What You Can Expect

Independent Venice Day Trip from Florence by High-Speed Train

Admire the enchanting canals of Venice!

Meet your host in the morning at Santa Maria Novella Station in central Florence. Receive your round-trip train ticket, vaporetto ticket and information about train times, and then take off on your own to catch your high-speed train.

After roughly two hours, arrive in the heart of the UNESCO-listed city of Venice. Hop off and hit the streets to explore, enjoying the leisurely pace of your own sightseeing plans. To get around the city, use your Vessel ticket on the city’s vaporetto transport system, valid for 12 hours and covering most areas in central Venice.

Marvel at major landmarks including St Mark’s Basilica, Rialto Bridge and the Venetian Gothic style of Doge’s Palace. After strolling through St Mark’s Square, perhaps relax with an espresso or lunch at one of the many cafés and restaurants in the city center. To check out Italian art, consider visiting the Peggy Guggenheim Collection or the Ca' Rezzonico Museum of Eighteenth Century Art. Entrance fees to attractions and any meals are at your own expense.

After a day of independent sightseeing, make your own way to Venice’s Santa Lucia Station to return to Florence by high-speed train.

Our guide met us at the designated location and gave us an overview of the days schedule. She was informative and very helpful. It was a wonderful day. The only thing I'd change is staying in Venice longer! GORGEOUS city. Do not miss.

Viator was very helpful in organising our one day trip, and explaining how to get to the vaporetto once in Venice.

It was great because we literally had 1 day to visit Venice, and instead of trying to plan and figure things out on our own, everything was planned for us, and the tickets were purchased and we had no issues at all!

Definitely the way to see Venice. Flawless. Was met at Florence SMN Station by tour person who provided me with Train tickets for both directions, Water Bus ticket for 24 hours and directions and stops along the Canal bus route. Wish I had a couple days in Venice.

we enjoyed the trip up and back on the Grand Canal. /St marks Sq was a madhouse but we went up to the mezzanine and that was fun. Our best time though was when we returned to the train station with an hour to spare and spent it walking over the bridges and into the neighborhoods.

This was a great option for an independent tour if you are trying to pack multiple trips into a limited amount of time. The only negative of this trip was the torrential rain storm we experienced while there. The city is beautiful and well worth the trip.
