Good for procrastinators

The overall experience with this was ok. The reason why we went with this is because we waited too long to buy our tickets through the castle so there were no tickets left online through the official site. Rather than wait in a really long line or risk not getting tickets we booked this “tour” the day before to make sure we could get in. We got an email telling us where to go in Fussen to pick up the tickets the day of. For us it was between 9:00-9:30. We didn’t get to pick what time our castle entrance was but it was 11:00 so it worked out nicely. The ticket itself is no different from the one you could get through the castle ticket office or website. No matter how you buy your ticket the tour is the same. Groups start every 5 min (don’t be late) and you have an audio guide you listen to. Bottom line, if there is availability to book directly through the castle, do that. If you can’t, this is a good option. A few important notes, during the winter the busses don’t run to the top of the hill so you either have to walk up or wait in a really long line and pay 8 Euro up and 4 Euro down to take a carriage. Not sure exactly when this starts and stops. Also, the overlook bridge was closed for maintenance so we didn’t get to see that view. Surgical masks are required to enter the castle. Not sure when they will drop this requirement.
Outrageous. Scam

This is a scam. You are suppost to pick up the tickets between 8.30-9.30am. This is told to you AFTER purchasing the tickets!!!! Coming from Munich you can only take 1 train at 7.38am and its mostly late. Took us 3hours with the train. And by the time we got there the only possible solution to it, was. Sorry you missed your tour. VIATOR should tell you the pick up time before. And also warn the customer that they will not get the tickets online but they have to go to the office to pick them up. How can you not tell all this information.ation before hand?! Absolutely outrageous. I was travelling with a baby. If I knew I wouldn't have put him through 3hs of train travel

We got this tour because there were no available tickets in the official website. It provides the tickets to enter the castle. If you cn plan ahead and buy the tickets from the official website, you would save some money.

At first glance it seemed all tickets for Neuschwanstein were sold out, then I found Viator and couldn’t believe my luck. The place that had the tickets for us was extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. Loved the experience.

Be aware of steep climbs

The castle and views are fantastic however visitors should be be made aware of the steep hills and also the number of stairs to climb within the visit. There was no mention of a lift for those that find stairs difficult or impossible.

The castle was really beautiful to see. The nature around the castle is very beautiful too! The tour trough the castle is awful. It is very touristic and within a very short time you will be back outside. Very expensive trip!

We were on holiday in the area and decided to visit the castle. All tickets were sold out on line for the whole month of July. Now I know we paid over the standard price for the tickets but it was worth it to see the castle. When I booked the tickets we had good communication with the seller. On the day we collected the tickets he was where he said he would be and was friendly and helpful. Gave us some useful information about getting to the castle and going in. So overall can't complain it was a positive experience.

In turning Neuschwanstein into an over- controlled tourist experience much of the authenticity has been lost. Visit at a quieter time of year; in summer you feel processed through it, and the visit is only around 40 mins, barely time to notice anything. There are plenty of other lovely Bavarian castles to see which are less of a commercial experience.

Way overpriced, wasn't a tour guide as advertised, just the basic audioguide. Will not use viator again and don't recommend it.
Incredible scenery, storybook castle

Neuschwanstein castle is an incredible masterpiece, although the story of its origins are tragic. The engineering of such a castle on the rock mountain is a feat! Admittedly, our visit post-COVID was probably not as crowded as it has been in the past, although there appeared to be visitors from all over the world. One could buy tix right there on the spot. The location to pick up the Viator tix was not super convenient, but we did find it a couple blocks from the Fussen train station in the hostel. Hostel employees were friendly n helpful. It’s a bit confusing once you take bus 73 or 78 up to the castle bc you then must walk the rest of the way up the paved path, take a carriage ride, or pay an additional shuttle to actually reach the castle. After that, one must still walk up the hill and the first part of the tour is up 3 flights of stairs! (Better get fit for this tour!) BTW, we learned from a shopkeeper that our train tix allow us to ride the bus for free, so save your train tix! There are gift shops n cafes up at the drop off point of the busses - just walk around the corner to your right after getting off the bus. The castle gift shop had good prices n I was frustrated I did not purchase some things there, thinking they would be cheaper below. I was wrong. Final note: we returned the next day on the same bus and walked 30 minutes to the gondola up to the top of the mtn. (Start at Parking Lot 3 and turn left on the path to the gondola. Signs make it easy to find; gorgeous, easy walk to the gondola. E27 for an adult to ride up- short ride, long wait. Very pricey to ride, but the views were amazing! Hiking there was not easy, but such stunning scenery!

Our guide went above and beyond to make sure we got to the castle. We drove in and we’re running behind, he met us on the road with the tickets so that we wouldn’t be late. The Castle was amazing!!!

The host was able to change a time for me which I was very grateful of but I realized through this that the tickets we bought is no difference with the tickets if we buy online (but sold out) BUT at a much higher cost. it was like black market... no sure why the castle allows. Anyway, castle was great to look at from the exterior but could easily find a better castle to tour.

These were NOT skip the line or tour guide tickets. They were regular group tickets with the same audio guide everyone else got. Be aware to not pay extra for what you can get for a regular price ticket

The exact same tickets can be easily purchased at the ticket office for 15 euros. Victor charges $40 US each ticket. It shows 15/Euros on the ticket which ifs general admission. Only service aviator provides is the go to ticket office for you to purchase them and just just to deliver them to your hotel. We bought 4 non-refundable, non-changeable tickets. I informed Viator the same day I purchased online that my husband was sick and could not go on the tour 5 days in advanced. No refund. We paid a total of $160 US for $60 euros worth of tickets. DON’T BUY TICKETS from Viator. They take advantage of the foreign tourist. Tour was okay but later in the day we went to Hohenschwangau castle in the same city and paid $18 euros for a much better more personalized tour. Way more details given on this tour.
