It was espectacular!! I know is a bit expensive but it really worth it, is the best way to experience the Glacier!! If you go on your own you won't be able to see the Glacier like this, only on the distance and can be disappointing, but the views from the helicopter are amazing and walking on the glacier leaves you speechless. The guide was also really nice and we enjoy it a lot!
We arrived well before the scheduled time my 2 Daughters where so looking forward to walking and climbing a Glacier.
We where weighed kitted up and placed clothing on. Then we where told we could not go as the ice was too slippery for my youngest to go on. I am glad that safety is the first concern and the company did go out of there way to get us on at a later time.
I cannot rate the trip but my rating is for the company.
I am sure the trip would have been amazing.
Loved it, and would highly recommend as a way to get up close and personal with a glacier. Educational and spectacular.
Very good experience ! It was a beautiful day with a clear blue sky and almost no wind.
The helicopter ride to go onto the glacier could be a little bit longer ... The scenery is so wonderful !
The pilot is great !
Our guide, Nick, on the glacier is a very kind man with touches of humor !
Don't forget to bring some energy bar and some water or at least an empty bottle to drink pure water from the glacier ! We took the tour around 9 o'clock
This tour was one of the best things we did in New Zealand! It is very much worth the money and the tour group did a great job from providing appropriate warm jackets and boots to having very knowledgeable guides on the glacier! Be sure and take your camera as you will take TONS of great pictures!
Excellent trip. Well organised. Knowledgeable and helpful guides Good value for money.
Only criticism is that we would have appreciated more information before arriving for the HeliHike in relation to the clothing and equipment provided by the tour operator. It would have saved us time in preparing for the trip and saved us bringing our own clothing and shoes that was unnecessary.
Exciting and somewhat difficult for a 79 year old - -but doable. I highly recommend it.
We couldnt go because it was too cloudy for the helicopter to fly on the 2 days we were there, this is one of the risks that cant be helped in planning a trip. Viator returned our funds promptly.
An absolutely amazing experience. I highly recommend doing this on your next trip to NZ.

Superb! Very friendly and very professional. Thanks
This has absolutely been the highlight of my trip! The teams at The Helicopter Line were really helpful, friendly and reassuring as to what would happen.
Rob our climb leader was really supportive especially to a few people in the group who were not as confident climbing. This is a MUST do!
Fabulous and breathtaking. Guides extremely professional..thank you Rob. Helicopter tour well worth taking. The highlight of our trip todate.
Loved the helicopter ride and glacier hike as well. Totally worth the money!
it was great, staff was well informed and educated. it was a lot of fun
The heli-hike was a wonderful experience, the highlight of our trip. It was professionally organised and our guide was very knowledgable. We had a beautiful day on fresh snow. A real treat.
This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand. The helicopter ride was awesome! Your first ride is about 10-15 minutes with some great photo opportunities and the ride back is a bit shorter. In our helicopter, there was room for six guests in addition to the pilot -- two seats up front next to the pilot and four seats in the back of the helicopter. We had two guides on our tour (one was a student on workstudy) and both were wonderful. They were very knowledgeable about the glacier and the history of Franz Joseph. We were able to go hike near the waterfall and climb through some ice tunnels which made for amazing photos.
The tour company provides wool socks, boots, and a waterproof jacket and pants. The jacket can go over your own coat but most in our party just opted to leave on two light layers (a t-shirt) and fleece under the provided jacket. You get quite hot while hiking so I'd recommend leaving your winter jacket in the shed. You are responsible for your own gloves and should probably bring along waterproof ones. I'd also recommend sunglasses and sunscreen -- I wish I brought along sunglasses as it took awhile for my eyes to adjust to the sun reflecting off the ice.
