What You Can Expect

Renaissance Florence Walking Tour

Admire Florence's Renaissance architecture and monuments on a walking tour

Your 2.5-hour walking tour will begin in central Florence, where you’ll join up with your guide to explore some of world’s greatest architectural and artistic masterpieces. Your guide will discuss in detail how Florence became the ‘cradle of the Renaissance’ as you walk. Learn about the patronage of the Medici family, Leonardo da Vinci’s plans for the city and scandalous events in Florentine history.

Travel first through Piazza della Signoria, a popular hub of activity that hosts the Palazzo Vecchio, an open-air sculpture display and shops and cafes. Continue to the site of the Baptistery, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the iconic Duomo, featuring Brunelleschi's Dome.

Afterward, pause for a tasting of a regional delicacy at a local eatery, before heading to the churches of Orsanmichele and St Trinita. Follow your guide to the Arno River for views of the Ponte Vecchio.

Cross the river into the charming Oltrarno district. Explore the streets and squares stirring with markets and craft shops and then return to your original departure point, where your tour will conclude.

You will also receive an interesting Florence City GuideBook, to give you fresh suggestions and make your stay in Florence and Tuscany even more memorable.

A really good tour to start our stay in Florence, our guide Valeria was knowledgeable and engaging giving a great overview of the history and interesting detail that you would not find in a guide book.

It was the perfect tour! We only had a few hours but we’re able to see and hear about a lot of the city. Valentina was excellent and knowledgeable! She had great food recommendations and was a pleasure to be around. Would recommend to someone wanting an overview of the city in just a few hours.

Great orientation to Florence, with interesting and insightful history and stories of Florence, along with tips from our guide Mariko? about places to eat and shop. She was very engaging, and the tour gave us great bearings to get around Florence on our own the following days.

This tour was a perfect way to start off my stay in Florence!. I learned where everything was and allowed me to plan the rest of my stay accordingly. The guide Federica was very knowledgeable and a great host during the walking tour. I love it so much I booked an afternoon tour of the Uffizi with the same company.

we did this tour in October and really enjoyed it. The group was around 17 of us but we were all given ear buds and receivers so we could clearly hear our guide. We walked quite a bit but certainly manageable to any able bodied person. Not a good tour for those who have difficulties walking.

I loved how our guide was informative and helpful and open to questions. Her recommendations of places to visit, eat and tour on our own afterwards was also a treat.

The gelato stop was a nice treat but long lines.

This was my first Viator experience and won't be my last.

Loved learning about the history of Florence, and our tour guide knew an awful lot about it. I'll be looking for Viator tours the next time I'm travelling abroad.
