Always get skip the line since as sure as you think it will not be crowded it usually is.
The Uffizi Gallery is an amazing place and the guide Ricardo Lizzi from Keys of Florence was extraordinary in explaining through examples the evolution of painting accross centuries. Careful selection of masterpieces and paintings with not only to appreciate the art but it's evolution
We had a great time on our guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery. Our tour guide, Leonardo, was such an informative and fun tour guide. He also did a wonderful job of including my two kids, ages 9 and 10, and made it entertaining for them to walk around a museum for 3 hours Our tour group was a nice, small size which made it really easy to walk around the crowded museum.
I cannot recommend this tour enough!! the small group size is fantastic and our superb guide Eleanor was knowledgeable, passionate and has a wonderful informal style that makes the information accessible for everyone to appreciate the amazing works on show.
I will definitely be using Viator again for my next trip!
As crowded as the museum is there's no getting around the crowds, no matter what tour you take or when you enter, I really enjoyed this tour. We had an incredibly knowledgeable guide, whose name I sadly don't recall. Her narrative that offered a sense of how art evolved, from medieval times through the Renaissance, placed pieces in context and made the experience understandable even to those without an education in art history. If you don't have that kind of education, too, a tour makes sense, in that you'll want to see the museum as efficiently as possible, rather than wandering around and, possibly, missing the high points. I recommend this tour.
The museum was extremely crowded but our guides expert guidance and commentary seemed to make the hordes melt away. He offered both a fascinating overview of the museums collection as well as an art history tour that took us smoothly from the Middle Ages, to the Renaissance and then to the Baroque. We felt we learned a lot.
Of course, you must go to the Uffizi Gallery - on this tour! On September 27 we were in a group of 11 adults with an experienced guide- our lucky day- because the Uffizi staff decided to strike inside for two hours before opening the doors while we waited outside. Evidently, that's how some strikes happen in Italy. Many long lines formed down the block while we waited. Our guide helped us find benches to wait out the delay, then got us to the head of the tour line's entry door when he anticipated we would be moving inside. Experience mattered once again! During our wait time, our guide engaged us in his intriguing version of the history of Florence and the Gallery- excellent! Once inside, our guide was good throughout the tour, focusing on the best and most interesting sculptures and paintings in the museum. This tour is the way to get through the Uffizi- this is our third and best visit- early, in a small group. At the departure door, stop at the sidewalk cafe to rest your feet and enjoy a bite and a beverage under the umbrellas. A very nice way to spend the morning at the Uffizi!
Fantastic tour with very passionate and knowledgeable guide who ensured we saw the best the Gallery has to offer.
Great guide - Viola - with a huge amount of knowledge, which made every work of art we looked at interesting. Great to be able to skip the queues, although once you're in you're still amongst the crowds
If I could, I would give our guide, Leonardo, 15 stars. What a guide. While we were waiting in line, the Uffizi workers were negotiating their contracts with management. We had been warned, the day before by our tour guide, that there might be a strike. While we waited for the negotiations to end 90 minutes Leonardo told us the history of Florence and the unification of Italy. OMG. Leonardo is amazing. After the doors opened, he proceeded to give us a phenomenal 2 hour tour of the museum. It is clear that he loves what he is doing. This is, by far, the best way to get a taste of this massive collection of art, which I believe, could take years to get through. Leonardo is the best. Kudos to the office manager, as well. She brought us water, while we waited. A very great team. Run to this tour.
This was a great quick 2 hour tour that gave us the basics and then some for the Uffizi museum. We had a nice and informative tour guide, who took us through most of the rooms. Once the tour was over, I was able to go back and look at everything more closely. I'm glad I was able to take this tour and skip the lines!
This tour was fantastic and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in the Uffizi. We had early access and that made the experience great from the start. There were people around us but definitely better than going in later in the day. Also, our tour coordinator from Viator and the individual guide who took us through the museum were organized and ready to go. The guide was so knowledgeable and made sure we heard history of the overall museum before we even got inside to save time. His name was Alessandro, I am so sorry if I am wrong He made the experience a pleasure by being informative but concise along with having a good sense of humor. He took us to the highlights and was able to show us a great overview allowing us the time to go back and enjoy the rest of the art at our leisure. Early access with a great guide is the way to go.
