What You Can Expect

Magnificent Guangzhou Half-Day Tour

Chen Clan?s Academy

After hotel pickup in downtown Guangzhou, hop inside your comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle with your guide. Then, set off through the vibrant streets to view Guangzhou’s highlights while learning about its history and culture.

Make your first stop at the Guangzhou TV Tower, better known as the Canton Tower. Completed in 2010, the tower used to be the world’s highest freestanding structure before losing its crown to Tokyo’s Skytree and Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. Gaze at the twisted tower — still the tallest structure in China and East Asia — and ascend to the observatory for spectacular aerial views over the city.

Next, continue through Guangzhou’s Old Town to the famous Chen Clan Academy. Also called the Guangdong Provincial Museum of Folk Art, this beautiful 19th-century complex was founded during the Qing dynasty as an academy for students taking the imperial examinations needed to join the country’s civil service.

Head inside and explore the compound, whose ornately carved buildings, halls, and courtyards exemplify traditional Cantonese architecture. Admire the colorful roof sculptures, decorative stone columns, and other features, and see the stunning folk art collections showcasing the region’s wood carvings, pottery, embroidery and other crafts.

After four hours, your tour finishes with a hotel drop-off.
