After being picked up from your Kayseri or Cappadocia hotel, soak up the scenery as you wind through the valleys of southern Cappadocia. The first stop of the day is in Pigeon Valley, where you’ll have chance to admire the region’s famous fairy chimneys, followed by a drive through the spectacular Red Valley where the otherworldly rock formations harbor some impressive rock-cut churches.
Continue to one of the region’s most unique attractions – an entire city built completely underground, and duck through the narrow passageways to explore the kitchens, chapels, schools, and food stores that stretch over nine floors.
Back above ground, pause to re-fuel with a typical Turkish lunch at a local restaurant, before paying a visit to Cavusin village, a striking example of a troglodyte village, where the now-abandoned cave homes and churches make for some evocative photos. There’s time for one more stop – in the lively village of Avanos, famed for its distinctive pottery, where you’ll have chance to see a pottery-making demonstration and browse the many pottery shops for souvenirs.
After a full day marveling over Cappadocia’s natural and historic treasures, return to Kayseri, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
