What You Can Expect

Taste of Chianti: Tuscan Cheese, Wine and Lunch from Florence

Enjoy the wine that the Chianti has to offer

Meet your guide in central Florence and hop aboard an air-conditioned, 4x4 minibus. Watch the city streets transform into the rolling hillside of Chianti, lined with vineyards and olive groves.

Your first stop of the day is at a winery belonging to one of the most prominent Italian families. Taste three wines paired with cheese and two olive oils, and enjoy a guided tour of the historic wine cellars. Travel to the olivemill through the villa's underground tunnels, as well as to the garden.

Afterward, head to a Tuscan restaurant and settle down for a 3-course meal, including regional specialties such as fresh pasta, grilled meats and two glasses of fine Chianti wine. (See the Itinerary for a sample menu.)

Continue to the charming town of Greve-in-Chianti, where the Chianti Classico wine festival is held each year. Pick up a selection of typical salumi (cured meats) from one of Italy’s most famous butchers to enjoy later at the second winery.

Enjoy the last of your afternoon at a small, award-winning winery that specializes in Chianti Classico wine. Hear about the winemaking process while sipping and swirling delicious varietals. Your tour will conclude with a ride back to Florence.

We loved this tour. Our guide Gloria was extremely knowledgeable and a fun guide. The wineries we visited were very unique and very beautiful. Our lunch was also extremely delicious. It was a long day but a great way to see the Tuscan wine region. I would highly recommend this tour!

We were a little concerned going into this about the how long the tour was going to last for, but it went SO quickly and every experience was excellent! Gloria was our guide and she was fantastic -- really really knowledgeable and very friend and funny. There was so much wine and food - I recommend this tour to anyone who comes to visit Florence. With 9 tastings some refills making it 9, each paired with certain foods that bring complement the wine, a large cheese and bread platter, a HUGE and super delicious lunch seriously, one of my favorites the whole 10 days in Italy, and deli meats and crackers at the end, this is a NO MISS EXPERIENCE. Don't forget about those Tuscan views, too!

Is there a sixth star? If so, I'd give it. Before knowing about this tour, we had wanted to explore the Italian countryside as a central goal of our first trip to Italy. We realized pretty quickly that trying to rent a car and then finding and navigating the best streets and towns to see was very confusing and was likely to fail on our own. On a whim we chose to book this tour instead.

This was one of the best choices we made in our trip -- the highlight of our two week stay. Lavinia, our tour guide, was fluent, articulate, very friendly, gracious, and made you completely at ease asking whatever questions you wanted. Further, being from the actual region of our tour, she could not only give general history but personal accounts that really helped shape our understanding. She is a gem of a guide.

About the tour itself, it was beautiful -- exactly what we hoped for. We navigated the countryside through all sorts of hidden back roads and narrow traffic lanes to see the best of the Chianti regions' wineries and small towns, thankful for the skill and experience of Sergio, our driver. We were taken to multiple historic wineries, tasted excellent wines, saw much of the picture-perfect countryside, had a wonderful lunch at a little known, exclusive restaurant in the heart of the region, and had an opportunity to explore one of the regions' small towns. Simply perfect. We recommend this fully.

Easy to meet up at the train station. Our guide, Gloria, was energetic, fun and informative about Tuscan wine and history.

Small bus and group of about 14.

Great scenery and commentary from the guide as we drove through Tuscan vineyards and estates.

We tasted wines with selected cheeses and other foods at two wineries. Very beautiful elegant estates. Toured the wine making facilities at each place. Tour was well-organized and we had private tasting rooms set up for us with wines and food. Very nice.

Third place was an agriturismo with an outstanding restaurant with sweeping views of a Tuscan valley. We enjoyed a lavish lunch of meats, salads, cheeses and of course wines. We spent a couple of hours here eating, drinking, talking and taking photos of the incredible views.

We also had free time in the picturesque Chianti town of Greve which is quite cute and has loads of shops.

Got back to Florence around 7 PM - dropped off at the train station.

Highly recommend this all day tour.

We had the best time on this tour! The wine and food was absolutely delicious but without a doubt the best part of the tour was our guide, Lavi. She is so knowledgeable and fun to be around that it made this tour the highlight of our Italy trip.
Do yourself a favor and do this tour and ask for Lavi

AMAZING day trip with Gloria, our guide, and Sergio, our driver. Gloria was knowledgable, welcoming, and a joy to spend the day with. We were in a group of 12, 6 couples in total, and had a great time getting to know everyone. We learned so much, and came home with a few souvenirs including two bottles of wine!. The lunch was delicious, and the location beautiful. So glad we did the tour instead of driving ourselves around, especially as the roads are very twisty and turning be sure to eat breakfast before you leave, and bring some water! Highly recommend this tour, was probably the best day of our trip!
