well thought out, and flows easily from one room to the next. Set aside a couple of hours so you can take in all of the pictures of the Royal family, which are spread throughout the yacht, and definitely have lunch at the on board restaurant. The food was delicious, as was the glass of bubbles! How often do you get the chance to dine where royalty once did???
This was amazing. The commentary was very well done and the flow of the self tour was steady but not rushed. So pleased we visited the Royal Yacht.
The Britannia tour is fantastic we would recommend it one hundred percent. Having lunch in the tea room is a must : :

One of the best self guided tours you can take. The audio is precise and allows you to get a good prospective on how the royals lived on ship. It also though gives you a great view of the yachties who manned her and how the performed in this different environment. Top it off by afternoon tea in the beautiful cafe.
This tour was perfectly organized, giving visitors a chance to see all parts of the Britannia, just as if the Royal Family would be staying aboard.
Excellent tour a must for visitors to Edinburgh. Staff friendly and helpful. Well worth stopping part way through the tour for sustainance at the Deck cafe - can recommend the cheese scones!
Much better than expected, officers mess and marines living quarters facinating
