What You Can Expect

Day Trip to Estancia Nibepo Aike from El Calafate

Estancia Nibepo Aike

At your chosen departure time, you'll be picked up at your hotel in Calafate, where you'll board a tour vehicle and travel out of town on the Camino de las Estancias. As you travel, watch out the window for wildlife such as hares, foxes, and condors.

Arrive at Estancia Nibepo Aike, one of the few estancias located within the boundaries of the Los Glaciares National Park. At the Quincho, or outdoor kitchen, you'll be welcomed with mate, tea, coffee, and homemade pastries.

Begin your hike through the estancia's mountainous land toward Lago Argentino, during which your guide will provide commentary on the ranch's history. Visit a sheep shearing shelter, where you'll learn about the shepherding tradition, and possibly watch some trained dogs herd the sheep. Upgrade your experience with a horseback ride (additional cost).

Back at the Quincho, sit down for a meal of salad and barbecue lamb, after which you'll return to El Calafate for hotel drop-off.
