What You Can Expect

Taste of Chianti: Tuscan Cheese, Wine and Lunch from Florence

Enjoy the wine that the Chianti has to offer

Your tour will begin in central Florence, where you’ll meet your guide and hop aboard an air-conditioned, 4x4 minibus. Watch the view of Florence’s bustling city streets transform into the rolling hillside of Chianti, lined with vineyards and olive groves.

Your first stop of the day is at a beautiful winery belonging to one of the most prestigious Italian aristocratic families. Here you taste three wines paired with cheese and two olive oils, but first there’s a fascinating guided tour of the historic wine cellars and to the olivemill through underground tunnels that pass under the villa, and to the enchanting garden of the villa.

Afterward, travel to an authentic Tuscan restaurant and settle down for a 3-course meal, including regional specialties such as fresh pasta, grilled meats and two glasses of fine Chianti wine. (See the Itinerary for a sample menu.)

With stomachs satiated, continue to the charming town of Greve-in-Chianti, where the Chianti Classico wine festival is held each year. Here you will also buy a selection of typical salumi (cured meats) from one of Italy’s most famous butchers to enjoy later at the second winery.

Enjoy the last of your afternoon at a small, award-winning winery that specializes in Chianti Classico wine. Hear about the winemaking process while sipping and swirling delicious varietals. Your tour will conclude with a smooth ride back to Florence.

Itinerary

Sample Menu:
First course:
  • Crostini misti (slices of toasted bread with various toppings)

Second Course:

  • Handmade spaghetti with fresh tomatoes and Pecorino di Fossa (a sheep's cheese aged in caves)
Third course:
  • Mixed grilled meat platter (sausages, spareribs, guinea fowl and chicken) with roast potatoes and garden salad
Two glasses of wine (Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva) are served with the meal as well as bottled water

We went on this tour as part of our honeymoon trip and it was amazing. Our tour guide, Lavi, grew up in Tuscany and was fun, knowledgable, and welcoming! The tour also included an amazing lunch and delicious wine. My husband and I both felt like we learned a lot while having an awesome time.

Great tour! We loved Gloria - she spoke excellent English and told wonderful stories throughout the day. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour and Gloria to fellow travelers. The van was cool and comfortable. The wineries were all great. Food and snacks were fantastic!

Italy is one of the wine capitals of the world. It would be a waste to come to Firenze and not take this tour! It was more educational than any winery tour that I've taken in Napa Valley wine capital of the US or anywhere in the US. The tour guide is studying to be a wine expert and she is quite knowledgeable and shares her knowledge.
I must say she works hard throughout the trip and for such large groups, she could use some help with activities not pertaining to being the wine guide.

Friendly guide, friendly team. Had a lot of wine and a Lot of good food. Not everyone can finish them all, though. In fact, most didn and #39;t. Still an interesting experience.

This was an amazing tour of rural Tuscany in the Chianti Classico region. Wine, Cheese, more wine, lunch, olive oil, olives, instruction and more wine!!! The information is wonderful, the tour guide was amazing, the bus was new and comfortable and the wineries were very gracious. This is a tour worth every cent and more...

This tour was great, you visit three wineries with very generous tastings (9 in total, with some top ups!) and the lunch was beautiful and with a great view to match. Our guide Alessandro was extremely knowledgable. Great tour, highly recommended!

I did this tour with my girlfriend and it was an excellent experience. Our tour guide, Lavie, was extremely knowledgeable on both wine and the Tuscany region as well as personable with the whole group. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to explore Tuscany for the day.

The best about this trip was our tour guide Martina! She was awesome and knew so much information. The places we visited were very cool as well. The only thing we didn't really was the lunch. Some of the stuff we got for lunch was good, but the grilled meats weren't really that great. The chicken was so dry it was terrible. Overall, we had a great day.
