My spouse and I were thrilled with this tour for the time and value! An agent picked us up from our Florence hotel and brought us to the bus location where we met up with about 30 other My Tours travelers. Our guide spoke English, French, and Italian for our group. Friendly note: make sure to select your preferred language when you purchase this tour, since the company has tour guides in many common languages!
The coach bus was air conditioned and had enough room for all 30 of us, including a couple of well-behaved kids. There was space to store luggage/strollers underneath the bus. Wifi was supposed to be available, but we didn't try to connect any devices. During the scenic drive, our guide narrated some history of each location before arrival. There is a lot of walking on this tour, often with inclines, but nothing too strenuous for the average traveler. Our slower companions were able to keep up with a few breaks to catch their breaths.
The first stop was San Gimignano, which is beautiful, and on a clear day, we got great photos. We had about 1.5 hours there to explore. Then we headed to lunch with another My Tours group at a Chianti winery, which included a wine tasting and a brief history of the Chianti region. Wine was available for purchase. Lunch for our combined group of about 60 was fine, nothing special but filling enough until the next stop. A vegetarian option was available.
After the winery, we went to Siena and our combined groups had a 20-minute walking tour with guides who spoke our travelers' home languages English, French, Italian, and Spanish. Our English guide, Claudia, was informative, funny, and pleasant! She gave a great local look at the town. Then we were given about an hour to walk around on our own and explore the town. Then we met with our group and walked to a bakery/gift shop where we sampled traditional Siennese sweets and could purchase food gift items.
Our last stop was the quaint medieval fort town of Monteriggioni. By this time, the sun had started to set, so we only spent about 30 minutes here and the fort area is very small so this was perfect. The drive back to the Firenze SMN train station took about one hour and our driver did a good job. We were extremely happy with this tour and would highly recommend it for anyone who would like to get away from Florence, get a good overview of the Tuscany region, and let someone else do the planning!
Great tour guide who made it for us. Very informative but respected our own explore time, great balance of guided tour and own time. Day well planned so you are never in the coach long. Great value for money. I did this tour 7 years ago and it is better than I remember. The only thing we think that could be done to improve is smaller groups but the group size was managed well.
Great tour to get an overview of the Tuscany area. Great to have some time in each town to explore yourself and the tour guide in Sienna gave a great overview of the town.
Great day. All the cities were amazing. Tour guides were incredible. So knowledgable. Wine tasting and lunch was delicious. Great way to see so much in Tuscany.
The scenery was beautiful. San Gimignano was so picturesque. Lovely shops and just the right small size to see in a short visit. Then on to lunch and wine tasting. The wine and food, delicious. However they packed in two tour groups and were not efficient in making sure everyone had what they needed, for example, my daughter wanted cheese for her delicious pasta but they gave it all to the first people to be served. Some very pushy tourists!. We went on the tour with mytours. They were wonderful, even as unforeseen problems came up, bus broke down at the vineyard and one couple very rudely put their seats back on our laps and would not move them repeatedly every time we were on the bus, after several arguments, the tour guides moved us to the other bus which was great! our two tour guides handled everything adeptly and helpfully. Eduardo and Kiara were their names and they did a fantastic job! Sienna is exquisite. By the time we got to Monteriggionis impressive fortress we were exhausted and hot. It was nice there too, very short visit to see the fortress and then back on the bus, luckily that's when they moved us and the next bus was well air conditioned and spacious! All and all the tour was great and worth the money to see so much in one day. Also they picked us up at the apartment, found us, and delivered us to the meeting point for the bus. So you don't have to stay in a hotel to get picked up in the am. Also as you leave Florence the tour guide tells you much about History and areas on the way.
A wonderful full day trip through a great part of Italy. Very enjoyful.
This was amazing tour we could not have seen so much of Tuscany on our own in one day. The bus was very comfortable we were lucky enough to be sitting in the front upstairs which allowed us to take wonderful photos on that cloudy day. If you only have one day, do this tour.
Had an hour and half at San Gimignano then had wine tasting, I don't drink much but the wine was very nice!! Had lunch there then stopped at Rio Maggiore and on to Siena. Plenty of time to explore the towns not rushed so that was nice.
Great tour, wonderful places we visited, could not do it on our own.
Great tour, well organized, the wine tasting and lunch were included and were good. Enough time in every city, recommended for sure!
This tour was great. It was very good coverage of all the sights. Bus ride was very comfortable. The guide was very informative
I usually like to travel independently but as I had a very short window of time to see Tuscany I was persuaded to take a tour. It was a great first glance at the region, with enough time to see each place. The lunch and wine tasting was very crowded but definitely worth the money. Very pleasantly surprised by the hole experience, particularly for the price. I was even provided with transport directly from my accommodation to the coach despite not staying in a hotel.
Great trip. Sarah the guide was great. Beautiful scenery. Buses were very comfortable. Highly recommend this trip.
Just perfect. We saw a lot and had time enough to enjoy all that.Gustave was excellent as guide. The winery we have visited was one of the better I visited so far.I higly recommend this tour
Definitely a full day. The country side is beautiful. The lunch at the winery was delicious. A lot of bang for the buck. The tour guide spoke 5 languages, which is amazing in itself but meant for a lot of repetition for her. And I wish we had spent a little less time at San Gimignano just so we weren't as rushed at some of the other destinations.
Only two small issues with this tour - we had to wait 40 mins for late arrivals and our guide for the day's English was not brilliant. Having said that the trip to the old medieval town and the wine tasting was great excellent lunch too, and the trip to Sienna was a gem - the city centre walking tour was good, but we didn't have enough time afterwards - cut short due to our late start. The last visit to the old fortress wasn't really worth it as a result of our late start in the day - would have preferred to have spent more time in Sienna. The chance to see the Tuscan countryside from a very comfortable coach was a real treat too. Finally be aware that there is a lot of walking to do as the coach had to park well out of town centres - we were fine, but anyone with mobility restrictions need to be aware. Well worth the money all in all.
Our tour started with the bus breaking down on the way to San Gimignano which was not ideal but unforseeable! However our tour leader did an excellent job arranging replacement buses and trying to keep up good humour while we were waiting. Our group also made the most of the situation by getting to know each other. In the end we still managed to fit in our full trip to San Gimignano and Siena despite the delay and arrived back about 45 minutes later than planned. Many thanks to our guide on the day Oct 19 who did such a great job. The scenery, wine tasting and lunch were wonderful too.
San Gimignano is a gem!! Recommend less time in Siena for more time at the final stop.
This was an excellent value. I found it a little confusing as I located the tour leaders and bus for the tour as there were several tours leaving at the same time but it worked out. It made it so easy to see four different locations, including the stop for lunch and wine tasting in the Chianti countryside. I enjoyed the lunch. Of course with stopping at four different places, the time for visiting Siena and San Gimignano was limited so thinking in advance about how you want to use your time is a good idea.
Nice day out of Florence. Our love n
Y complaint, if we really had one, was too few wines to taste at the vineyard. But, the meal there was very good.
A very good tour to get a nice view of Tuscany .
I would have prefer to stay longer in Siena and San Gimignano, cities so charming
and skip the stop at Monteriggioni fortress.
A very well organized tour which we thoroughly enjoyed, thank you.
