My husband and I were in Florence for 2 nights only (on a Europe/Africa 20 day honeymoon).
I am a huge foodie (and chef) and really loved the places our guide Axel brought us to. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. We were even able to go inside a wine shop owner's personal wine collection (his wine cellar was in the very old basement of his shop) and it included some extremely old wines (as far as 1800's!). The baslamic, the wine, the meats, cheese and the absolute BEST gelato I have every tasted in Italy! We highly recommend this tour.
Sara our guide was great. We had trouble getting to Florence due to their less than perfect train system (who knew there could be two platform 1s at the same station). We were running late but Sara was happy to wait, granted were the only people on the tour. We got to eat at some amazing places and even went back the next day to eat there again. The foccacia style bread with salami was something out of this world. Definitely would recommend this tour.
Sara was lovely! We had a lot of fun, she felt like a cool cousin showing us around. Felt totally comfortable with her. We ate at some hole-in-the-wall places we wouldn't have found ourselves. We actually went back to a couple of the places next day! I had reached out a few weeks before as it was my brothers b-day and we wanted to do something special, Sara arranged it all and it was awesome! Super appreciated! Really really enjoyed our tour with her and would definitely do it again! Side note, we were still a 'little' bit hungry after, it is just a tastings tour (as in the title of the tour), not a full on meal tour so maybe don't be super hungry going into it or, ask for a recommendation for dinner afterwards. But still was super enjoyable.
We were so lucky to have Gianni as our guide--a Florence resident who knew the locations and vendors everywhere we stopped. The tour was a combination of foody-education and orientation to Florence and included "insider" opportunities that we'd never have been able to do without a guide. Gianni customized the tour to our interests, and he even added an unexpected stop: to a record store, after he learned that my husband was a record store owner. We had a great time! The cost of the tour covered the costs of the food...which was so generous that we definitely got a meal out of it. A great bargain! And a once-in-a-lifetime pleasure. Thanks!
We had a wonderful time on our culinary exploration of Florence. Our tour guide, Christy, really knew her way around Florence. We visited locations we would have known nothing about if it were not for her. We highly recommend this tour and especially Christy if you can get her.
We were a party of 5, and Axel took us through some charming little hideaways in Florence. We thoroughly enjoyed his personal anecdotes regarding the places we visited, as well as the background of the food we were eating. The food of course was delicious! We were extremely satisfied by the end of the tour which finished around 6pm.
Please note though there is a fair bit of walking, and my elderly parents found it a little tiring towards the end of the tour. I would recommend perhaps a break between the 4th & 5th stops, as there is a fair bit of walking there as we cross the bridge.
Overall highly recommended for young legs and empty bellies!
We had the most fun on our tour. Axel was great and showed us so many places we would have otherwise missed. It was also great to have options for vegetarians. Most importantly, he brought us to the most delicious little gelato shop I’ve ever been to. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time during our food tour. Gianni was a knowledgeable tour guide and just an excellent conversationalist. He shared a lot of history and traditions about Florence which for us as history buffs was fun. We really enjoyed every place he took us to. Our favorite was the meat and wine pairings. Thanks Gianni for giving us such a wonderful intro to Florence.
Matteo was wonderful. We had so much fun getting to try local cuisine while also seeing the city. We got to see the majority of the featured architecture and other landmarks while trying different foods. You do walk a lot but it was totally worth it. Would highly highly recommend.
