Sandra, Gloria and Chef Carmella were fantastic! The class was well paced and easy to follow. Everything was set up and ready to go. Delicious!!! My favourite part was the singing! Thank you for making my special day even MORE special! Bonus is that now even my husband can make bruschetta at home! The gift that keeps on giving!
We were not sure what to expect from this tour which started with a walking adventure through the markets and attractions in Florence. Our host Sandra who was later joined by Valeria was wonderful fun of information and excitement about Florence and cooking which in turn made the tour very pleasant. We enjoyed our walk and tasted food as we went to different places, even though our feet were dead from several days of walking prior to this. A good tour guide can make even sore feet seem to disappear when they are so full of life and encouraging. We were taken by a comfortable bus to the villa where they have the most wonderful landscaped place with the best kitchen of Chef Carimela. There we spent a glorious afternoon learning how to prepare food and eating it. You must try their wine and buy a bottle to take home as well. We make bruschetta, pizza, pork and roasted potatoes, our own pasta and meat sauce, tiramisu and gelato all from scratch. It was a wonderful day and we fully enjoyed the pace and structure of the event. Walkabout Florence hosted this day and we applaud our hosts and chef!!! We returned to Florence but comfortable bus and await to have our recipes sent to us so we can continue to cook Italian at home.

This tour is absolutely wonderful. We both found the complete experience a highlight of our travels and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone considering a similar activity. Our tour guides took us on an exciting adventure purchasing the raw materials we would use later in the day whilst highlighting interesting landmarks as we walked thru the food stores and Market. Chef Carmello was both brilliant in showing us the Tuscan style of cooking as well as exciting in her delivery.
A truly great event
Since I am a foodie and love to cook, I loved this experience. The farmhouse was in a beautiful setting and a dream kitchen for anyone who loves to cook. The area we ate and made pasta was a dream and very conducive to talking with the group. The one thing I was not happy with was the groups size. I had thought there would be less people and each of us would be able to have hands on with all the dishes. I would be willing to pay a little more for a more private class. I did enjoy myself but would enjoy more a smaller group. I also am sorry it was a holiday so we missed the market. Definitely would do again. Our guides were fun and kept the group engaged. The chef and her staff were wonderful and Carmella was very funny and entertaining as well as a great chef and teacher.
Absolutely one of the best tours I've done. Sandra and Gloria we're both professional and fun, making sure everyone had a wonderful time. The walking tour to the markets and the cooking lessons in the fabulous Tuscan hills with great food will be something I will remember forever.
Thanks for the wonderful tour!!!
My fiance and I were so very impressed with the tour and the entire day. From the minute we walked into Walkabout Tour and met Sandra - we were thinking, this is going to be great! It is clear to see, she loves her profession and is proud to share the legends and historical facts about the city as we moved through the streets to the market and up to the farmhouse. The tour is so well organized. We met Gloria and the other half of our tour participants as we boarded the bus and off we were to see Carmella. What a character and a lovely woman - authentic, spirited and fun! I cannot say enough about the great time we had, the food we made and ate and the drink. There was not one thing I would change about this adventure. Sandra was just top notch! We will have this memory for a long while, and will do this again when we return to Florence. Thank you Sandra, Gloria and Carmella. This is a must do in Florence!
What a fantastic time we had with Walkabout Tours . I booked the class so our 13yr old son could join in and it was the best thing we did in Florence. From the start of the tour with our guide Lavinia Lavi walking through the the streets of Florence buying our food for the Cooking Class and Lavi talking about the history of the place to meeting up with Gloria and the rest of the class and going to the Farmhouse. Chef Carmella and her staff were wonderful. The whole day was fantastic, we would definitely book another tour with Walkabout Tours and would love to go back and do another Cooking Class.

Best day ever! 7 of us ranging from 17 to 68 loved every minute! Our tour guide Lavi was the best! Gorgeous setting and everyone who works there is so nice. Shout out to Marti as well!
This experience was out of this world!!! Started with a great guide, Julien and a walking tour of the market and some local landmarks. After a short bus ride, we arrived at the farmhouse for food preparation. We have lots of fun with the other group and their guide, Valeria. Carmela, the chef that worked with us was wonderful. Can't wait to get the recipes via email so I can cook them at home.
The tour definitely gives you the full bang for your buck! The morning is a 2 hour your across the city where Lavi stopped along the way pointing out different food facts with just a hint of Florence history. The tour ended at the central market where we picked up the meat and final ingredients for our cooking day. Then the short bus ride outside of city center brought us to a beautiful view of Florence. The estate where you spend the day cooking and drinking was beautiful, clean and had amazing views! The cooking lesson was the perfect balance of preparing our own food and not waiting too long for certain steps like the pizza dough to rise, for example. Lavi and molly were fun and energetic and great at translating for Carmella! We loved it all!
