Aran island itself was just ok. we went to the small island. What was amazing was the views on the way back, under the Cliffs.
We had a dolphin swimming along side our boat and the sights were out of this world
This was an amazing tour! I highly recommend. But not for someone who gets sea
Excellent place to visit on a sunny day, best tour guide. good value for money
Phil was great! Highly recommend this tour. Wish there were a bit more shops to visit on the island maybe, but spend your time biking around, grabbing a pint and a bite at one of the little restaurants, visiting the shipwreck, etc. WARNING - if you get motion sickness, take a remedy or reconsider: we had someone barf on the bus due to the winding and bumpy roads and I imagine the boat ride that followed then more bus bouncing wasn't a thrill for her. Also, pay attention to the time available at each location so you don't get left behind or take time out of other travelers day :-
Very well organized. Aran Islands a must, plus seeing the cliffs from the water is a definite plus
Five of us took this tour out of Galway after being picked up at our hotels. We had a terrific day and all went as planned. This day tour takes you too some of the most spectacular and unique places in Ireland. A don't miss experience.
We found this tour very helpful. The roads to the ferry were very narrow and windy. It was nice sitting on the bus and letting an experienced driver tackle the roads. The driver gave us some information about the sights we were seeing along the way. When we got to the ferry the driver got our tickets and specific information about our return time and where we should meet. We were fortunate because the ferry had been canceled the 2 days before our tour and the next day. He gave us a ride above the cliffs after our ferry ride. Great tour.
The trip was wonderful. The boat ride to the Cliffs was breathtaking. The bus driver/tour guide also did a terrific job.
The trip was just perfect! It was great from the moment I sat in the bus. Our driver and guide Phil told us stories and facts during the drive to Doolin and he had such a great sense of humor. During the ride we saw nice, cozy looking little towns, castles, and the beautiful countryside. When we arrived in Doolin and got to the pier where the cruise started, the views were already breathtaking. It was quite windy and the Atlantic ocean waves can be quite big, so if you know you get easily seasick, get prepared. Soon I was already cycling around Inisheer island. We had a couple of hours time to spend on the island. I rented a bike and headed off to see the Plassey shipwreck. Ended up spending so much time there admiring the view that I didn't have time to visit the lighthouse or the castle ruins. Did take a walk on the beach, though, and visited a nice little shop were they sell local products and souveniers. Great island. On the way back to Doolin we toured under the Cliffs of Moher and after that we got an hour on top of the cliffs.
I absolutely recommend this trip to everyone who wants to experience something spectacular. I'd say it's suitable for people of any age.
Just a couple of tips: Put on some warm clothes, even if it is sunny. The ocean winds can be cold. If you don't want your feet get wet, don't hang around at the back on the lower deck of the boat if the waves are high. If it's raining, wear a rain cape or coat or something. An umbrella is no use. Dress in layers, though. If you go around the island by bike, on a sunny day it might get quite warm. When you get on top of the Cliffs of Moher, take the path to your right North and then the one to the left if you have time. Don't spend too much time at the gift shop, you can buy pretty much the same stuff in Galway or in Dublin even. Take some snacks with you, a bottle of water, a protein bar and a banana or something. You can get some food on the island and at Cliffs of Moher visitor center, but who wants to spend their time inside when the views are sooo good.
This trip is something I'll always remember and will take my friends and family there one day. And a big thanks to Phil!
This was the best tour we took while in Ireland! It was quite an adventure taking the boat to the Aran Islands and under the Cliffs of Maher. The highlight of our trip was our tour leader Phil. It was like having a college professor on board to inform you of everything you see and so much more.
Everything the previous reviews said is correct. Our tour guide/ bus driver Phil was great. We booked the horse and buggy ride on Innis Oirr with Kevin and it was fantastic. Definitely dress warmly and take Dramamine if you get seasick at all.
Phil, our driver and guide made up for the bad weather with his stories and anecdotes! We don't have the best picture but really good memories of our day, coudn't be closer to the cliff. Spectaculor view by boat!
It was a great trip with one of the Aran Islands included. I would highly recommend the excursion.
Very good. The trip is very well organized and our driver was faboulous. It was raining so we couldnt see anything during the ferry tour under the cliffs.
Our guide Phil was amazing, knowledgeable and funny! We drove from Galway through the Burren and onto Doolin to catch a ferry over the Wild Irish sea to Inisheer island. The ride was rough, but so cool! On the island we took a horse and buggy tour around the island, very quaint and charming. Then back on the ferry and we rode slowly UNDER the Cliffs of Moher, amazing photo opportunities! Back in Doolin we boarded the bus to the top of the Cliffs, and even though it was raining slightly, the views were breathtaking. Phil made the decision to take the coast route on the way back instead of the way up, which really paid off as the views along the coast were awesome, and better to see in the afternoon. Back to Galway around 6, a long but memorable day!
The tour was great. Its a 9 hour trip from Galway to Inisheer Island, to the bottoms of the Cliffs of Mohr and back to the bus to goto the top of the Cliffs. A great sight to see, but please bring a heavy jacket or wear layers - it is very windy on the island, the ferry to and from the island and on the top of the cliffs.
If you go to Ireland, this is a must do experience. And highly recommend the bus tour as well as the visit to the islands nearby. Ocean was pretty rough and it is around a 45 minute ride to Inisheer, but well worth it. Horse and buggy tour allowed us to do more than just walking in that you only have around 1 hour on the island. Very good tour guide on our bus and was a great day spent and never forgotten.
One of the most amazing days ever. Great tour driver and the island is beautiful and the cliffs from both bottom and top were awe inspiring.
This was an excellent trip and far exceeded our expectations. The bus guide was informative and humorous adding to the beautiful landscapes. The trip to the islands is not for those who would experience any seasickness. While the trip is relatively quick, it was very rocky. Take the advice of the guide and take a horse and buggy tour. The island is small, but the tour is worth the 10E. There are a few places to find lunch, but you need to be pretty speedy to squeeze everything into the time on the island.
I would highly recommend trying out this tour. Alan our tour guide made this journey very entertaining and enjoyable, with his witty personality. This wasn't your typical cheesy guide tour. This was a very educational journey learning about Ireland's heritage. This tour had so much packed into one day. This started off with a coach tour of the Wild Atlantic Way from County Galway to County Clare to the Doolins habour where we got the ferry to the Aran Islands. The small Island of Inishmore was a very enjoyable experience touring the island on a kart and horse ride. Myself and my girlfriend were very lucky to encounter Dolphins at the harbour when getting the boat to the Cliffs Of Moher. The Cliffs of Moher cruise was excellent seeing the cliffs from the boat looking up. This was followed with an enjoyable walk along the Cliffs Of Moher and around the O'Briens castle. Try it out you wont be disappointed, well worth every penny :
Bus Driver/Guide was great! He would stop at amazing viewpoints for us to take pictures. His stories and lesson on Irish history were very insightful. This tour is definitely recommended!
I really enjoyed this tour, our driver/guide I think his name was Kevin my apologies if its is not- I wish I could remember, he was training a gentlemen named Alan was awesome. So knowledgeable, and informative with a good sense of humour. We had a bit of rough weather but with that aside the trip to the Aran Islands was awesome, what an incredible place, I was happy for the recommendation to take the horse and carriage ride to see the sites of the island, it was a good length with time to still explore and have some food. The Cliffs of Moher were absolutely amazing and I recommend that everyone visit them at least once. I would highly recommend this tour!
