Veronica our tour guide is exceptional! Her knowledge was amazing and she shared fantastic facts with us. Very impressed.
Wonderful - but expensive

I want to start by with a summary: our guide was terrific and the tour of the Alhambra was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. We waited until about 2 months before our planned trip to Granada to purchase tickets so there were no public tickets available for the dates we would be there. I understand tour operators gobble up the tickets quickly so the only option for those who don't purchase much more in advance is to employ a guide. Our fault for not purchasing early. I spent a lot of time trying to find a private guided tour. The options listed in Rick Steve' books and other websites had no openings. The ONLY option I could locate was a private tour with Viator - for $529. Absurdly expensive but we sucked it up and booked the tour. This was very likely our only trip to Granada and we had some strong personal reasons for wanting to experience the Alhambra. Because we had so much at stake the logistics for finding our guide at the Alhambra entrance at the right place and time were especially important. Shortly after we booked we received an email saying to meet at 9:00. A week before the tour we received another email telling us to meet at 1:00. There was no acknowledgement that the time had been changed from an earlier slot. Just 2 emails that contained conflicting information. I tried to confirm by email but got no reply. When we got to our hotel in Spain our concierge was kind enough to call the operator - my Spanish wasn't up to the task - who explained that the most recent email was correct. I got a terse email later confirming the correct time. We met our guide with no problem although there were at least 75 people milling around the meeting point at the designated time. She was a lovely person, and had a wonderful grasp of the history, design and details of the palace, gardens and defenses, which made our experience rich and fascinating. The tour was supposed to last 3 hours and she spent at least 4 with us. Her English skills were pretty good but very heavily accented so it was difficult to understand her at times. Her knowledge made up for it. The actual tour was incredible - one of the best days of my life - but I can't help but feel a bit stung by the price. Even for the best guide in the world, this was ridiculously high priced. Just because Viator can charge that much doesn't mean they should. We enjoyed the Alhambra so much but our enjoyment was tainted by being gouged by the operator.
Terrific Service in Some Terrible Conditions

We met Antonio just as described at the big map just outside the ticket office at the Alhambra. He escorted me through the ticket process. Everything was in order, and off we went! The weather for our tour day was.... challenging. We had heavy rainfall, and the temperature was in the high 40’s/low 50’s (F). No one was comfortable. Despite these challenging conditions, Antonio managed our route to maximize the time we were in protected areas, and he never changed from his positive attitude and determination to answer our questions and teach us the history of the Alhambra. Antonio said that he has been conducting this tour for over seven years, and his familiarity with the history and details of the internal artwork suggested that he has been studying all of that time. We were very pleased with every aspect of the tour except the weather, and Antonio did his best to mitigate that and still ensure that we had an informative and enjoyable tour. (The sun came out literally minutes after we parted ways with Antonio, so we were still able to get some great views from the Fort.)
So wonderful and timely!

Laura gave us a spectacular tour for the right amount of time with our family. She demonstrated her vast knowledge and awareness of this historical beauty. Would definitely recommend Laura and the tour. A bit pricey, but worth it.

We had arranged a three hour tour for 4 people to the Alhambra before visiting Madrid. The local operator was Pancho tours. Our guide was Ani C. The tour exceeded all expectations. Ani was a fabulous guide. She led us at a leisurely 3 hour pace through the Alhambra and the gardens. She explained clearly and answered all questions. We did not feel rushed and had time for a break. This was a fabulous way to visit. At the end we were free to stay and explore some more but we had seen enough. She showed us the quickest way back to the Plaza Nueva as an added bonus. Highly recommend this tour and if possible, ask for Ani

The trip to Alhambra was one of the most amazing experiences. Our guide tour Ana Crespo was one of the best guides we had encountered. She certainly knew the history of the Alhambra and walking with her was reliving the past history of this fantastic place. The view from the top of the towers was breathtaking. You could see The city with its old quarters the Albayzin and the intricate architecture of the city. In a one on one tour we were able to absorb more than a group tour. All our questions were answered in detail and more. The gardens in the Generalife were something to look at.

Our guide Pedro was great and Alhambra is a must see. My only criticism is the tour company Pancho Tours didn't tell us what time the tour was. We had to call multiple times not reaching a human until 10am, so it was difficult to plan our day. I thought it might be because they didn't have the tickets yet, and they were buying them early that morning, but I learned they had them days before. A private tour is more expensive, but SO worth not being part of a 30 person horde pushing through the lines and trying to hear the guide. Beautiful and historic castle.

All worked well, Mercedes gave us a very good tour. She understood what we wanted to see and she cleverly manoeuvred us through the Alhambra, knew when is a good time to avoid the masses. We saw parts of the Alhambra without having many tourists around us. Her knowledge was outstanding and she enriched the sightseeing with many interesting stories. We would book this tour again. Amazing. Highly recommended.

It isn't well worth it to have a guide to tour the Alhambra. Having the private guide made our experience extra nice as we could ask questions and see and hear about everything well without feeling crowded. Antonio navigated us easily everywhere but kept us from crowds at the same time. I don't imagine we could have enjoyed the Alhambra as much on our own. He was easy to understand and very knowledgeable.
