What You Can Expect

Rockhopper Penguins at Cape Bougainville from Stanley

Falkland Islands

You'll be collected from the cruise port in Stanley after your ship docks; please inform the tour company of your arrival date and time after booking.

Climb into a Land Rover 4x4 vehicle for the 2-hour trip to Cape Bougainville, most of it on gravel roads winding through the farmland. Please note: there are no restroom facilities at Cape Bougainville.

Once you arrive, you can expect to see Southern sea lions sleeping on the cliff tops and in the Tussock grass. Keep your cameras poised for sightings of the very small number of Macaroni penguins, who sometimes interbreed with the Rockhoppers.

Stop at a vantage point that makes it easy to see the Rockhoppers hopping up the rock face again and again after tumbling into the sea. Watch the constant activity at the busy rookery and listen to commentary from your guide.

Return to the cruise port for drop-off 6 hours after your departure.
