The next day, follow your guide on a ride from Yangshuo through the mountainous area to Xingping, cycling along flat rice terrace and orchards, tea plantations and bamboo-lined rivers overlooking the Li River Valley.

On your third day, glide along a beautiful section of the Li River to Yangdi, where you’ll explore local markets and then continue into the rural countryside for an overnight stay in a farmer’s cottage.

The following day, enjoy a rock-climbing adventure! If rock climbing isn’t your thing, you can instead go hiking through caves with your guide, kayak down the Li River or take a cooking class – no matter what you choose, you’re sure to have an amazing experience! Have free time on your last day to relax and explore the town on your own before heading back to Guilin.

Some meals are included; for those that aren't, your guide can provide recommendations on where to enjoy some authentic Chinese food, or you may prepare your own meals at your accommodations.

Your bike rental and all transportation is included, and you’ll bike a total distance of 75 miles (120 km) with your guide.

For details on each day, see the Itinerary section below.

Day 1: Guilin – Yangshuo
When you arrive at the Guilin Liangjiang International Airport or Guilin Train Station, you’ll be picked up and taken on a 1.5-hour drive to your Yangshuo hotel.

Your guide will go over the trip’s itinerary and answer any questions you have. Head on a brief city tour and get great suggestions on some fun things to do and the places to eat around the city. The rest of the day and evening is free for you to explore on your own.

Overnight: 3-star hotel in Yangshuo

Day 2: Yangshuo -- Xingping (L)
Pack up your essentials, hop on your provided rental bike and cycle with your guide north from Yangshuo through the mountainous area on your way to Xingping. You’ll wind uphill and navigate your way through flat rice terraces, tea plantations and orange orchards, and along bamboo-lined rivers overlooking the Li River Valley.

After the first moderate 12 miles (20 km), relax and enjoy the spectacular views with the Li River meandering in and out of sight. Your guide will provide you with a packed lunch for you to enjoy at a stop along the way. After lunch, whiz downhill to the banks of the river and then cross the river by ferry to Xingping.

You’ll bike 28 miles (45 km) on both uphill and downhill paved and unpaved trails. You have the option to extend this route to around 37 miles (60 km) if you wish.

When you arrive in Xingping, you’ll be taken to your hotel for the night.

Overnight: Village guesthouse in Xingping

Day 3: Xingping – Yangdi -- Chaolong (B, L)
Start the day with a smooth ride up the Li River and then board a raft. Glide along the prettiest section of river and arrive in Yangdi, where you’ll enjoy a hearty noodle breakfast. Take a look around the local markets before hitting the road again.

Climb a short, steep trail up away from the river and admire the rural countryside. Continue through the towns of Putao and Baisha and follow your guide through local markets, where produce from the region is sold. Here, have a yummy hotpot lunch with the local farmers.

Next, visit the 500-year-old Dragon Bridge and Fuli Bridge. Head off road again and bike on single-track and dirt paths through rice fields and along the Yulong River, whose scenery is mesmerizing.

You have the option to head straight to your accommodation -- a renovated farmer’s cottage in the village of Chaolong -- or take a detour to Moon Hill for a climb to the top. If it’s hot enough, feel free to take a swim in the river!

You’ll bike approximately 43 miles (70 km) today on mostly paved, single-track roads. You have the option to ride an additional 9 miles (15 km) if you wish.

Overnight: Farmer’s cottage in Chaolong

Day 4: Chaolong – Yangshuo
Hit the road for a short ride back to your accommodation in Yangshuo and spend the day enjoying the activity of your choice! Choose to rock climb at one of the world’s premier rock-climbing destinations. Your instructors can cater to all levels, whether you’re a beginner or professional climber.

If rock climbing isn’t your thing, you can instead choose to hike through caves with your guide, take an exciting kayak trip down the Li River or learn how to made authentic Chinese food during a half-day cooking class!

Overnight: 3-star hotel in Yangshuo

Day 5: Yangshuo
You’ll have free time on your last day to relax at your hotel or explore the town at your leisure. Afterward, you’ll be driven back to Guilin to conclude your tour.

5 star rating: Highly Recommended October 2014

In my opinion, this trip was amazing. It was everything I hoped it would be. Initially when I found out I was the only person on the tour I thought it would not meet my expectations, however, Tanxi my tour guide was excellent and the people at Bike Asia were very helpful and accommodating. On top of the incredible bike tour I also took advantage of all the extra side activities. I was never disappointed. I will definitely use this service again.

Brilliant time on our tour, excellent guide that we got all to ourselves!
Only point might be to check your bikes before leaving the shop as our gears were pretty dodgy.
