Step on shore at Freeport for a beer lover’s shore excursion to Bahamian Brewery, and sample the island’s lagers, stouts and ales at an onsite bar. Go behind the scenes with your guide, and see how the beers are produced; choose your favorite among Bahamian Brewery's diverse beers then browse for souvenirs before returning to your ship.
The driver Brice picked us up (early!) and gave us interesting information about the island, country and culture. At the brewery, the tour lasted 30 minutes. We were then allowed to taste 6 beers and buy some not included for tasting (cheaply). You can also buy beer to bring back to the US. So fun!!
We had a 1.5 hour tour which included a quick tour of the brewery and 45 minutes of private beer tasting. They have some amazing brew and I wish they sold them outside of the Bahamas.
If hanging out at the pier or taking taxis to the bazaar or beaches isn't your thing, then book this tour especially if you like beer. Transportation to and from the brewery is great with a short guided tour of the area. The Bahamanian Brewery is awesome! You get a tour of the facility and then more than an hour to sample as many of their beers as you like. As for the beer, it is very very good! The Sands Light is one of the better light beers I've had and their stout is very Guiness like. Great value for the money!
The tour started with Brice the tour driver picking our group of 5 up in a limo. What a great surprise!! The brewery tour was informative and fun. The tasting room was great. The grapefruit beer was awesome. The employees at the brewery made this tour a must see. Very reasonable.
RECOMMEND YOU GO IN THE AFTERNOON , WE WENT EARLY 10 A.M. NOT THE RIGHT TIME TO DRINK BEER.
BUT A GREAT TOUR AND THE PEOPLE AT THE BREWERY WERE SUPER... AND BEST OF ALL SANDS BEER IS A GREAT PRODUCT...
Great location and great space! The tour was fun and we were able to see the process from beginning to end, and our tour guide was superb! And the beer was super tasty!
The tour was awesome! We got pickup at the Freeport Cruise port and the driver gave us some historical fact about the area. We were greeted by a smiling Brewery tour guide. The place was very nice and very clean. The tour guide gave us the facts on how the beer is made. We got to see the machinery, the QA department and ended with a 1/2 hour of tasting a variety of different style of beers. They have a liquor store that not only carries their beer brands but a great variety of liquors. The prices of the liquor were cheaper than the duty-free shop at the boat. Great 90 minutes tour and it was nice to get out of the hot humid weather.
Our tour went off without a hitch. We had the pleasure of riding with Aisha as our tour guide on the way to the brewery. Not only was she a quick driver, but she was super knowledgable about the island! We got a guide of buildings on the way to the brewery which I was not expecting that was very informative. When we got to the brewery, the tour was pretty quick about 15-20 min and then we got to taste the 6 brews they had on tap. After you taste all 6, they let you drink your fill of your favorite brews. Mine was the Bush Crack. They do not serve their newest and probably most popular new beer, the grapefruit flavored one. However, you go through the attached liquor store on your way out and you can grab as many cold ones as you would like. My girlfriend and I grabbed one and got back in the car with Aisha and drank it on the way back to our cruise ship. Aisha capped of the tour by singing us a Bahemian Folk song that was very funny! Overall a great way to spend a couple hours on this island and get a buzz on.
This tour was just FABULOUS!!! We ended up having a private tour as I got mixed up on time, arrived early and with our own transportation. Anyway, the brewery jumped right in and provided someone to give us a private tour and great beer tasting event. Really fun and wonderful time!!!
So, we actually did not get to do the brewery tour or the beer tasting at all. I know this sounds a little bit like So, other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?, but other than that, it was really good! The problem with the brewery was no fault of the tour group, hence the four stars. We were picked up on time, extremely friendly and informative guide driving us and pointing out all sorts of local points of interest and telling us about the history, etc. When we arrived at the brewery we were told that due to a maintenance problem the next tour couldn't run until a time that would have been too late for us to be comfortable with the likelihood we'd get back to the ship on time. The brewery folks didn't appear to care one way or another but the tour people were exemplary. They offered us a refund or to drive us around the island for an hour and see some more sights. They reacted to the adversity of the brewery problem very professionally and ended up giving us a very enlightening and entertaining trip around the area. Kudos to them for dealing with it in a way that ended up not detracting from our enjoyment of the day. The brewery, not so much. From other reviews it sounds like the brewery staff may have been fine, but for us, they basically could not have cared less about whether or not we got to tour their facility, or what time our ship was going to leave.
