What You Can Expect

Aperitivo Tour of Florence

Enjoy Tuscan wine

A popular social tradition in Italy, aperitivo comprises snacks and drinks to be enjoyed in a bar before dinner. Milan is believed to have started the tradition in the early 1920s, and other Italian cities quickly caught onto the trend.

Your aperitivo tour will begin at Piazza della Repubblica in central Florence, where you’ll join up with your guide and set off across the Ponte Vecchio to the Oltrarno district. First head into an artisanal gelato parlor to treat your taste buds to a mojito sorbet. While you sample, your guide will fill you in on the aperitivo scene in Florence.

Stroll to a wine bar for a flavorful glass of Chianti Reserve or Brunello di Montalcino, two top-notch Tuscan blends. Your wine will be complemented with local prosciutto, an array of creamy cheeses and wild boar salami. Learn about the characteristics of each wine from your guide as you sip and how they pair with your snacks.

Continue toward the Piazza Pitti, where you’ll enjoy a house cocktail with snacks at another wine bar. The aperitivo dishes tend to vary, but typically include Tuscan favorites such as bruschetta drizzled with garlic and tomatoes. Your tour will conclude at the bar, where you can continue drinking and sampling, if you wish.

We had a fantastic time on the Apertivo Tour!! Linda is a friendly, knowledgeable, and exciting tour guide. It was our anniversary and Linda not only suggested a perfect dinner recommendation she called and made the reservation for us. The conversation flowed naturally as we learned all about apertivos, Florentine food culture, and wine!! I would recommend this event to everyone interested in eating delicious food and meeting wonderful people. I would definitely take this tour a second time when I make it back to Florence!!! Linda is fabulous and the tour is absolutely worth doing, one of my favorite activities of our Italian vacation.

This was a fun tour! Enjoyed the wine and the food at each stop! We started out at Greta Milopulos, which was a small quaint sandwich shop with fantastic wine and local meats and cheeses, next was a liquor store that also had some amazing hors d'oeuvres, and finally stopped at GILO Restaurant and tried some of their personalized specialties! Thoroughly enjoyed the tour! Worth the money!

We took this tour our first night in Florence. We had so much fun with our guide and the others on the tour. We had three stops for drinks and appetizers...each venue was quite different yet all excellent. I highly recommend this tour.

We didn the Aperitivo Tour shortly after ariving for a two week stay in Florence. It is a great way to get your feet wet. I helped in us being able to find our way for the remainder our stay. Quite a bit of walking from refreshment stop to the next, but the hostess guide gave us interesting informaion about the areas we passed through, throughtout the tour. I would recommend this for first time visitors to Florence.

Our guide was terrific - very personable and knowledgeable about wines. We stopped at three different types of venues - the first very casual, the second a wine/food shop with a wine cellar and the third, an elegant bar. It was nice to experience the different types of options available. While we enjoyed all three, we especially liked the second stop where we sampled wonderful appetizers and wines in a private space in the wine cellar. Definitely would do it again.

We absolutely loved the Aperitivo tour. Linda was so knowledgeable and interesting. We did the tour on the first night of our holiday and it gave us information we could use for the rest of the week. I can't recommend this tour highly enough. We went to 3 bars for very different drink and food pairings and loved all three.