Our guide and her colleagues arrived in good time gathered the group and handed out headsets, after a few minutes we entered the gallery and our guides knowledge of the history of the exhibits and how they came into the gallery's possession all questions were answered.
During our short wait before the tour a gallery employee told us we should join the normal queue as there was no advantage waiting for the guided tour as advised on our paperwork we ignored this, this advise was well worth adhering to as the guided tour was amazing.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Uffizi for the first time. You avoid the queue at the entrance which is a good start. The guide we had, Leonardo, was excellent he spoke perfect English and was very friendly and helpful throughout the tour. He imparted a lot of information not only about the works of art but also the history of: the Uffizi, Florence, the Medici and even the Italian language in a way which was very accessable and easy to understand. He was first rate. Without such a knowledgeable guide I feel sure I would not have seen so many of the important works of art or have enjoyed the visit nearly so much.
We had limited time but wanted to get the highlights of the Uffizi. This tour was the perfect solution. Our guide was Daniella and she had an incredible breadth of art and history knowledge. I really liked the small group format and left with a new appreciation of medieval and Renaissance art. Definitely recommend!
So glad I did this tour. The tour guide was great! He was interesting, engaging and never boring. He made sure we saw all the important works and rooms, while he kept us moving at a nice pace. I enjoyed it and recommend it for getting in before the big crowds.
We visited the Uffizi 31 August on a tour led by Leonardo. As an art historian, his ability to bring to life the social context and magical legacy of Renaissance artists combined with his excellent English made for a wonderful experience. In crowded galleries, he was able to position our group for best viewing and was happy to overrun the 2 hour period to complete the tour with the planned detail. After the tour, we returned to our favourite galleries and were lucky enough to see the entrance to the Vasari Corridor opened up by a member of staff for another group. Highly recommended!
Fabulous!! Especially if you don't know a lot about art history. Our guide was so knowledgeable that we really got a lot out of the visit. And, as always in Italy, the head of the line is hugely important. Even on this tour, we still had to wait in line a 1/2 hour - still but shorter than the 3 hours others had to wait in the regular line. The Uffizi itself is fantastic and at the end of the tour, you can go around the gallery on your own if you want to spend more time.
The tour guide, Viola, was fantastic. It was definitely worth the price to skip the line and have a knowledgeable guide to steer us through the Uffizi.
This tour is an absolute must while you are in Florence. Our guide Francesco was fantastic extremely informative, interesting, entertaining, he knew where to take us to see the highlights of the museum. I can't stress enough that any tour that gets you past the standard line is incredibly helpful, people were lining up in a two hour line, the skip the line aspect of this tour is worth the price of admission, however, the guide was fantastic
The Uffizi is HUGE -- take the tour, or you are going to die of exhaustion and miss half of what you SHOULD see. Seriously, I would have wasted an hour in the first room of stunning madonnas, and then we would have missed so much. I was annoyed to be rushed through until I realized how much there is to see. The Tour got us to ALL the highlights...so many paintings and sculptures I had seen in Art History books...and we had plenty of time afterward to go back and look at things we wanted to spend more time with. Our guide was excellent, and even though we had a large group she managed us very well. Take the tour!!!
There is so much to see in Uffizi and having a guide helps to see the main attractions - with enough time to roam around after the tour. Skip the Line is best way to go in most big tourism destinations.
Great experience for us and we were so happy we did this with a guide instead of venturing alone. Our guide was very knowledgeable and even hung around to give us dinner and lunch recommendations. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't really know what they are doing, but want to see all the important pieces and get insight beyond what is printed on the exhibits.
We met Viola, our guide, but were delayed getting in the line for early entrance because of some late arriving group members. Another guide did some asking about our entrance when it appeared we were not getting in at our designated time and soon we were in. It was good to have this extra support so Viola could concentrate on us. Viola went overtime with her tour to make up for this. We learned so much about the artists, the art works, and the historical events shaping the art. Viola was able to put us in the best spots to view the pieces and maneuver the crowds. It was nice to include the views out the windows of other important sites in Florence and hear about them too.
