What You Can Expect

Skip-the-Line Pitti Palace and Palatine Gallery Walking Tour

Palatina Gallery at Pitti Palace

Your tour will begin in front of the resplendent Pitti Palace. The former home of the powerful Medici family, the lavish Renaissance palace now hosts an extraordinary collection of art.

Bypass the lines at the main entrance and enjoy direct entry with your skip-the-line ticket. Follow your guide through the opulent rooms of the Palatine Gallery, arranged for aesthetic value rather than being displayed chronologically. As you roam from room to room, hear about the history of the building and the Medicis, who took over the palace in the 16th century until their fall from power in the 18th century.

Pause to admire some of the incredible works amassed by the Medicis during their rule. See works from Raphael, Caravaggio, Titian, Pietro da Cortona and Rubens, learning the stories and techniques behind the masterpieces. From the windows, catch views of Brunelleschi’s Santo Spirito Basilica and the Boboli Gardens.

Your tour will conclude in the gallery after two hours, leaving you free to continue exploring on your own, if you wish.

Our guide's knowledge was fantastic, he made the art works come alive, we learnt so much about the Medici's and their chosen artists and art works...I enjoyed this tour more than my amazing tour of the Uffizi ...it is the collection chosen by a family and not a catalogue of art as displayed in the Uffizi ....you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide although early April doesn't really need skip the line option.

Very thorough, historical background provided on all aspects of the Palace and it's art, by our awesome guide Roberta! She really knew her stuff, and was obviously a passionate art historian! I was so attentive to Roberta's meaningful commentary, that I didn't take any photos! Thank you, Roberta for a fabulous day!

If you only go to the Ufizzi while in Florence and think you've seen all the art there is in Florence, you are terribly mistaken. The Pitti Palace is an amazing collection and gallery of a wider scope of masters than the Ufizzi. The two museums, Ufizzi and Pitti are complementary to each other. Never mind the art work, which is unquestionably magnificent, the history of the two buildings themselves and the role each plays in the history of Florence makes the Pitti a must.

This was our favorite tour in Florence, because it was small and intimate with a wonderful and highly educated guide, who had tremendous verbal skills with her varied tones/inflection points. In addition Pitti Palace was the least crowded attraction we visited in Florence, and houses much more fantastic art pieces than i imagined.
