Our experience with the beautiful scenery was heightened by our knowledgeable guides. Our guides were not only worried about keeping us safe and us having a good time but also shared very interesting facts about the locations along the way. We will be recommending these tours to all our family and friends!!!
I would recommend this tour to just about anybody who's comfortable getting dirty, climbing rocks, and jumping into rivers. The nature walk was a full-body exercise but it was totally worth it. The rivers and cascades were so beautiful. I truly had a blast. Also, our tour guide, Francisco, was amazing - very knowledgeable, fun, and upbeat.
Kayaking at the bio bay was fun but not as great as the nature walk. You'll have to adjust your expectations for the bio bay - what you'll see looks more like sparkles in the water. Anyway, I was beat by the time we got around to kayaking so keep that in mind!
Thank you for sharing your experience. This is indeed a full day of adventure and physical activity, but at the end of the day you also feel accomplished. The bio bay is very unpredictable, we continue working to adjust the description to be as clear as posible, so everyone knows exactly what to expect.

The climbing portion was the decided favorite in our group. The tour guide was extremely knowledgable and friendly (Thanks Fernando!) and he even gave us recommendations in San Juan. The kayaking was fun, but our night with the bioluminescent algae was a little lacking- turns out that they need rain to be very active, so even though we went on a new moon, the impact of the algae was not very strong. Also, because we were the first group to the bay, we were pressured to return pretty shortly after sun-down. It wasn't truly black until we were back in the channel headed for the launch point. It's possible that we could have seen more algae reaction if we were allowed to stay out longer.
I recommend some strength for this excursion. The hike includes some portions of bouldering/rock face climbing, and your shoes will get wet. They will also get wet kayaking. It's probably a good choice to wear tennis shoes/light sneakers for the entirety of the experience and bring some flip flops to change into at the very end of the night. The kayaking was a work-out, most average people should be able to do it.
Our group of 18 throughly enjoyed our tour. It forced us to really work together and communicate, plus we learned a lot about the Puerto Rican culture. We are excited to visit again to explore other areas because of what we learned. Our guides were knowledgeable and very helpful throughout the tour. Safety was their main priority and it was greatly appreciated. We would definitely book this tour again!
The morning part of this tour exploring El Yunque was phenomenal! It exceeded our expectations. I am so glad we splurged for this tour instead of trying to navigate El Yunque on our own. María destroyed much of the canopy and the trails are still being rebuilt. It’s muddy and fun and exciting; make sure to wear old clothes! We hiked to a secluded area, did a little rock climbing, and got to swim near a waterfall with rope swings and a natural slide. SO FUN! Fernando was helpful, fun, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable. We also had help from Mitchell, the local sherpa. I couldn’t have loved El Yunque more!
After that, we stopped for lunch at the kiosks at Luquillo Beach. It was nice to explore on our own for a bit. We tried lots of delicious cocktails and visited the calm and beautiful beach.
Then came the evening part of our tour. Due to a full tour, we left our morning group and joined a different group for the kayaking portion. I asked our new guide, Christian, when I should change back into my swimsuit for kayaking. He said I wouldn’t need a suit because we would be dry the rest of the night. I was confused but went along with it. When we arrived to the bay, we were one of 5 companies who run these tours. There are SO MANY kayaks in a small space trying to enjoy the same experience. The few minutes when we saw the bioluminescent algae was cool, but the hassle of the whole experience wasn’t worth it for me. It wasn’t relaxing, the tour guides were impatient, and I got soaked (as I thought I would). The biggest problem was the mosquitos. The company (Glass Bottom Kayaks) or tour guide should have reminded us to put on bug spray or wear long sleeves. Kayaking through the mangroves was miserable due to the quantity of mosquito bites. In a 75 minute experience, I received about 50 bites. I am still itchy, even though I’ve been home for a week.
Thank you for your gift of feedback. We are saddened to learn that during the last portion of the tour you had more challenges than fun. I apologize for the confusion with the swimsuit information. We understand the pace of both activities is very different, will take this observation in consideration in order to have our description mention more on what to expect once at the bio bay site.
Rainforest hike was amazing. Bioluminescent stunk!
The rain forest hike/swim was amazing. Our guides were personable, knowledgeable and very helpful/attentive when the hike became strenuous. They obviously knew what they were doing.
The bioluminescent kayak was a big joke! The picture and description of the tour were nothing like the actual event. We had to hide under dirty, smelly tarps and stir the water with our hands to see any type of glow. There was a lot of wasted time with taking pictures and waiting for dark, just to go under a tarp. Would not recommend this tour.
The whole tour was just amazing! Very good and knowledgeable guides, on time pick up, they made sure everyone was taken care of and safe guidance to sometimes a bit more difficult territory (climbing to the waterslides).
And the bio bay... no words to describe it! It was so much more and better than expected! TAKE MOSQUITO REPELLENT!
My sister had done the bio bay in La Parguera already which was nowhere near as amazing as Laguna Grande.
Can't wait to try Vieques.
I would recommend this tour to everyone! Such an amazing experience!!!!!
But keep in mind that it is a bit strenuous.
I had an excellent time on this tour! Fernando was our guide and he was an excellent guide. He helped us navigate, pointed out local species, and helped us with some of the rougher terrain, keeping everybody safe. I had fun sliding down the waterfalls and swinging on a ropeswing and some of the views were really beautiful! The kayaking was fun and they had marine biologists to teach and answer questions about the bioluminescence. Kayaking through the water when it was dark was a sight I will not ever forget!
We are excited to learn you were able to enjoy this day of adventure to the fullest. Our dedicated Tour Guides always strive to create unforgettable experiences and Fernando is no exception. If you are ever back in PR, feel free to contact us to have you join on another great adventure!

This hike is not for anyone with orthopedic issues! The hike was fairly strenuous, and I work out often and hard. The rainforest and waterfalls are worth it- simply gorgeous. The tour guides were amazing and adorable both haha.
