What You Can Expect

Florence Cheese and Wine Tasting

Enjoy a relaxed wine and cheese tasting at a traditional enoteca

Your tour will begin at an enoteca in Florence’s San Lorenzo district. This historic wine bar first opened in 1895 and has stayed in the hands of family since.

Join up with the owner and award-winning sommelier, Livio, and settle into your seat. As you begin to taste the selection of four Tuscan wines and a delicious spread of local produce, Livio will provide insightful background on the history of the enoteca and the distinct characteristics of each wine, including how they are made, which vineyards they come from and the delicacies that pair best with your glass.

Though menus vary with the season, expect to try fresh fruit, local cheeses, cold cuts, high-quality olive oils and pourings of the Super Tuscan Noir and Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG red. (A sample menu is provided in the Itinerary.)

As you sip and sample, feel free to ask Livio questions or simply relax and take in the scene around you. After an hour of tasting, your tour will conclude.

Itinerary

Sample Tasting Menu:
  • 1 glass of Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG red accompanied by selected cheeses and fruit
  • 1 glass of Brunello di Montalcino Tiezzi red accompanied by pecorino cheese and fruit
  • 1 glass of Super Tuscan Noir red accompanied by goat’s cheese and fruit
  • Samples of Tuscan olive oil, including Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo varieties

This was my second wine tour with Stefano. He is wonderful and has a wealth of knowledge about the wine and the area. The meal was excellent and we had a perfect evening.

Fantastic little place! Highly recommend the hour wine and cheese tasting to anyone visiting! The host really knew his wine, cheeses and olive oils. I actually now have an idea what I am looking for when tasting a wine at a restaurant instead of pretending I am a conneseur! Molto Benne

The staff is incredibly knowledgable and we learned so much about wine and wine pairing. I would definitely recomend this tasting. It was so much fun to sit at the table with other travelers and get to know them throughout the tasting.

Very knowledgable and friendly host with a great selection of wines. Hosted in an atmospheric and historical bar. We wanted to go to a winery but sadly didn't have time for it on our trip - this was an excellent substitute!

A vast array of amazing wines not found elsewhere. Your host, Livio, is very modest. He does not tell you that he is one of the top sommeliers for the last 2 years. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a wide variety of tasty products specifically designed to accompany the wine selections. He also has a great IPA that we bought to try back at the hotel. It lasts one hour so it is a great crash course in wine conducted by an accomplished gentleman. Fantastic !

This event was very pleasant. Our group was tiny only four, and the proprietor couldn't have been more informative and pleasant. The comparative tastings of olive oil were the most informative, but the cheeses, wines, and their accompaniments were tastier no surprise. We got generous portions too.
