What You Can Expect

Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands Small Group Day Trip from Glasgow

Glencoe Mountains, Scotland

Meet your guide bright and early in central Glasgow for your full-day tour. Grab a comfortable seat in the luxury coach for the northbound ride toward the Glencoe, a glen of breathtaking beauty that boasts high mountain peaks, ridges, bubbling rivers and waterfalls. Along the way, you’ll pass the ‘bonnie, bonnie’ banks of Loch Lomond for some stunning views of Scotland’s largest loch.

In Glencoe, enjoy a scenic stroll to stretch your legs, and learn about the historic MacDonald clan that resided here and suffered in the brutal massacre of 1692. Afterward, hop back in the coach for to continue your journey through Great Glen and past Fort William, a key military post during the 18th-century Jacobite Rebellions.

Sidle up to the banks of Loch Ness, where the tour will break for some free time. Explore Fort Augustus, grab some lunch or take an hour-long cruise on the loch for a chance spotting of the famous Loch Ness monster (all activities at own expense).

After your lunch-time break, continue back toward Inverness and wind through Cairngorms National Park. Catch lovely views of peaks and waterfalls, and hear about the series Monarch of the Glen that was filmed here. You’ll head over Drummochter Summit and soon arrive at the charming Victorian town of Pitlochry, where you’ll have free time to explore before heading to Perthshire.

From here, begin you return trip to Glasgow, passing Stirling Castle on the way. Snap some photos of the historic site — former residence of Scottish royals including Mary, Queen of Scots — and learn about its colorful history, riddled with warfare such as the Battle of Stirling Bridge led by William Wallace.

Then relax for the return ride to Glasgow, where your 12-hour trip ends back at the starting point in the late evening.

Amazing trip! The driver, whose name I unfortunately forgot, kept telling us stories and giving us information about the places we were visiting along the way. We managed to see so many things in just one day - it's amazing really. Scotland and particularly the Highlands are beautiful and I truly recommend this trip to any nature lover or travel enthusiast in general.

It was rainy day but the spectacular views made up for it. Little more time should be given as break in lochness so that cruise can be taken. Cruise is one hour and starts every half hour. Minimum two hour break needed

This trip was hands down the highlight of our week in Scotland. Ian, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable on Scottish history and was an incredible and captivating story-teller. The scenery was magnificent, and Ian knew all the right places to stop along the way up and back. The mini van was comfortable and food was allowed on board, which was nice. The only thing which would have made the experience better was wifi on board. I definitely recommend!!

Had an amazing time on this tour! Made quite a few pit stops but the Scottish landscapes are so incredible it was hard to believe we were actually there and not in a postcard or something. Sadly didn't get to see Nessie but it was still an amazing experience. Tony our guide was also a great source of knowledge telling us historical facts and tidbits.

I'd 100 recommend this tour and also to remember to dress warmly!

A long journey, but lots of pit stops and a good end. The option to cruise Loch Ness or enjoy a long lunch and shopping was a very nice choice also. We were also lucky because the weather was iffy' and the traffic was light.
