Three months later and here I am still reminiscing about my Florence trip. This cooking class put together by Viator/Walkabout Florence hands down was the biggest highlight of the trip. It is the only tour my friend and I decided on since we were on a budget and are the kind of travelers that liked to just walk around and spontaneously find things to do and places to check out on our own. It had been my dream for years to go to Italy. I feel like I was on a whole 'nother level to have done a cooking class up in the hills overlooking the city. And the cost-- my goodness---100 for a five-course meal! We learned how to make arista roast pork, tagliatelle pasta in ragu meat sauce, pizza neapolitana, bruschetta, gelato, and tiramisu!!! I MEAN, WHAT IS THAT!?! What a deal. Plus we got to keep the apron and received a signed certificate as fun souvenirs. I highly recommend taking this class. I chose it for my friend and I after reading all the reviews. I thought this could be too good to be true, but let me tell you-- all the five-star reviews are real. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. It felt like being with a big group of friends even though we all had just met each other and something about cooking and eating food together just makes it feel like family. In fact, our group had so much fun that we dubbed our meal, Strangersgiving. What an amazing experience. Thank you to Olivia our guide for being knowledgeable, patient with our questions, and friendly. She took us around Central Florence to for a mini history lesson and shop REAL INGREDIENTS for our meal. Thanks to our chefs also for making the whole day fun! I can't believe how much I learned. I recently just made the tagliatelle and ragu at home. Thank you for an unforgettable and amazing experience in Florence! Much love from Vancouver, Washington State. 3

Martina and Chef Isaac made this such a great experience for all of us! We began the day bright and early with a walk through Florence streets - it was so cold but totally worth it as Martina let us in on all sorts of interesting facts and secrets about the city's food habits and history. The cooking class itself took place in a beautiful home a little way out in the countryside. We spent the entire day cooking up an absolute feast, accompanied by generous helpings of wine. Even those who had no cooking experience had a wonderful time. We wound up the day with a lovely sit-down meal, where we enjoyed the fruits of our labour and the fab views of the Tuscan hills. This is simply a must-do experience for anyone who loves food and stories!

This was one of the highlights of our time in Florence. Lavi, our tour guide, was great! She was very personable and so much fun. Carmella and the Chef were awesome at the Farmhouse and the food was exceptional. I highly recommend this tour. This is a full day so don't expect to be hungry in the evening!

My husband and I booked this experience for my 30th birthday, and it was even better than I imagined! Our tour guide, Gloria, was excellent, and Chef Isaac and Carmella made the cooking portion of the day so fun and entertaining. My husband and I left with our hearts and bellies full, and I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a one of a kind Tuscan experience! You can read a full recap of our experience on my blog.

One of our favorite things we did in Florence. Our tour guide Francesco had a great sense of humor and led us through a short culinary tour in Florence. We then had a short bus ride to the farm house, which had amazing views of the city. Chefs were great, food was amazing. Pizza was tops!!

Can and #39;t rate this highly enough. Our guide, Valeria, was lovely. We really enjoyed the trip to the market, especially all the tasters on the way! The venue is stunning, real postcard stuff, and our welcome from Carmella was warm and genuine. Food cooked is amazing!! It really was the best trip ever!

This experience exceeded my expectations! We only had two days in Florence, so we were unsure whether an all day tour was best, however this was the highlight of our Europe trip and got to see some of the city as well as the beautiful country side. Sandra, the tour guide was enthusiastic, extremely knowledgable and made everyone feel so comfortable. The food we made was devine and in abundance with the wine flowing. I would not hesitate in recommending this experience to anyone. Plenty of laughs!

Out of everything that did in Italy this was by far the BEST thing we spent Money on!!! Carmella and Isaac were so great to work with as our chefs! And our tour guide Elisa was so informative and a joy to be around all day! Along with all the great activities we did we also got to meet some great new friends/couples that were apart of the tour! This is a MUST DO!!!! Well worth the money plus some!

This was our favorite tour EVER!! So fun. There were 16 of us, most were around 30 years old, and couples. The walking food history tour in Florence was interesting, the time in the huge Florence Market was fantastic. The home was located up above the Michelangelo View Point above the city, very pretty. The kitchen was huge. Very hands on. Pasta and Pizza making were our highlights. We had dinner reservations, but by the end of eating about 5:30pm, we ended up cancelling our dinner reservations as we could not eat anymore that night.

One of the most AMAZING experiences we had on this trip. I highly recommend Walkabout Florence for any tours. The guide Maritna was great, and our two chefs, Issac and Carmela were so friendly. The walking tour to the markets was such a cool experience, it has inspired me to cook with more natural ingredients. We really had a great time and learned so much. I cannot stress enough how much fun we had on this tour. If you have the time, please, please do this tour.

My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to Italy. My wife wanted to do a cooking class while we were in Florence. Luckily a co-worker of mine had been to Florence in May and had done this same class and highly recommended it. We LOVED it! We stayed at the Hotel Spadai in Florence which is close to the Duomo and easy walking distance to Walkabout Tours which is where this class originates from. We met Freddie our host along with our fellow classmates sisters from Hong Kong, a girl from the Philippines, a couple from Houston and a couple from Denver at their office. Freddie then led us on a walking tour through Florence where we picked up bread and vegetables on our way to the Central Market where we got our cheeses and meats. We then loaded up into a couple of taxis and headed out to where the class was to take place.

The setting is absolutely magnificent. It's a beautiful overlook of valleys and hills and vistas. As you walk up, there is a stand alone wood burning oven which leads you to a wonderfully constructed stand alone kitchen / prep area. It is modern and rustic at the same time. And as we cook, there is a separate dining area that is all windows and the view is spectacular.

The class was so much fun. I am NOT a cook, so I was there to eat. My wife loves to cook, but isn't a Julia Child's protégé. We were there to have fun. And we had a bunch of it. We learned to make Ragu, pasta, pizza, tiramisu, gelato, etc. Chef Isaac was there along with our Italian chef hostess and they were all amazing. Freddie did a great job of hosting us and making us feel comfortable, engaged and informed. The food was spectacular and the company was great. We all got along and laughed and cooked...

It is a full day and we were stuffed and exhausted when we finally got back to Florence. I wouldn't change a thing and I would definitely do it again. Definitely 5 stars and I highly recommend it!
