My friends and I were so excited to take part in a cooking class in Florence. We read many reviews on viator that sounded like this was a reliable way to experience cooking and learn new tips and tricks. Unfortunately, we left our class extremely disappointed. First of all, the chef was not very organized when taking us to the market. He had to leave us in order to go get cash. Also, we payed 150 Canadian each, thinking that we would have a certified chef teaching us. That was not at all the case! He was not at all a certified chef and he himself had never even taken cooking school. He didn't give us any new tips and couldn't even answer questions that we had about Italian food. The ingredients we bought at the market were very basic...for example, we mixed ricotta cheese and pre-packaged chocolate powder and that was considered a dessert. For 150 a person 600 altogether, we were shocked that we bought ingredients that cost around a total of 20 euros. Unfortunately, we would have to strongly advise friends traveling to Florence to avoid this class and it makes us very skeptical of classes provided by Viator. This class would not even be a challenge for young children who wanted to learn how to cook. Very disappointing.
The woman who taught us wasn't a Chef. I wasn't happy that you falsely advertised that we would be taking a cooking class with a chef. It was an extremely expensive thing to do and we were looking for an authentic experience.
