Your 10-hour tour of Scotland’s Highlands lochs and castles sets off from central Edinburgh in the morning. After meeting your friendly guide and boarding the coach, sit back for the journey from the city through the Lowlands.

Your first stop is at Stirling Castle, former residence of Scottish royals including Mary, Queen of Scots. Snap photos from outside and learn about the site’s colorful history riddled with battles such as the Battle of Stirling Bridge, led by the legendary William Wallace. Then continue to Doune Castle for another unique photo opportunity.
Aside from its historic importance as a critical medieval stronghold, Doune Castle has enjoyed more modern recognition as the film site for Monty Python and The Holy Grail and the TV series Outlanders, based on the books of Diana Gabaldon. Opt to visit the castle (own expense) or snap photos from outside and take a stroll around the surrounding area.
As your coach continues through dense forests and highland peaks, your expert guide will share fascinating true and fictitious tales about local figures like Rob Roy MacGregor — dubbed the ‘Scottish Robin Hood’ — who is buried in the Braes of Balquhidder.
Stop for lunch (own expense) en route to tranquil Loch Awe and the romantic ruins of Kilchurn Castle. Then continue toward Inveraray Castle on the shores of Lake Fyne, where you’ll have free time for an optional castle tour (own expense; tour runs from April to October only). Learn about battles that occurred in this region and rulers like King Robert the Bruce and Clan Campbell, who possessed the Argyll lands for centuries.
The final leg of you tour takes you through the Arrochar Alps and to Loch Lomond. Enjoy epic views of Scotland's largest lake from the charming town of Luss before returning to the capital.
Your full-day excursion ends near Waverly Bridge in the evening.

This is a long tour in which you visit several beautiful castles and have the opportunity to view various lochs or lakes, which are very common in Scotland. You'll see great views of the Scottish highlands. The trip was comfortable, and our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. If you have several days in Edinburgh, it will be worth it to spend one of those in this tour.

Fabulous tour through the western highlands! We lucked out and it was sunny for the majority of the day. Definitely pay for entrance into the extra castle stops as they are worth it. Ross was an amazing tour guide. Very informative whilst keeping it light and funny. Would highly recommend!

This tour is a must. Gavin was a pleasant and knowledgeable guide as we drove to Doune Castle (uninhabited) and the beautiful Inveraray Castle (inhabited by Duke of Argyll, Clan Campbell) and gardens.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided great insight into the history of each of the lochs and castles we visited. The tour had the right pace which allowed it to be enjoyable and allowed sufficient time to see each attraction. The bus was comfortable for the full day. I highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide was Amy and she was fantastic! She was so knowledgeable and fun to listen to. The intimate feel of the smaller vans added to the experience. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the beautiful sites of Scotlands Castles and hear about her history.

I was a little disappointed in this tour. Our guide/driver for the day was Jan C who was fantastic. Our first stop was Doune Castle - should be explained in advance that these are ruins, really wasn't worth the 4.00 pounds. The photo stop for Kilchurn Castle, it lays across the road and loch so unless you have a wide angel lens on your camera it was not worth getting out of the vehicle. Very pricey was Inverary Castle and Gardens 8.00 pounds and most rooms were blocked off and lastly Stirling Castle - another photo opt from the highway. I would like to suggest to eliminate Doune Castle and Loch Awe, less time at Inverary and allow more time at Stirling Castle. Best thing is that I didn't have to walk a lot that day and the scenery was nice. Take the tour if you desire but for me it was a little bit of a let down.

It was the most beautiful tour, the castles, the lake be sure and pay to see any castles on the tour - it is more than worth the small fee.. Our driver could have communicated better, more clearly, but it was beautiful beyond words.
