A wonderful tour and day out in Halong Bay...we loved it. Although the trip was very long, 3.5hrs...we were collected promptly and were very comfy in a 16 seater bus, with a small group of 16 and we had the pleasure of an outstanding guide Thang. He provided us with good interesting information all along the way making the day a really great experience. The operator was Phoenix Tours/Cruises...the boat a really nice one, and the lunch scrumptious, the quality of the meal really very good...and plentiful. A very pleasant cruise, then a visit to a floating village and a wonderful bamboo boat ride...so tranquil, beautiful and serene with the majestic limestone karsts towering above us, and finally a visit to the spectacular Heavenly Cave...wow, it was all just stunning. After 4 hours we headed back to the bus, and the long trip back. A stop halfway at a handicraft store gave us the chance to stretch our legs and we returned around 8.30pm. Thang was a fabulous young man and added to our enjoyment of the day so much. Thank you Thang! We highly recommend this tour, and believe that this particular tour was a great option for a Halong Bay experience.
Wonderful trip, amazing way to experience the beauty of Halong Bay if you only have a day to spare, well organized. Anh was a great, knowledgable and fun guide!
Awesome and the tour guide provided lots of fun to the whole tour of 15 people.
The tour was great! Hung was a great guide and I would definitely recommend him because he was both funny and knowledgable.
Fantastic arrangement from pickup to drop. The Host, his name is Ti, was very friendly and warm and shared stories and facts of Vietnam all the time! Everyone involved in organizing the trip was hospitable and took care of all the needs. The arrangement to see the sights and the boat also were very good
A four hour bus ride hardly is good preparation for anything but the reward is well worthwhile once you arrive at the harbour and glimpse at the backdrop. A natural wonder indeed.
The tour is long enough to enjoy what the bay has to offer including a bamboo boat ride and a walk in one of the caves. The food on the boat was wonderful and the guide friendly and helpful.
I have great time joining this tour. The guide beer he call him self is super helpful and well taking care us. The food is amazing when they serve on board and the information and timing are good. it is worth to go with them.
The tour was very nice. Our tour guide Duc was informative, helpful and full of knowledge of Hanoi and Halong Bay. The bus ride was very long and rough in places due to the road works and mad traffic particularly the semi trailors. Duc keep saying stay calm and all would be good and it was. The highlight was going into the peaceful bays through the caves before the crowds. Another highlight was the walk through the cave with sun beaming through and different shape pillars. Overall a good trip.
Really good tour. Our guide was excellent - made the otherwise kind of boring bus ride not so bad. The bus was a Kia and the seats were kind of small so be prepared for shoulder-to-shoulder contact throughout if you are 6' or so. The guy next to me got ill hungover? and got off the bus - so I was comfy. Halong bay was excellent. Food was good. Service was good. Stopped for snacks and more at a place that raises funds for disabled Vietnamese. All-in-all a great day and well worth the cost.
Good second day tour after doing a 1 day tour of Hanoi. The bus ride is long 3 hr and road rough at times, as you might expect for a developing country. Weather was pleasant for the Junk boat trip to the beautiful limestone islands. Lunch on the boat was ok, some food cold, but everything was edible. Bamboo boat ride through a cave and among the islands was a great experience. The women rowers are strong and friendly. Be sure to give them a tip. Only complaint is the length of time at the bus stopovers for shopping. The break is needed, but not 25 mins. Beautiful merchandise but prices are far too high.
Enjoy myself for the tour. If you have time, I would suggest to spend a day at the Bay as the traveling time from Hanoi to Halong Bay is too long. Overall, the best tour I had for this Hanoi Trip
Very good trip. Well organised and good guide. Minor comment is that we could have spent a little longer on the water, but overall very pleased.
The guide was really friendly and in my opinion not pushy at all. Another review mentioned stopping at a random rest stop for 30-40 minutes which in my experience it was only 20 minutes tops. It's kind of a standard thing is most tours in the region. Dropping us off at a rest stop for a toilet break with tons of souvenirs is kind of normal and I wouldn't discount them for it. In fact, the tour guide did not strong arm anyone to buy things or was about trying to get us to spend money there which was very common while touring in China.
The bay itself is nice but fairly polluted which I think is sad. There could be more control in the volume of tourism to this area to help better manage it. Again this is no fault of the tour company.
The bus was a little late in picking us up but the overall schedule wasn't too hampered by that. The tour guide actually went up and down the cruise boat to make sure my mum was alright which I thought was nice. The food is passable but I wasn't expecting much. It could be improved on in my opinion. Though there were wares laid out on the boat, the guide made no move to harass us into buying things which I told was good.
The tour guide was also very friendly and asked us where we wanted to be dropped off. All in all I am very happy with the tour and thought the logistics were handled well and the guide's attitude and friendliness was the icing on the cake.
Comfy transport and nice boat. Guides were very good, friendly and informative. We saw all the major sights and had a lovely day. The food was plentiful, but in my opinion just average. Didn and #39;t make much of a difference to our enjoyment of the trip though!
It was a long journey from Hanoi - not suitable for those who cannot take long journey on th ebus. The bus we were in was a bit old and shaky hence not that comfortable. Scenery is nice and the short bamboo boat ride is quite fun.
This tour was advertised as more of a luxury experience which was deceptive. If you are trying to avoid the typical tourist traps, you won't avoid them even with this option. Some positives were that it was nice because we were 10 people and had the boat to ourselves. The lunch was delicious.
It was not a small group, we had 30 people on our boat. It seems like all the halong bay tours are the same, all the boats were the same, there were about 20 out at the same time as ours. The Bamboo boat ride is okay. The cave is amazing! Overall good tour.
The trip was everything my wife and I expected Our time at Halong Bay was very enjoyable. The meal on the boat was very enjoyable.Without doubt Halong Bay is somewhere you should visit if any where in this region
However our day was spoiled by the length of time the journey took. The trip was sold as a trip for a max 6 people trip however there were 23 people on our bus. We were 2nd to be picked up resulting in the fact that we were on the bus 90 minutes before even starting to leave Hanoi. We were on the bus almost 6 hours and not the 3 1/2 hours stated in the itinerary. It took us over 4 hours to get back to our hotel at 21.30 hrs. We just managed to get an evening meal as the restaurants in the Old Quarter start closing at 22.00 hrs.
If it hadn't been for the excessive journey time I would have given this trip a higher rating. Perhaps stick to the max 6 people described in your advert
Fresh seafood lunch:
6 pieces of shrimp for 5 people thanks for the extra!
Tilapia not from the sea, obviously...
Stir-fried onions with some pieces of squid
I felt that this trip was a tourist trap. On the way to Halong Bay the bus stopped for 30 - 40 min at a souvenir shop in the middle of nowhere and the same on the way back to Hanoi. The food on the boat was also not great, random things were brought out to eat but it wasn't enough for a meal and didn't taste good. Halong Bay is nice to see but it isn't anything spectacular, the caves are also lit up in various lights to make them into something to look at. I have to say the only cool thing on the tour was the kayaking, but for the price paid I really don't think this is worth it
