Renaissance Florence Walking Tour

Admire Florence's Renaissance architecture and monuments on a walking tour

Your 2.5-hour walking tour will begin in central Florence, where you’ll join up with your guide to explore some of world’s greatest architectural and artistic masterpieces. Your guide will discuss in detail how Florence became the ‘cradle of the Renaissance’ as you walk. Learn about the patronage of the Medici family, Leonardo da Vinci’s plans for the city and scandalous events in Florentine history.

Travel first through Piazza della Signoria, a popular hub of activity that hosts the Palazzo Vecchio, an open-air sculpture display and shops and cafes. Continue to the site of the Baptistery, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the iconic Duomo, featuring Brunelleschi's Dome.
Afterward, pause for a tasting of a regional delicacy at a local eatery, before heading to the churches of Orsanmichele and St Trinita. Follow your guide to the Arno River for views of the Ponte Vecchio.

Cross the river into the charming Oltrarno district. Explore the streets and squares stirring with markets and craft shops and then return to your original departure point, where your tour will conclude.

Valentino did a great job navigating the group through Florence. She gave us a lot of details on the city. It also doesn and #39;t hurt that she took us to a great Gelato place half way through. I recommend this tour and the lemon cream flavor gelato.

We ended up being small group of 5. Guided by Valentina who was brilliant and really gave an insight into wonderful Florence. We stopped for a quick gelato break near the Pitti Palace. Would definately recommend. As I did this tour the morning after arriving it helps you orientate self and plan the rest if your stay. Do book any tickets to the Ufizi gallery and accademia museum well in advance. It's pretty difficult to just turn up and expect hours of waiting to get in if you take the chance.
