Visit the fishing village of Cumbuco on this full-day trip from Fortaleza. Relax on the sugar-soft sand of the area's tranquil beaches or sign up for some active water sports. After sampling the area's traditional cuisine at the many beachside bars and restaurants, visit the pristine Parnamirim Pond for a freshwater dip. This family-friendly excursion includes round-trip transportation from Fortaleza.
Board a comfortable vehicle at your hotel or villa in Fortaleza for the 22-mile (35-km) trip to the village of Cumboco. This mellow fishing village is located in the town of Caucaia and is home to mostly empty sugar-white sand beaches lined with coconut palms and wind-stirred dunes.
Try ski-bunda, a sport that involves sand surfing down the shifting dunes into a pond. Opt for a dune buggy ride, rent a banana boat or jet ski or sign up for a horseback riding excursion. With year-round sunshine and a constant breeze, the kite-surfing here is world-class if you're in search of adrenaline boosters.
If adventure isn't what you're after, simply kick back on the beach and relax, or stroll through the swaying coconut palms that line the shore. Before you depart, head to Parnamirim pond for a dip in its cool waters.
At the end of your day in paradise, board your transportation back to your Fortaleza hotel for drop-off.
We enjoyed learning about Fortaleza as we made our way to Cumbuco Beach. We were the only English speaking tourists so we were given our own tour guide which enabled us to leave the beach when we were ready. We paid extra for the dune buggy ride which was definitely worth it and along the way we stopped to skibumda down the dune into the water on small boards. It was fun. We then ate lunch at the barraca and hung out on the beach for a short while.