Wonderful experience! Our guides, Molly and Gloria, gave a fantastic tour of the city while we shopped for the ingredients for our cooking class. Then, we arrived at the kitchen, and our chef, Carmela, taught us how to cook a wonderful Italian meal. The day was relaxing and mixed with good food, humor, and new friends. A must while in Florence!
So far, this tour has been the highlight of our honeymoon! Wonderful guides Julian and Olivia and our wonderful chef Carmela gave us a memorable experience. The location is what you envision when you think of Tuscany -- very picturesque. The day is about 8 hours long, touring some of Florence, getting groceries, cooking, eating, and relaxing. We were stuffed at the end of the day! Great price for such an awesome and authentic experience!
One of the highlights of my three-week vacation! It was extremely fun and the food was delicious! Being able to make homemade pasta while overlooking the Tuscan countryside was an unforgettable experience.
This was one of our favorite days during our stay in Florence, not only in relation to food but also with regards to the history of Florence itself. The farmhouse kitchen was top of the line and had incredible views of the Tuscan countryside. The pasta and pizza that we cooked were among some of the best we had in Italy and it was great fun learning under chef Carmen. Gloria and Lavi were wonderful tour guides and were extremely charming, personable, and social. We highly recommend spending a day here!
Great family experience. Julian and Carmella were very good hosts. We would highly recommend to anyone.
Carmelita is awesome and so fun! Our tour guide, Olivia, was the greatest. She is very knowledgeable and easy going. It was fun to bring my daughter to Italy and learn first hand how to make homemade pasta, then enjoy a delicious lunch that we made. I totally recommend this tour, you will not be disappointed!
Great experience! Definitely a must if you want to get a taste of Italy! Started with an informative walking tour and then caught a bus to a beautiful Villa where we cooked bruschetta, pasta, pizza, pork, tiramisu and gelato! Thank you to the wonderful Martina and Olivia, you both were fantastic and helpful guides/hosts!!
If I could give this more than a 5 star rating, I would! Whether you love to cook or not, this is an outing you sure don't want to miss. Our guide Olivia was so sweet and full of knowledgable information. I learned so much throughout the day. Be prepared for a long day and believe me, you will have so much to eat, you will not be hungry for dinner. Drinks were plentiful as well! I shared this wonderful day with my son, daughter and a friend. Everyone loved it! Great memories for sure. I don't want to ruin perhaps a surprise, but the farmhouse which is just a short drive from the city is absolutely beautiful. Our Chef Carmela was a beautiful woman with so much personality always laughing and smiling. Besides being an amazing cook, she is not a bad singer and loves to dance as well. The other guide Sandra was amazing too! These women truly love their work and their beautiful country. Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity .... The price for this unique day is so reasonable. Well worth the money. Until we meet again....ciao
My husband and I spent 5 days in Florence and this class was the highlight of our trip. Freddy, our tour guide was informative, hospitable, and funny.
The Farmhouse is gorgeous. The chef is adorable Italian lady. The cooking atmosphere is fun and playful. I highly recommend this tour if you are in Florence.
My daughter and I wanted to learn to cook some traditional Tuscan meals from an authentic Tuscan cook. Carmela was a vibrant and wonderful teacher. Valeria and Julian were fabulous guides! The food we made was delicious. The setting was incredible!!
By far the best tour we did in florence..Everyone needs to do this one..Such good food..Oh if you go in the summer, take bug spray
Did this class with my mom and sister in June 2916 and we all loved it. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Italy! The guides were entertaining and engaging, the food was delicious and they send the recipes to you after the class so you can make them at home. The villa is gorgeous, too! This is an all day class so it may be difficult if you have limited time but I highly recommend it.
Our experience with this tour was great! The walk in the city and the market were relevant to food and Gloria was very knowledgeable. The second part was amazing as well! Lavinia and Gloria make such a great pair and were great hosts. We had lots of great food and wine, and everything was delicious! I would highly recommend this tour!
Thank you Lavinia, Gloria and Isaac! Very warm and friendly people, excellent local knowledge with a good sence of humor. And cooking skill of course. Excellent guides and cook.
Fantastic organization. Everything was planned and ready when it was supposed to.
First class facility for the cooking class on the hills overlooking Florence.
The bruschetta was heavenly. Striking, in a good way, was the difference in what the pizza tasted like compared to all other pizzas we have eaten through out the years. Nothing comes even close to the deliciousness of this one.
Homemade pasta, roasted pork and desserts. The perfect end to a fantastic day.
We had a wonderful time.
