Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Self-Drive Vintage Fiat 500 Tour from Florence: Tuscan Wine Experience. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
We really enjoyed this tour.
First, it's a fairly short drive in the Tuscan countryside in a pretty quirky little car. I drive a stick, but the early 70s Fiats they have here don't have a synchro-mesh system so you have to double-clutch. It was fun learning how to do that and the drive was just the right length where you really got to experience the car before it became annoying to drive. Because honestly they're fairly uncomfortable and difficult to operate. But I really liked the experience with it provided on this tour.
After the drive you get back to the winery and have nice, light Italian lunch of cold-cuts, honey and cheeses, bread and some pate. Along with this you also get to taste a few different very tasty wines that are made at the winery there. And here is where the tour really shined, largely due to the tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about Italian food and wine and very personable as well. We really enjoyed hearing what he had to say and discussing it with him.
All in all it takes about a half-day and was one of the nicest things we did during our stay in Florence. Highly recommended!
What a wonderful day!, The roads through vine yards and stunning views are amazing. Beppe made everyone feel welcome and his attention was great. The experience of driving a little fiat 500 (The beautiful red car call Paula) was unforgetable.
The day began with a quick lesson in double declutching. After we rolled out in convoy into the country side, where the driving experience was amazing since the cars were really easy to drive, we stopped a few times to learn a little more about the area and enjoy the panorama and take photos of the views and cars.
Finally we drove back to the villa where we enjoyed local cured meats, cheeses and of course we tested some wines that are produced in the place.
In conclusion this tour is amazing and without hesitation I would recommend it to everyone!
Easily one of the highlights of our trip. Driving the fiats was a blast and the wine/lunch at the end was fantastic! Giuseppe was an excellent instructor (taught everyone how to double clutch) and a perfect guide. Highly recommend to anyone who is comfortable driving a manual transmission.
This was the best day of our entire trip to Italy! We drove Giacamo and Paola with another couple. It was so much fun to drive these little cars through the Tuscan landscape (and get out of the cities). I had a small issue with our car, but our guide, David, had no issues getting us back up and going. It was a hoot! Then came the wine making and tasting part of the day. The process was explained and we got to try and do it ourselves. The tasting was delightful. I've been on a few other wine tasting tours and they give you an ounce of wine and move you right along - time and people pressured - not sure with this tour! We got to sit and drink some wine, eat some lunch, all with the views of Tuscany and our Villa with access to the pool. I didn't feel rushed or pressured at all. Best day in Italy!!
This topped our fun in Italy! Beppe is fun and informative, runs a great tour. The wine cellar was a wonderful setting for our tasting. He served honey from his wife's hive! The others on our tour were all fun and interesting. Two had taken the city bus there. We shared a taxi back with the other two. That's right, only 6 of us on the tour. Just lovely. Thanks, Beppe! What a great day, these cars are so cute and to be able to be given the chance to drive them through beautiful countryside with a knowledgable host was amazing. We learnt about olives, wine, Fiats plus tasted some great wine. An experience I would recommend to anyone wanting to do something different, fun and interesting. Thank you
Absolutely amazing tour! Honestly can't think of any way to do a Tuscan wine experience. You get to drive around the country side in a vintage vehicle and stop at interesting places. The Renaissance villa is absolutely amazing with a breathtaking view with amazing food and wine. We did the wine making experience which I highly recommend. You get to learn about the process that makes great wine in simple easy to understand terms. The tour guide is very friendly and knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour.
My husband and I joined this tour on the last day of our honeymoon. We were lucky that it was a small crew so we had some quality time with Guiseppe both during and after the tour. It was a fantastic way to see the Tuscan countryside and then have a relaxing, enjoyable meal after. Would highly recommend and consider a must-do whilst on holiday in Florence.
This was the most amazing experience. The tour guide was lovely and made everyone at ease with driving the cars which was a lot of fun. I would recommend this to any of my friends and family. Even if you are not a big wine drinker this is still worth doing.
My husband and I booked this tour while in Florence and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire honeymoon! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the driving experience in the gorgeous vintage Fiat 500 (Topsy). We both loved winding our way through the Tuscan countryside with the sun roof back tooting the little horn and waving at the people we passed. The views were breath taking and the food and wine at the end was the cherry on top! Thanks Andrea for such a fantastic day, I hope we get back to Florence some day so we can do it all over again! We definitely recommend this tour to everyone visiting Florence! It is a MUST DO!
WOW!! Such an amazing day! We took out Topsy, the little cream fiat and made out into the tuscan countryside.. beautiful vineyards, gorgeous scenery and plenty of sunshine! We stopped at an amazing villa for lunch, did a spot of sunbathing, explored the rose gardens, then headed inside to taste some incredible food and wine..YUM!! Amazing day
What a brilliant day! Clear blue skies winding roads through vine yards and stunning views. Beppe and Andrea made everyone feel welcome, and after a quick lesson in double declutching and rolling the roof back so I could fit in the little 500. We rolled out in convoy into the country side and after some very slow gear changes. I soon got the hang of having no syncromesh and enjoyed the cheers and waves of the Italian public, especially the Nonnas and Nonno’s who must have fond memories of the cars in their heyday. After cruising up and down classic Italian winding roads, with several stops to learn a little more about the area and enjoy the panorama and take photos of the views and cars we made our way back to the villa up the long white gravel drive way. To enjoy the gardens and stunning location before sampling local cured meats, cheeses and wines. A brilliant way to start our honey moon!
This was an amazing tour! Our family took this tour and he four of us drove two Fiats. The drive itself was such fun!!! Our tour guide Andrea was amazing. Our last stop was a lovely villa for lunch and wine tasting. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody who likes a fun adventure!
We had 7 days in Italy and this was the highlight of our trip. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Florence. We met Pepe our tour guide and after being shown the car and going through how to drive it (really simple) we headed off through Tuscany. Pepe was great, making sure my partner was comfortable with the driving, the cars are well presented and looked after. He was very informative on our stops, telling us about the area and what we were looking at. We then finished at the winery, where a gorgeous and delicious lunch was waiting. We tasted three wines, which were amazing. Pepe is a lovely guy to sit and chat with, very welcoming and informative. I would highly recommend this tour!! Thank you for such an enjoyable and memorable expierence
