Staff very helpful and knowledgeable.
Beautiful atmosphere and lots of food and drink for the whole day.
Highly recommend this tour. It was the second one we took with the Walk About Tour company and it was beyond my expectations. We started with our lovely guide Valeria who took us for a walking tour of Florence while we shopped for the groceries we needed for cooking. Valeria was incredibly knowledgeable and at the same time treated you like family. We went to the farmhouse in Tuscany which was incredible! The scenery was breathtaking. Carmela, the chef, was fun and passionate about cooking and teaching us to make each dish. Loved hearing her sing and watching her dance as she demonstrated the dishes to us. We made all aspects of the meal together including bruschetta, pork, homemade pasta with ragu, pizza and of course tiramisu and gelato. At the end we got to sit on the covered patio overlooking the countryside to enjoy our meal as a family. What an incredible day! If you are wondering whether you should do this tour, don't...just book it as fast as you can.
We had such a great day, being taken for a walk around Florence then going off to class. The company was great as was the food. Lovely way to spend a day in beautiful Florence :
This was a great tour. Lots of fun and plenty to eat and drink. Freddy and Valeria were great guides. You won't be disappointed!
Elisa and Carmella were amazing! Highlight of our time in Florence!
Julian, Molly and Chef Isak with Walkabout Florence were amazing! This was one of my favorite days in Florence. The tour around Florence was informative and going to the different markets to buy our ingredients was great fun for this foodie. The views from the house in Tuscany were spectacular! As a culinary graduate and owner of a catering company, I thought the instruction and recipes were top notch. It was such a fun day and I met lots of new friends. If I had one negative comment, it would be that there is no pre-warning in the description of the tour about how much walking is involved both during the walk around Florence and to the house in Tuscany. All in all, I would do this class again. foodieheaven
Although there was no Local market tour the tour was magnificent. Molly, our guide, was very informative and her interaction with the non- English speaking cooking instructor Carmella was excellent - one of our best days of our holiday.
Very hands on and great food.
Gloria and Lavi were wonderful guides and Carmella was a great teacher. We started with a walking tour of Florence and the market which was both fun and interesting. The cooking class at the farmhouse in Tuscany was incredible fun and the food was delicious. Don't bother making dinner reservations for later, you will be stuffed.
We had a great day with this cooking class tour! While we had fun, we learned to make a big italian meal that I was able to replicate once at home for my guests... this is a wonderful souvenir from this day and from Italy! Thank you Julian and Walkaboutflorence.
Absolutely wonderful day. Our two guides, Sandra and Valeria, met us in the city and took us on a walking food tour, picking up bread, meat, cheese, along the way. Then off to the outskirts of Florence, where we were greeted by Chef Carmella. We began with making bruschetta, then learned to make ragout, tagliatelle, roast pork, and two desserts. While these were all cooking or chilling, we went out to the pizza ovens and made our own pizzas. Carmella is a wonderful teacher, and Sandra and Valeria were very helpful. The food was wonderful, as was the wine, and we returned to Florence vowing never to eat store bought pasta again.
One area of improvement. The aprons we were given are not washable. We did not know that, and washed ours. The green logos were pretty much taken off in the wash. I would strongly recommend regular cloth aprons. We are gutted about ours.
Great time! The guide was great, the chef was a riot of fun, and the food was delicious. Would absolutely recommend.
Well organised, great guides and a great bunch of people, all in a great location! Welcome break from the walking around Florence. Have already tried the recipes sent on by Walkabout!
Absolutely wonderful tour, had the most amazing time. Thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend this for anyone visiting Florence. So much fun!
A wonderful experience with both Martina and Olivia from walkabout tours who provided a truly wonderful experience. One note this tour started at 10am and we returned around 6:30pm after a great meal with our fellow travellers. You won't need to have dinner after this tour.Well done Martina and Olivia and all the crew at farmhouse, especially Isaac the chef at the farmhouse.
Very enjoyable tour. Fun time shopping in marketplace as well as learning how to make some Tuscan classics. Delicious meal to top it all off. Highly recommend this tour.
Our experience at the Tuscan Farmhouse cooking class was spectacular! Staff were welcoming, engaging and enthusiastic! This excursion was for my daughter to expose her to the art of cooking authentically in a beautiful space. I can honestly say this experience exceeded all of our expectations!!
Great experience! We want to come back next year and try other activities these guys offer. Overall money well spend and highly recommended!
I wish I could give this class 10 stars! Amazing! I did multiple activities during 3 weeks in Italy and this topped the list for sure. Explored Florence with our super friendly guide Sandra, gathered fresh ingredients, learned to cook from the awesome Carmela, and then ate our delicious creations!
What a FABULOUS experience! Valeria, Sandra and Carmela are INCREDIBLE, so attentive and eager to make your experience special. Loved the brief tour of gourmet Florence on our way to buy ingredients. Super fun and delightful cooking class. My husband and I laughed, cooked and made friends. PERFETTO!
One of our favorite activities during our Italy vacation. So glad we did this and Sandra was great! Cost was a good value given the amount of time and food that we consumed. We feared that there was too much group vs individual food preparation, but it ended up being ok. Well worth doing!
My family of four mom, dad, two teens booked this tour last minute, and we're so glad we did. We had a great day, it was one of the highlights of our European trip. We loved that it was a small group, our guide Olivia was knowledgeable and fun, and we learned a lot on our walking tour through the markets to buy ingredients. Then a short bus ride to the estate just outside the city. It was a gorgeous spot, with beautiful views. Carmella, our chef/teacher, was engaging and energetic, and the cooking was so much fun, my teens loved that you could participate as much or as little as you wanted, so they got involved in the bits that interested them, and hung back at other times. The food was great, the experience was fun, it was a great day all around. We would highly recommend this class to others.
One of the most memorable and fun days we've ever experienced! My husband, daughter and I had an amazing time during this experience. From the short ride to the farmhouse including a mini tour of famed sites along the way to the cooking and the eating!, we had a blast. Our tour guide, Julian, was superb. He is extremely personable, knowledgeable and fun. The chef, Carmella, was just lovely and managed to communicate highly effectively without speaking any English. The food was fantastic. We were stuffed by the time we left. There was also plenty of water and wine throughout the day, as well as beer during the pizza lesson. We loved every moment and would not hesitate to do it again. Thanks, Walkabout Florence!
Fabulous full day, more than a cooking class. The guides Julian and Molly and Chef Isaac made the day fun and relaxed. The cooking was amazing but the eating was so much better, so much great fresh produce purchased on a market tour early in the day. Great value for money
What a day! Started off with a walk through some of the more significant historical areas of the city centre with detailed explanation from Julian en route to a variety of shops where the vegetables, meat, cheese and everything else we required for our day was purchased. We jumped on to a small bus and were soon out of Florence into the countryside 10 minutes or so. What a fabulous farmhouse/kitchen we were presented with panoramic views and spacious preparation, cooking and dining areas. We prepared, cooked and ate bruschetta, pasta, ragout, pizza, roast pork and potatoes, tiramisu and gelato and it tasted fabulous if I don't say so myself. To refresh us while we prepared and ate, Chianti Classico and Perroni filled our glasses. We had Isaac our chef to guide us, Julian and Molly our guides to assist us, two pizza chefs to show us how to prepare and cook real pizza and great support staff who presented us with an immaculately clean kitchen at the start and throughout the day. Everyone participated, ate and laughed through the day. An excellent day that will long be remembered. Thank you Walkabout Florence tours. Aussie Aussie Aussie. Oi Oi Oi.
