Why Travelers Choose This Tour

Pandas and terracotta warriors -- It's no surprise that this day trip to mainland China is so popular. You don't have to worry about getting a visa, and the super-scenic ferry ride to China and comfortable train ride back to Hong Kong are extra perks.
Kick off your full-day mainland China trip with hotel pickup in Hong Kong or Kowloon. Spend 50-minutes aboard a local catamaran and coach bus as you make your way to Shekou Industrial Zone. This area once served as a base for foreign oil workers and is widely recognized as China’s first Special Economic Zone. Weekday trips will include a visit to a local kindergarten to meet some children and see how Chinese schools operate.
Depart the school and head towards Shenzhen Safari Park to meet cute and cuddly pandas up close. Stationed along Xili Lake, this park is home to numerous species of protected animals, including Asian elephants, Siberian tigers and red-crowned cranes.
If time permits, make a stop at a local market to see how locals go about their daily lives. Purchase items and interact with mainland residents during this lively visit. Next it’s on to the Exhibition Hall in Shekou, where your guide will lead you past Qin Dynasty terracotta warriors and horses that were discovered in Xian. Learn about their historical significance as you wander the halls of this impressive museum lined with bronze artifacts, sculptures an other artifacts that date back to the 3rd century.
Continue on to Guangzhou—China’s third largest city. Enjoy a typical lunch at a local restaurant and then venture out on a sightseeing tour of this urban landscape. Learn about the politics, culture and traditions that drive this city once known as Canton, and pay a visit to several key destinations, like the Six Banyan Tree Temple.
End your day with a return trip to Hong Kong and an express train to Kowloon Station, followed by a Hong Kong island transfer. A friendly driver will insure you arrive safely at your hotel after a memorable day touring mainland China.

Had a great day out to china Alex the guide was very good and funny and so was the guide in China cannot remember his name. It was a long day but worth it

You start your day 7am and return to your hotel at 1130pm it was such a long day and you spend 80 of your day travelling to and from places. The kindergarten was good but not worth a stop. The terracotta warriors were very disappointing and is just really a stop to sell you jade jewellery. The panda stop was also disappointing they were sleeping and thats all u get to see would of been better to spend more time at the zoo looking around. Then you spend the next 3 hrs driving to Guangzhou having lunch at 4pm, also disappointing cold food, holes in table cloths etc, then from there we walk to the market which was good and then drive to the temple which was also good. Then you drive to the train station and wait there for an hour or so till you catch the train back to Hong Kong. The day would be much better if you caught the train both ways to Guangzhou and spent more time seeing the local attractions. The tour guides for the day were very informative and helpful. But be aware they do ask for a tip which I thought was a bit much especially how expensive the tour is and there are three of them to tip.

In Guangzhou, we had dimsum lunch which was tasteless and cold. It also caused my diarrhea after I arrived Hongkong. The jade shop should be scrapped altogether as it was a waste of time. We were rushed at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial last stop before the train station back to Kowloon and did not have time to take good photos. The local tour guide in Shen Zhen/Guangzhou was hard to understand his English. Overall, it was not a good tour.

Only negative was this is a very long day, 16 hours from start to finish, would be beneficial if you could join the tour at the ferry terminal as was 2 hours from being collected to getting on ferry. Guides were extremely knowledgeable.

This tour was amazing!

Alex, Albert and Bill the driver were great. A lot of information provided in a friendly and passionate way. A long but well timed day that gives you just a taste of China. What made this trip was one wonderful guide, Alex, accompanying the group from beginning to end.

While visiting China was fascinating, the Viatour guide Michelle rushed us through every location except a very small Jade museum with one terracotta warrior that then opened up to be a Hugh jewelry store, where we were given more then enough time to shop! Our tour started out with a sales pitch to buy a map and photos of what we were going to see that day along with a set of chopsticks. Most people in our group did not buy that. Our Dim Sum lunch which was delicious was very rushed. In and out in 20 minutes. When we went to visit the Pandas at a beautiful zoo, we took a few shots of the bears and then hurried back on the bus....never to see anything else at the zoo. When we went to see a monument and wanted to go inside, she told us no one could enter because they were having an important meeting inside that day, not sure that was true since I saw tourists all around the building. All in all, visiting China was fascinating but we would have preferred a tour that was not a forced march!

Very interesting trip with knowledgeable guides Michelle and Richard who looked after us really well. The trip had lots of variety. A highlight was the kindergarten, as well as the history of the region.
